Aesthetics FFXIV Inspired: Creating Little Aaron [UPDATED 08/08/23]

Well, I've been wanting to shell my character from Final Fantasy XIV for some time now, but I was going to save the project for later. But then, LUTS happened. They released a limited semi-droopy eared elf sculpt on YOSD body, perfection, and only available for a short time. I couldn't resist! So this idea went from someday, to the top of my projects. I'll be tracking my process of recreating my character here in doll form.

Maid Outfit
The main outfit Little Aaron wears is a sky blue maid outfit. It has lots of frills and details.

I decided to reach out to Dollremi, since they have made a DD and MDD version of it previously and I'm obsessed with their beautiful work. They specialize in clothing for Dollfie Dream but were willing to make a YOSD sized version if I mailed them a dress form.

They don't include the bloomers though, so I will be using the pair from my Homecoming Outfit. AKA the I don't want her to sit around naked until I get her clothes outfit. The bloomers are from Nine9Style.

I have chosen the shoes I want from Legend Doll, but they will need to be recolored. I plan to get the beige/white ones and paint them with Angelus Paint, which is specifically designed for recoloring leather and vinyl shoes. They sell little sample jars that should be more that enough.

Small update, the wig should be here within the next week and a half. Hopefully it's the way I want it and i don't need to do too much work on it. Would hate to ruin it after waiting so long to get it! Also the eyes are about 6 weeks from shipping. Small pieces coming together!

I was so excited about the dress I forgot to mention I got the Wig Yesterday, although I haven't had time to try it on her yet.

 

I ordered the Shoes today I'm still heavily distracted by my excitement over the outfit :P

 

My grandmother in USA has received the outfit and shoes. I didn't wanna deal with customs fees so shipped them there, she'll be shipping them to me as a gift later this week Should have both within 2 weeks!

 

I actually trimmed he wig tonight, and i don't know if like it. It needs to be tamed a bit so i banded it down, i'll take it it off in a few days and hopefully i like it. If not the wog search goes on.

 

FINALLY
My package from my grandmother in USA has been stuck in customs for over a month but FINALLY, today I got it! It had the Outfit from Dollremi, the custom eyes from Enchanted Doll, and shoes which I still need to paint. I was gonna wait to post a picture until i had time to take a good one but I was too excited to share!

I know this thread has gone stale, I have been really busy with school. Also the world is scary hell hole right now and my anxiety has not been in check...BUT I'm feeling better and school ends Friday for good. I'm going to receive my degree in Web Devlopment and I got a job through my last internship which means...more money for doll stuff! (also job is good in general...)

I plan to pick this back up, I made some updates to the status posts and will upload some pictures tomorrow of the eyes, which came a while ago now, and the new wig as I couldn't get the one I cut from nine9style the way I wanted.

 

I'm back! With a vengeance
Let's begin with me living up to my promise (although late) of a picture with the new wig and more lighting on the eyes, although still not doing them justice.

Nirvana Cane
It's Cane time. I told myself I could settle for a simple White cane, but that was a lie. My favorite iteration of the White Mage Cane in FFXIV by far is the Relic Weapon Nirvana. Even though it's been 6 years since it was released in game, I still cling to it and Little Aaron always has this cane.

As soon as I was hard set on this cane, I threw out all hopes of making the cane myself. I'm confident enough to say I have 0 skills needed to sculpt something so complex. It's quite possibly the most complex cane in the game.
I was able to find an artist located in Russia through etsy. Tons of reference pictures and measurements later, she set a price and I paid to put the order in motion! She predicts the cane will take about a month to make so I'm REALLY looking forward to it.

I have returned from the dead once again to continue this project. Much has changed in the time since I dropped it. Primarily that the artist I paid to make Nirvara ghosted me after I paid, I was waiting patiently but eventually my money was past the refund date and Etsy no longer listed her as having an account so I had to write it off as a loss.
That naturally rubbed me wrong and caused me to fall off this project once again.

However, I am currently not even playing WHM so I suddenly don't really care. Guess I've also gotten over it I am planning to paint the shoes next weekend, once my masking tape arrives! (I live in the woods now and had to order some) Time to get rolling again! I will Update the initial to-do!
