Resin Comparison Fairyland Tan Resin Matches

Sep 26, 2024

    1. I’m looking into hybridizing my F60 Sircca in tan since I’m not a huge fan of FL’s SD bodies.

I’ve been looking at Maskcat, Coralreef Doll (for their Angell Studio Suntanned color), Supia Milk Brown, and possibly DFH and Impldoll if they will color match with FL Tan.

If anyone has a FL tan hybrid with any of these companies or has a tan FL they can compare to any of these other tans, I would love to see photos or get some insight on whether they might match or not.

    2. I can't speak to the other resin matches, but I can say that supia milk brown is not a match for fairyland tan. I have a feeple65 carol on a supia ballerina body in milk brown and the fairyland tan is much more pale by comparison. I was able to air spray my carol to match supia's milk brown before sending her off for a faceup but it was not a natural match at all. heres the unaltered tan headcap vs supia milk brown. my other worry with a feeple60 is that the neck hole would be too small for a supia body. my feeple65 girl does fit but the feeple60 and feeple65 heads are not interchangable

a good alternative may be dream valley's light tan. it's not a perfect match (fairylands tan is slight more red) but I think the neck sizing could work and i would say its about a 85-90% match. I'm posting a dream valley headcap inside the un airsprayed inside of one of my carol heads. I feel like with the right faceup it could definitely work.

    3. Thank you so much!! This is super helpful! I’ll have to look at DV’s sd girl bodies to see if anything would work for my girl, but I’ll keep the resin match in mind. It looks pretty close from the photos you provided.

    4. I’m glad!! I’ve become a bit of a hybrid fiend so if you have any questions let me know!

    5. One of my friends has a minifee Iset head on imomodoll asexual body and match so good. Have a very nice proportion and neck fits. Imomodoll girl body is too big, but asexual body works fine. Almost 80% skin tone match but its not resin. Really not bad hybrid, but I prefer resin, and dream valley is better match in my opinion. Thank you so much! I am interested in coral reef tan comparison too

    6. I can confirm that Maskcat and DF-H tans are very much not a good match for FL tan. I also heard recently that DF-H won't color match to FL anymore, although I haven't asked them directly. (Someone else mentioned it in a Minifee hybrid thread.)

I'll try to remember to take a picture of Maskcat and DF-H tans with a FL tan when I can.

Best color match I've found without ordering a color match is with Dream Valley tan (see my doll profile for Arthur Dawid High-Hill), but I've also heard they can be inconsistent, so I might have just gotten really lucky.

Dikadoll will color match FL tan, but they have a minimum order size. A body is probably big enough, but when I asked about jointed hands it would have been a minimum of 5 pairs. I communicated with them through Alice's Collections.

Check with Impldoll if you decide to try them, and make sure they have a body with a neck that will fit. I'm a fan of their bodies, but the necks do tend to be on the thicker side with the bodies I've handled.

    7. I have some photos of Maskcat tan compared to Fairyland tan here - and it is not a good match, although blushing might help:

      Tans (clouded sky)

DoDollsDream Caramel Forest is pretty close (it is a bit yellower than their "Nostalgic Biscuit" and has a more velvety texture rather than a more matte texture). Bimong's "New Tan" is also quite similar. DoDollsDream is only available during preorders and Bimong bodies would have to be found second-hand - I'm sorry about that! But I hope the information might be helpful anyway.

    8. Thank you so much for all this info! And definitely if you are able to take some pics that would be so helpful.

Omg thank you so much for the pictures, it’s a big help. I might actually be convinced to color match to the Maskcat tan because their 1/3 body is just so gorgeous.

    9. I'm glad I could help!

I would probably do the same and color match! It is such a beautiful body. I especially love the delicate hands (there are so many pretty options!). The wrist mobility is so good and all the other joints are very smooth and easy to move as well.

Good luck with making decisions! :)

    10. I do have one more question!! Do you happen to know if any of the Soom tans are close to FL tan?

    11. Haven't had a chance to take photos yet (weekdays in Alaska while working full time + approaching winter = no natural light), but I have remembered: Nakana Workshop has a couple different SD girl sizes, and their tan is specifically meant to match FL! I haven't handled one of their bodies, but I've heard really good things from those who have.

    12. Oh yeah that’s right! I think I came across them earlier in my search. I’ll have to do some more research on them! Ty!

    13. Depends on the tan, I have some old bronze legs from soom and they’re 100% not a match at all. It has a similar effect to the Supia milk brown where the bronze is much more saturated, only it’s more of an orangey color. I do have a TianBa Polly head in a “soom light tan” and the color match doesn’t seem terrible. I’ll take a picture and update once I get home!

    14. Soom tans are not consistent. I have Soom Tawny (which is probably what “soom light tan” by other manufacturers seeks to mimic, and the two batches I have are totally different. Granted, one of them is from probably like 2014, and the other is from 2023, so I wouldn’t expect a perfect match, but my old soom tawny is more saturated and redder than the new tawny. I wouldn’t guarantee one batch of tawny to match even if another batch does!

    15. I would love that, thank you!!

Oh yeah true, but maybe if they’re not too different it would be close enough? I don’t mind if there’s a bit of a difference

    16. Mine are very different. Like very much two separate colours. It is not consistently one colour, so anything based on “soom tan” could be based on many very different shades, and still be accurate to one batch of soom tawny.

    17. Dang. It sucks that so many companies try to replicate it. Because ultimately you don’t really know what you’ll actually get.

    18. Yeah, I would check that company’s “soom light tan” against FL tan individually, rather than assuming all “soom light tans” will be the same!

    19. Hey there!! Were you ever able to take those pictures?
