Fairyland Realpuki discussion - part 19

Mar 11, 2017

    1. I have that chair too & it is really cute. Also have MB chairs with cute Scottie dogs & several other prints. Dritz also made a lot of cute pincushion chairs same size & style but I havenโ€™t seen any of theirs in stores for a long time too. I like them because theyโ€™re a little big for RPs so they look like little kids in grown up chairs plus thereโ€™s lots of room to pose them in many ways.

    2. I use mine for PukiFee and other tiny dolls. I am sorely tempted to try to make one. How hard can it be?

    3. It probably wouldnโ€™t be too hard once you figured out a pattern @vermont chick . I will have to take a close look at one of mine but Iโ€™m thinking the fabric pieces are glued onto a base of something..maybe just heavy cardboard, so thereโ€™s probably no sewing involved.

    4. @Jonlyn - Either cardboard or foamboard for form. Glue some quilt batting on for stuffing and cut fabric pieces to fit. I think I'd do some minimal sewing so fabric edges wouldn't fray. A comfy cushion to sit on, and lastly glue some small wooden balls on the bottom for feet.

    5. Sounds great @vermont chick . Hope you go for it! Sounds like a fun craft store shopping trip in your future.

    6. Thanks @Jonlyn. I have lots of fun ideas that never make it to fruition, but I may give this one a try. I might even have most of the supplies on hand.

    7. Me too @vermont chick ! Same with supplies. I probably have enough supplies for long forgotten plans to open my own craft store but I still canโ€™t resist trips to Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc, etc! Hope you do try this...anxious to see what you come up with.

    8. @Jonlyn - I may size mine for RealPuki, so it would be a bit smaller than the pincushion chairs while following the same general style. Just what I needed--another project!

    9. @vermont chick ...very cute ME pincushion chair on eBay, only $7.99!

    10. Yesterday was raining here so went to Hobby Lobby for inspiration for fall colors photos...โ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ...here is the result. More pics of each of the individual dolls on my blog, Adventures of the Wee Resins linked in my signature.

    11. @JinCIncy ....what a great picture. Props are so cool & I love all of the autumn outfits.

    12. @Jonlyn - I saw several at higher prices. Must have missed this one. Thanks!:)

@JinCIncy - No question at all what season that represents.:) Great shot!

    13. Sorry you missed the chair @vermont chick . It was really cute & so reasonable. I canโ€™t believe the prices on some of them! Guess I should go through my bins where I have some stored away to see if I have any duplicates.

Iโ€™ve been hoping to get my little ones out for outdoor fall photos but I may have missed that opportunity as we are getting frost tonight so lots of the smaller plants & shrubs may be pretty sad looking. We had a few snowflakes last night so winter may be starting pretty early. Can always hope for a few days of Indian Summer.

    14. Beautiful picture @JinCIncy ...such brilliant colors & your little guy is so cute. I love the Papillio sculpt, such a mischievous little grin!

    15. JinCincy, where did you get his beautiful eyes?

    16. They were the default eyes that came with him from Fairyland. I lucked out, lol!

    17. @JinCIncy - Papilio is such a great sculpt and the little guy fits in so well with his surroundings. You hit a home run with the eyes--love the color.:thumbup

@Jonlyn - I wouldn't be surprised if some of those sellers came back with lower prices at the end of their current listings.

    18. @vermont chick ....agree, the prices are outrageous! I canโ€™t imagine why anyone would pay so much. I was impressed with some of the ornate, antique pincushion chairs & I can understand serious collectors spending big $ on some of those. If I do find that I have doubles, I would be happy to share & send you one if youโ€™d like.

    19. Thanks! Let me know what you find.

    20. @vermont chick , need your mailing address. Have a busy week coming up but will let you know when Iโ€™ve gotten to the post office.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

    21. My little ones got a surprise in the mail today from my friend Robyn...โ€ฆโ€ฆ...Nuzzli has laid her claim. The other ones are hoping she will kiss all over her new pet and leave them alone for a while at least.

