Finished fennecs.

Sep 3, 2013

    1. Man, it's been ages since I posted here. But I finally finished my kickstarter, got the dolls cast, painted their faceups, and assembled and shipped them off. So I figured I'd post 'em.

      There's the faceups.

And there's a few stragglers I just now finished.

Now I have a second kickstarter to fund my unicorns going, and hopefully that will go as well as this one did!

    2. OMG they're so cute! Congratulations on them~! I hadn't considered using kickstarter for dolls, but it's a brilliant idea. So I'm curious now, how long did you leave your kickstarter running, and what kind of rewards did you offer? You had absolutely impressive results, so maybe I could do the same!

    3. I ran it for two weeks (They suggest around a month, but I think I would have gone nuts having to wait that long, two weeks was crazy enough!)

I'll just link to it so you can see the rewards: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1285575774/get-a-fennec-bjd-pet-in-resin

Though this second one I'm offering several more low levels, since I had the thought of doing postcards after the last one, but so far all the backers have actually backed the higher levels, people seem to want to get the sets with both the fennec and the unicorn. (Maybe I need to get more fennecs cast?) Here's the one I have running now: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1285575774/get-a-unicorn-bjd-pet-in-resin

    4. oooh, thank you so much! Wow, it's amazing to see how successful these are! Aside from posting on kickstarter, did you need to do any other promoting? Also, who did your casting?

    5. I got them cast by a Mountain View Studios, who mostly seem to do model horses not dolls, since they're pretty simple. (I'm not sure I'd go to them with a full doll, but they were a ton cheaper than any of the doll makers I looked into.)

And no, I had to do a TON of promoting, I only got I think two backers off of kickstarter itself. I got most of them from art sites like DA, places like tumblr and g+, and those forums that allowed me to advertise. (Alas DOA definitely doesn't allow me to mention these at all there, or I might have done even better.)

    6. yeah, it bugs me that DOA won't let you, but tumbler's a good idea, maybe I'll finally post in mine ^^'
