66cm+ Dolls Finally home :: Bimong Narin68

Nov 15, 2024

    1. Bimong Narin68 Grey, in C-skin (classic normal skintone). Ordered directly from Bimong via Instagram DMs. Order placed January 2023, and received November 2024.

I ordered Narin well before Bimong's retirement preorder. 1 year and 10 months later, he's finally here.

Narin was packed directly into the shipping box - I have enough doll boxes at home so I'm glad he didn't come in one.

Parts included - hands, 3 pairs of feet (flat, heel, ballet), and privates.
He's the first doll I've ever owned with magnetic attachments. I'm interested to find out how they hold up under my playing and posing.

      These hands are marvellously sculpted.

Bimong's sculpting is masterful, everything about Narin is very well made. His joints came sueded with silicone washers already. He arrived quite loosely strung, so I don't have much to say about posing until I tighten the elastic. But so far, he feels pleasant and smooth to handle, and I'm looking forward to posing him.

Bimong told me that Narin68 is the "long legs version" of Narin65 fusion. He's 68cm but seems to have some 65cm-ish proportions, at least when I compare him to my other two 68cm dolls.

Head is N611 Grey. Here he is next to another 68cm doll - Joydoll Lai x 2DDoll 68cm girl.

I'd already bought Narin when Joydoll Lai was released, and when I saw Lai I thought both sculpts had a family resemblance. Good to see I judged correctly! I'm keen to make siblings out of them.

I'll be painting his faceup, and have a wig on order that I hope will arrive before Christmas. I have everything else already -- some of his outfits have been waiting for him for over a year -- so he'll be completed soon.

      .
I'm so relieved that Narin is home. I'd wanted this doll for so long, and he's everything I expected him to be. Bimong was honest and gracious to me, and I'm thankful that he delivered my doll in the end.

But he took almost 2 years to deliver, and it has been a very long, exhausting, and occasionally unpleasant wait. I did take a number of actions during this waiting time, and I do have some critique about my preorder experience. I decided to document the whole experience here, on my BJD blog. (Here's my box opening post.) I hope it can be helpful and/or informative to someone; at the least, I wanted to record it for my own memory.

Ultimately, I wish I didn't have to wait almost 2 years for Narin, but I'm glad I held out for the doll I wanted. I'm delighted with him and keen to add him to the crew.

      Thanks for looking!

    2. He looks beautifully sculpted! Congratulations!! I bet that it feels amazing for him to come home after almost 2 years. At least your stress with that is over. I would love to him complete with the wig + outfits + face. He really does look beautiful <3

    3. I'm glad your Narin is home finally! I love the serious expression and the hands are incredible! Probably the best male hands I've seen so far.

    4. I'm so glad he's home after such a long time.

At least with my 38cm Bimong body, the hands and feet magnets are pretty strong. I've popped her feet off occasionally if I'm wiggling her boots off but for general handling and posing, they work fine, her hands can hold stuff without falling off.

    6. I'm relieved to see that he is home at last! He's a beautiful fellow and I hope from what you've said here that you're still excited about him or excited all over again! It was a stressful wait even watching from the sidelines. I look forward to seeing how he becomes a part of your doll family :aheartbea

    7. Also glad to see this finally turned out well for you! It's a very handsome sculpt - congrats and good luck turning him into your character!

    8. Thanks so much everyone. I've started sealing Narin's head and hands/feet, I'm looking forward to completing him. :3nodding:

@Crissaegrim Glad to hear about the magnets, they do feel sturdy for handling, but I'm bracing myself to fish out his feet from shoes.
I might not even have Narin wear shoes that much -- I think he has the best looking feet (and hands) that I've ever seen on a BJD, and it'd be a shame to not show them off.

Speaking of which, I held off buying shoes for Narin since I wasn't sure about his foot size and he might be able to wear something from my stash. Turns out he can't -- all my other 1/3 dolls, even the other two 68s, have feet around 7.5 - 8cm length (typical SD or 1/3 size). Narin's feet are 9cm length, which means he's approaching a typical foot size for "uncle" sized dolls, I think Soom ID75s have around 9 - 9.5cm feet too. So he can't share, but it should make buying his shoes a lot easier than for my other dolls, especially from Taobao.

    9. My girl wears knee high laced up boots which I made, so getting them on and off is a bit more of a production because I decided not to put zips in them for authenticity (but mostly to avoid having to sew zips into leather). She also wears socks so I don't actually lose the feet, they just disconnect from the ankle.
