Fairyland Realpuki discussion - part 17

i think a lot of tokis want to be girls. my ns toki was supposed to be a boy but when i painted "him" up he turned out to be a very sweet girl and snagged a lovely red wig to confirm it. i'm waiting to see if my tan toki will be her brother or sister. i know what you mean about the faceup delays too, toki got done, but poor titi is still waiting, (along with several other dolls.) we seem to either have wet/rainy/humid/windy weather or else i'm not at home when it is nice enough to paint.

auntbear, my current Toki is all boy, but I know what you mean. I've seen some girl versions lately that make we want another. I'm having a similar issue with a couple other sculpts too; Cricket wants a boy Soso for a brother and after seeing dessertmountainbear's adorable Crow I'd love to have a boy Roro. Oh and you can add me to the list of delayed faceups!


sweetiemom, I love your cabin, especially the hammocks. Sylvanian Family is just the best. It suits the little RPs so well. I've got a village I'm working on using some of the vintage buildings, an Ikea shelf & Playmobil trees. I really should take some progress pics.

 

I did manage to keep Toki a boy! It was difficult. For me, they seem to require a bland color palette, which, for me, is boring and uncreative. I used all of two colors on him. But he looks good. I can always add some color down the road depending on wig and clothing preference. I love color coordination! Also don't know about changing his eyes, FL gave me brown defaults. But I think I want green for him.

I also redid my Roro's face, AND she has a tan twin coming home soon!! That should be exciting. I've only worked on a tan doll once before.

Took Thyme and cleaned him, redid his body blushing and he's good as new now  then went to a garden for fun and found a pretty pond.

Thyme was tempted to jump in and go koi fish wrestling! Little daredevil! Primrose thought the lilies were lovely, but talked Thyme out of wrestling a fish because the water was too murky. Lol

 

boys don't have to be bland, i've seen some nice colorful ones before, i think the trick is to keep the colors deeper &/or brighter and ofter more decided eyebrows seem to make the face look more boyish. pastels and delicate features tend to be more girlish.

tans are nice, you get to use brighter colors on them too.

good thing he didn't, you have to kick your shoes off to go in swimming and he cant afford to lose them till he gets his new feet

Well Truly certainly is swooning over adorable Thyme. She & I are both totally frustrated & angry that mean old Flickr doesn't allow us to post pics from my iPad. I hope their next "improvement" is actually something helpful for a change.

These dolls are literally the cutest things. I've never thought about getting tinies, but now I'm seriously considering getting one (or five)!

 

I can sure understand why Truly is swooning over Thyme! We only have 3 male RPs to 7 females! eep!

 

Don't ever say "one" in this hobby, it's just not logical.
I wanted a soso. Now I have 5 rps. I'm starting to duplicate sculpts!
You won't be sorry with an RP. They're double jointed, they stand very well, they travel well, they can have tiny houses & anything in the world is a great prop for them, and SO ADORABLE!

auntbear, I changed my Toki's faceup! lol. You are right, it doesn't have to be boring (giggles to self), he's now gone goth!!!!! I'm quite pleased.

 

you'll have to post a picture and let us see, i'm glad you were able to get one you liked better

 

Yeah, unfortunately, I only used two colors on him! So, still boring, yet lively. I have to finish him with eyeliner and then I have to get him new eyes (or not; not sure about eyes yet). Then I have to finish his very cool outfit and paint his fullset parts, THEN I can post him!! I just hate posting unfinished dolls, it's like going to the store in my underwear. Unfortunately, it takes a lot longer to finish a doll than it does to throw on a shirt & pants!!

 

Amen to that! I know what my next purchase will be

I've been in lurker mode, depressed that I cannot post photos from Flickr. I've tried everything I can think of plus taken everyone's helpful suggestions with no success. Guess I may have to find another host site & see if this old dog can learn new tricks. I've enjoyed seeing everyone's great pics. I managed to finally find a sweet little pupu to adopt. She will be going off to Elfinhugs probably this week so Shell can work her magic. So much fun to have a new sculpt. I've no idea what her personality will be but it will be great fun to play with eyes, wigs, etc until she "appears"! I'm loving the pics of the Real Fees too, especially the so so sculpt but I'm glad I resisted the temptation...so far anyway, as these little characters demand so many things & I just don't want to start all over with a new size.

I'm SO pleased with my girl. I actually tried a mod, for the first time ever, and peirced her ears. I'm basically thrilled because I didn't think I'd have the ability to do it, even though it was just gluing jump rings in place.