    22. Nuzzli is so very cute @JinCIncy !

Has anyone looked at Denver Dolls site recently? All photos of Real Pukis & PukiPukis are gone. Sadly, I think that says it all.

      • x 1
    23. I was looking at their site this morning and couldn't find anything since it looks like they've changed their website.

    24. I saw they were totally gone now too. I guess I will just be extremely glad I have the 5 I do. I kept hoping they would bring them back like they did the Realfees.

    25. Just popping in to say hello and am recognizing lots of familiar faces. Fascinated to see that my pad remembers my password, lol. I have two realpukis now my Frida titi and Billy popo.

    26. Hi @Ruthiepooh ! Happy to see you here, please share your wonderful pictures of Frida, Billy & their many darling friends.

A little Pupu has been traveling from Canada & we were hoping he would arrive today but from the tracking info it will probably not be until tomorrow.

    27. Oh, congratulations!! You are so lucky! Pupu has been going for crazy prices so I doubt I will ever get one. I don't think I will be (should be) buying any more dolls on this side of New Years, lol (not counting those already in preorder). But I just won a little ccc blossom fairy, that was fun!

    28. @Ruthiepooh , I was lucky to get Els little guy on the RP Facebook page. Heโ€™s had a couple of homes but I think heโ€™s finally found his forever home. I think heโ€™s really cute. He started as a sleeping face plate and an artist opened the eyes & gave him a sweet face up so heโ€™s not exactly like the factory open eye face. It will be interesting to see if heโ€™s a boy or girl once I have time to get acquainted with him. Congrats on winning the blossom fairy!

    29. That modded pupu was so cute, but didnโ€™t she/he come with two plates? I look forward to see what you do with hen. Anyway, Iโ€™d rather get one blank or with messed up faceup because Iโ€™d like to paint her myself.

    30. Hi Ruth, nice to see you here. I love not only all your adorable tiny dolls and their clothing and tiny toys you knit and crochet, but also your furniture. Do you make the furniture that goes into your rooms too?

    31. I have made a few items, but mostly they are basic 1:12 dollhouse sets that can be bought in any dollhouse store โ˜บ๏ธ. Nice to see you here too!

    32. Jonlyn, I am so glad you bought El's Pupu Ashton. A lack of dolly funds caused me to miss buying him when Wovenflame had him (as Bobby) for sale. And wouldn't you know, the same situation occurred when El put him up for sale. At least now I know he will have a good home where he will be much appreciated. I just love the job Ban Side did opening his eyes.

    33. Thank you so much @namaro ! Iโ€™m so sorry you missed the little guy both times but he will visit here to say Hello to you.
@Ruthiepooh , Iโ€™m pretty sure he only has the one face plate. I was so happy to get him I didnโ€™t read the details too carefully....I think he will be bringing a couple of hats for one thing. Hope heโ€™s wearing the warmest one as itโ€™s really cold today!

    34. I was sad to let my darling Pupu go, but he'll be very happy with Jonlyn. He helped pay off a large vet bill. ;(

    35. maybe they decided to replace them with the realfees? they did a lot of the same faces, and i'm sure the realfees are less fiddly to make.

it's too bad though, i love my realfees, but have been addicted to miniatures since long before i discovered realpukis, and they are so much fun to craft for

    36. Hi guys! I went to restring my realpuki and totally forgot how the little thigh notch parts got strung up :( Can someone send me a pic? Apologies if its too vague, I don't have my camera on hand to show what I need help with

    37. Hullo everyone! Your little ones are all so cute! My own realpukis are still wip, I had promised myself I wouldn't post here until they were ready to share, but I can never resist a cry for help lol

      Hope this helps :)

@Ruthiepooh I absolutely adore Billy's grin. Seeing his face instantly put me in a good mood:whee:

    38. That makes me so happy to hear! I was so lucky to find him 2nd hand last year before the prices rocketed โ˜บ๏ธ

    39. Real fees seem so big to me@auntbear. I too have always loved tiny things & Real Pukis are my childhood dream doll come true.
Just thinking of restringing my RPs can start a panic attack! Youโ€™re very brave @Biku_27 . Iโ€™m sure your photos are very helpful @Litzski Canโ€™t wait to see your completed dolls and I agree, @Ruthiepooh s little Billyโ€™s smile can brighten up the worst day.

