Shopping Fairyland Tan Differences

May 3, 2016

    1. Greetings friends!
I wish to order a tan minifee eventually, however when I look up pictures of Fairyland tan, there is a vast range of tans, from very dark near ebony to very light, sun-kissed. I am aware of recasts in the search results so I am careful of my sources and am still convinced there is a difference between FL tans! In addition, the Rohan looks a lot darker than tan minifee Rins I can find on Google.

here is an example of a dark one:
      My beautiful tan chloe :)

      example of very light one:
      Camille (Minifee Rheia Tan)

      all credit to respective owners.
So is this really all just lighting or does FL release different tans?
      Thank you so much! <3

    2. Wow I really love the color of the Chloe! :)
Rohan is actually coming out in a new tan color called "Agra Tan".
But, I do agree that FL seems to have some shade differences with their resin.

    3. From my understanding, the fairyland tan does vary a little bit, though Rohan is the only 'different' tan they've done for minifees (to my knowledge) The difference in the photos is most likely due to difference in lighting or camera settings, combined with the fact that the tan is actually pretty difficult to photograph accurately. I bought a tan minifee in January and I haven't actually managed to get a single colour accurate photo.
This one is probably the closest (I hope it's okay to post a photo here) It is a lovely colour, just hard to photograph

    4. Middle-range tan colors from any company can be very hard to photograph accurately, so it may be that you see variations in the same tan color that are not real, just in the photography. That's not to say there aren't differences in resin color as well, it's just one more factor. I feel that resin colors are inevitably a bit of a surprise in real life no matter how much research you do. Good luck :)

    5. Fairyland tan imo is "mostly" consistent from what I can tell. I've had tans from them in every year and all of them are basically the same. I agree that lighting is due to a lot of the variances that you'll see with tans. There were also Tanning minifee from a long time ago that you might see that are pretty dark.

    6. Agreeing with Above, Resin has gotten slightly more orange, but it really depends on the person taking the pictures. Here is the same taken by the same person earlier and she doesn't look as dark

And the same chloe by her previous owner

I might be able to take some pics of late 2014, mid 2015, early 2016 and mid 2016 when my scarlet comes in the next few months

    7. Wow, thank you all so much for the fast response! I'm trying to decide on a tan Rin or Risse, and I am very excited. Thank you. Your dolls are gorgeous. :)

    8. I would love to see a comparison of the tans I really want a tan Chloe

    9. @mariicaro, there really isn't a comparison to be given; as said above, the tans are the same, it's the lighting conditions that are different. These two pictures are the same doll, same day, but one looks a bit warmer in tone than the other because the light has changed slightly (less direct, with the wig shadowing his face a bit more):

I've found a similar "inconsistency" with my other darker-than-NS boys (WithDoll "Real Skin" and MagicTime "Brown"). The WD one in particular has swings in my album from looking full-on tan to looking bog-standard NS. In person, though, the FL tan is gorgeous, and I'm hoping to get a second tan from them in the future.

    10. thank you for the pictures and for breaking it down for me. I don't have a doll yet but I'm totally obsessed with the tan dolls its looks so beautiful.

    11. I actually feel the same way, all the other tan minifees I've put my doll next to are either lighter or a bit darker and the resin looks shiny or even matte (my minifee looks matte)

    12. Your Chloe is so gorgeous <3

    13. Tan really varies a lot from batch to batch. I got a Chloe ordered late Dec. 2016 and she wasn’t the same color of my Sircca ordered March 2017 so really it’ll all depend on your luck.

Their tan tone also varies. My Chloe was warm, but my Sircca was ashy. My friend got an Agra tan Sircca and she was the same color of my normal tan Sircca. Then her tan Eva was a lot darker than both her Agra and my normal tan. And it was also a lot warmer. In recent pictures of Niella in tan, he looks so much paler than all the tans I’ve seen, but without seeing in person I won’t judge. Also, the extra hands I ordered from Fairyland directly with my tan dolls did not match the tan of my dolls.

But, some people do get the same shades so it really boils down to luck.

    14. I feel like the tan is the easiest to spot slight differences because of how dark it is. I have noticed difference in natural skin tones too, but it is usually less noticeable. I will say I think Agra tan is a bit darker from what I can tell.
