Finally back after a failed start

Mar 8, 2024

    1. Hi all, I’m Cee, 42 years old, a mom to two kids and a lot of different dolls.
I made an account here almost two years ago with the intention to connect with other BJD enthusiasts and then promptly got hit with major life events that took all my energy away from my hobbies.

I feel almost bad returning now because the dolls I did order back then have long been delivered and sat in boxes and never been played with. It‘s like I neglected a bunch of children! I‘ve slowly started taking them out only to realise that I can‘t quite connect with some of them as I‘d hoped. The mindset I was in two years ago was just so different, it makes me a little sad. I am currently figuring out which ones to sell and how.

Anyway, not to sob here on my first post in a while! I hope to actually start participating in the hobby and discussions this time, and to curate my new doll collection in a way that makes sense for me right now. My first purchase coming back was a Angel of Dream Mu Yanzi, a super smiley sculpt that makes me happy! Will try to figure out how to post her here.

Anyway, thank you for reading, happy to be here with all you lovely people!

    2. Welcome back. Yes we all know how real life can throw curve balls at us and our dolly plans.
If the ones you can't connect with need to find new homes you can always find groups on Facebook as well as general sale groups of BJD that you can join.
If you would prefer to sell here you have to get your number of posts up. I always suggest the galleries and discussion threads. Also read the rules here now and every few months to refresh your memory. I myself have made a couple of boo boos.
The hobby is how you want it. That's the beauty of collecting dolls. You can just collect and admire, give your dolls backstories and lives, or just take photos of them in wonderful settings and admire how realistic they look. Anyway you do this hobby is fine because it's how you find joy in it. I have changed the dolls in my life so many times, done so many versions of photos and I have learned so much in each one as well as made some great loyal friends. You will grow a good support group and you will love this hobby, even if you only have one doll to spoil. It doesn't matter how you do it, just be sure to love it.

    3. Thank you! I‘m glad to have a bit more time and mindspace available to dedicate to my dolls right now. You‘re so right about just loving it, even if you can‘t do all the things at once.
