Hello everyone. I have a terrible habit of starting a shitton of projects without finishing others, unless it's an animal that keeps me at it until the end, probably ( very early) ( then August) After a long period MIA, I'm trying to get back on track., The goal is to finish Faraji before the end of Jan. Yikes. He's more or less a balance between the male and female African elephant, and I had to take some liberties with the anatomy <_<" The trunk still needs tweaking, but it's more or less on trails already. Ears have a flatter side (concave) without texture for possible tattoo and faceup shenanigans, and the "back" has the wrinkles/veins. This way, whichever side strikes one's fancy can be used and swapped without problem. Better than adding a heavy extra pair of ears, I figured. Tusks are removable for convenience too. The wrinkly smile is my favorite part HAaaa What do you think? ^_^ Let me hear your thoughts.
Thanks, @LordOfTheLandsquids! Here is some progress Its too much fun to play with the trunk. Sanding the ears is driving me nuts tho So far the trunk is 14,5ish long, counting the tip, with 18 pieces. Ugh must not think about the sanding and priming yet. I extended the inside of the ears a little further, the gap between the skull and them seemed unnatural. Pretty much done with the symmetry checking and toning the amount of texture on the head.
Thank you @Alewife, Actually no, the ears are way too heavy to swivel properly :C I've tried to make it a swivel-and-magnet piece so he could still wear wigs, but magnets alone work better. I'd rather allow all my heads to have wigs if possible, but yeah. Ears are massive and it takes an equally massive magnet to keep them up >_<"
He looks amazing so far! That trunk looks so fun! And also very frustrating...have you numbered each piece on the inside? :P
@Yuibum, yeah! Otherwise I'd get lost pretty quick on them They go 0-9 and then A-G @_@ I'm still trying to make them smooth/rounder, or at least enough to be acceptable. They pose well enough Also made adjustments on the ears and sanded them down for priming Plus shorter, cuter tusks! After these pictures I added a bit to his jaw
He looks awesome!!!! I'm making a female elephant myself and your male is gorgeous! The trunk is a masterpiece!
Amazing doll! Love the flexibility of the trunk - this should be great fun to pose. I also like the richness of detail of the head.
