Aesthetics First Body Blushing Attempt (+ tattoos)

Sep 23, 2018

    1. September 15th marked Riley's official 8th year with me, so to celebrate I decided to finally get over my long standing fear, and give him a full body blushing.

I was going for a garden witchy sort of vibe so I wanted it to look like he's been spending lots of time with plants and the earth, with dirt under his nails as well as ground into the bottom of his feet. His tattoos are meant to look like they were applied by an amateur tattoo artist a long time ago, so they've faded from the once brilliant dark black color they would've been, and bled a little.

I've got another guy who will be body blushed in the future, but I wanted to do Riley first because he's supposed to look less clean so mess ups wouldn't be so out of place on him, but in the future I'm planning for a much cleaner more "traditional" style of blushing.

      Anyway, on with the photos!

[I somehow managed to scrape one of his palms already while restringing him ><]

I didn't have nearly as many guides for the body blushing as I did for my previous faceup (not Riley's), so any and all concrit is 100% appreciated! Also, if you want to see photos from different angles or closeups of different parts, let me know, I'll be happy to take some provided the lighting is decent.

Thank you for taking the time to look!

    2. I love the dirt detail you did for his feet! It's not very noticeable for the fingernails in my opinion, but the tattoos look great.

    3. Wow, the dirt on the feet is so well done! It looks really realistic! I also really like the tattoos on the fingers, very cool.

    4. Love the dirty feet and tattoos, you did a wonderful job

    5. Body blushing feels so daunting to me, I don't blame you for taking a while to get around to it. Still, it looks like the wait was worth it! Look at those dirty feet, I completely believe he's been out in a garden. Awesome job.

    6. @JupiterMonarchy Thank you for the crit! I was worried about that. I might try to figure out a way to fix the dirt under the fingernails at some point if I can do it without having to just completely redo his hands. I have an idea how to go about it I just have to decide if I'm brave enough to do it.

      @Cecelia @moomelon and @schmooples Thank you! I'm glad it looks convincing! ♡♡♡

    7. That looks so good! It inspires me to give it a shot with my doll when she comes in because she's got a similar aesthetic.

    8. Very nice!! I love the detail on the bottom of the feet.

    9. @juni-fee Thank you! I hope you do! It was a fun style to do.

@MissBunns Thanks! I really love his little dirty goblin feet lol! I'm glad other people like them as well. :)

    10. Very nice job. One thing I might mention, is that if this character is meant to work with it's hands a lot, you might consider adding calluses to both it's hands and feet. Look at your own hands and feet, they will have light orangey brown calluses, any place that touches the ground or tools habitually, inside of the palms, tips and insides of fingers between the knuckles wil be just a little darker than the rest of the hand. Also take a close look at finger nails, put in the little lavender moon at the bottom, and you might try deliberately putting dirt under your own nails and really looking at it closely, to get the right effect.

    11. @rosalynmouse Ah! Thank you so much. Those are all super helpful tips. ♡

    12. what wonderful blushing :) so much extra dimensionality added, it looks great - the dirty feel are awesome! The tattoos are lovely too, I think you really succeeded at the look you set out to achieve!