    40. Rowan wanted you to see her new dress that I knitted from a Fair Isle sampler I was playing around with yesterday.

    41. How cute @El BJD ! Both your sweet little Rowan & the lovely dress!

    42. I love that little dress El! your Soso looks completely adorable in it :)

      • x 1
    43. How adorable, @El BJD! With her Santa and reindeer props it looks like Rowan is getting into the Christmas spirit.

      • x 1
    44. Thanks, Jonlyn! Rowan was new with a factory faceup, but the teeth were all smeared with pink! I was so disappointed! Then I sent her to Ban Sidhe, along with a few other RP face plates. She fixed the teeth and gave her eyebrows. :)

Thank you, Ruthiepooh. It was just a deja vu kinda thing when I noticed the little sampler would make an ok dress. :)

And thank you too, vermont chick! All of the props were thrift store finds, including the background.

    45. My Billy popo had much the same problem. He also came with the factory faceup, but instead of pink teeth he had white lips... I eventually worked up some guts to paint him myself, and I like him so much better now :)

      • x 1
    46. It's not so great when the originating company starts getting sloppy, eh! Maybe they really don't want to make such small tinies anymore. However, most of mine have faces or some additions by Ban Sidhe.

    47. It really isn't, but I, and so many others adore these tiny realpukis. Their charm is quite unchallenged for that size dolls :) I hope their production manager heals up, or they can find someone else who can do the job. But if they by production manager mean sculptor or artist, then I guess we have to keep waiting... Because finding someone who can do facups well really shouldn't be that hard.

    48. We sure hope so, Ruthiepooh! Most of my collection is mainly FL, from Realpuki up to Littlefee. And I have more than one of each. :O

    49. Hi All! Curious about your face up preferences. Artist or factory? If artist, do you redo all of them? I do love both artist and factory face ups. My Soso has a very pale factory face up and I have been tempted to redo. Have left him alone only because my others have factory faces. My other guys with factory seem to be vivid, nice and hate to mess with them. I donโ€™t know which of the FairyLand artists was injured. Sculptor or face up artist?

    50. According to Fairyland it was their production manager that was injured, which is why they have a smaller production now, and the realpuki and pukipuki just happened to be put on hold. The rest was just me guessing...

The three dolls I have bought directly from Fairyland I chose to get blank, although I have regretted that choice a little when it comes to my pukifee. I have bought two dolls second hand, and repainted one so far. The other, a pukipuki, is alright if slightly damaged. I might paint him eventually too, but mostly because I prefer to make them as much as possible โ€œmineโ€.

As you might understand I donโ€™t have a whole lot of experience with their faceups first hand, but from their pictures of the little ones I sometimes wonder if they couldnโ€™t have tried a little harder... I like to have mine with natural looking โ€œkidโ€ faces and not โ€œdoll likeโ€ faces or dark black eye liner, but thatโ€™s just my personal preference.

      • x 1
    51. My Ara has very dark and dramatic eyeliner. Wish I could figure out how to post pics!
I do like the natural personalized look also. They are so teeny, I am not sure I want to tackle trying to give them new faces though!

      • x 1
    52. For me, the tinier the doll, the more simple the faceup should be. Sometimes I bought them directly from FL (via DDE), and sometimes 2nd hand. When I sent them out, I always chose Ban Sidhe, as I like her style for the littles.

    53. I love artist face ups! Enjoy the uniqueness. My Aras with face ups by two different artists.

    56. And even more sweetness to start my day, Jonlyn!

    57. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts! Jonlyn, I have always loved your cuties with their unique faces.

    58. @Jonlyn - your adorable little ones make me want to repaint one or two of mine. Particularly my Pupu, whose factory faceup has a jam smear for a mouth. I'm also bugged by the lack of eyebrows on all but one of my RPs.

    59. Oh I sooo dislike those dots for eyebrows even more than NO eyebrows, lol!
