Fairyland RealFee Discussion Part 7

Apr 9, 2018

    1. Oh my! The dragons are up on the Fairyland site. I want Rian (the boy dragon) sooo bad!

    2. Oh neat, the dragon parts are being sold separately under “parts” for those that already have a realfee

    3. The new Realfee isn't on Denver Dolls yet though. I wonder when?

    4. They are now up on Denver Dolls and I really like Rian. I probably will get him in the full-set option, normal skin with tan dragon legs. I love his facial expression and I can't wait try different wig and eye combinations on him. About Ena, I'm just not sure about her, but I fear if I don't get her I will be sorry later. I just wish they had them in green or lavender skin.

    5. Me too!!

    6. Hooray! Placed my Ena order for the full option set in tan with pink legs. I'm so excited! I have a lot of plans for her! Maybe I'll actually have some things sewn and made for this doll when she arrives--but that's probably wishful thinking.

    7. Thanks, greenfaerie!!! I've ordered 2 pair of the legs, knowing from experience that the legs will be hard to find after they sell out!

    8. Yay, good for you on deciding so quickly. I've almost convinced myself I want her and think I would go the same options as you. Might do the normal skin w/ pink legs though.

What colors did you get in the legs?

    9. I almost did that myself, since my other two Realfee girls are NS! The thing that swayed me is my ideas for her involve a lot of gold and red, and I think gold will look even more striking on tan than normal--though really, you can't get a color combo that isn't a winner with this release. :)

Time to order some red Pearl Ex...this girl is gonna eat it up, with those wings and horns. Thankfully I already have two almost-full containers of gold. :dance

    10. Dang, 600 bucks if you want all the dragon parts...For $250 I would have thought the tail would at least be jointed. I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad that the anatomy ruins the legs for me, though I get a kick imagining these guys get around by jumping like kangaroos given the leg shape and huge tail.

    11. I haven't decided the color yet, but I think I want normal skin with white dragon parts. I have both Luna centaur and hippogriff in white, and I would like the dragon to fit in that icy realm, too. I wish I could get the horns and wings in transparent resin instead of red...

    12. Oh my. I want a Ena with face-up with pink dragon parts and it cost nearly the same as the full option. But I don’t want the full option. This decision is going to drive me crazy. But I don’t really mind having to make it.

    13. The mental image I got was that their legs are mostly built for springing into the air before they start flapping their wings--but these guys are babies, and their wings aren't big enough to fly yet (or else their parents' lives would be a nightmare, with flying toddlers heading straight for hazards). :whee:

I had the same problem. i went with the full option because I figured I can sell the fullset later if I really don't use it. My preference would have been basic tan Ena with no faceup + sp with no faceup, and all the dragon parts. Oh, well. It would be nice if they just had one listing, and you can add whatever you like onto it, and you get a discount if you order everything.

    14. I got the pink and the tan. :)

      • x 1
    15. I also see them as being clumsy babies and that’s going to be fun with their characters. Ive had the plan for awhile to make my Lucywen into a dragon, if I ever get around to giving her a face up. So she can be the babies mother.

    16. Oh goodness! The new Realfees are adorable!

      • x 1
    17. Has there been any word regarding the other RealFees going back on sale? I've been wanting to buy a RF Toki for seemingly ever at this point, and was hoping the new RF release would mean the other RFs would be back on the sales block...

    18. So far, it looks like nothing. Incredibly disappointing! I need a body for my event faceplate and a whole Mari. Ultimately aiming for five Realfees, but at this point...! It’s gonna be a long and tough road on the secondhand market.

    19. I am really debating ordering a full option Ena. I was planning on ordering a littlefee, but once I saw the dragon parts..... I'm obsessed with dragons. I don't know if there is going to be a summer event though, which makes me want to wait to order, but then again, I don't want to wait too long to order because then (I presume) she might sell out..... :c

    20. I did it! Normal skin fullset girl with pink legs. I was torn over whether or not to get tan skin for her upper parts. But I really want to be able to use event heads.

I really like that they’ve started selling parts separately. I hope that means I can get more things for her in the future.

That is disappointing. It would be amazing to see your collection completed.

      • x 1
    21. I went ahead and ordered both of them. :blush Both are the fullset option, and I got Rian in normal skin with pink dragon parts and Ena in tan skin with pink dragon parts. Already thinking of names and I have a vintage basket that will be their dragon nest.

      • x 2
    22. Why's that? There's usually a few Realfee bodies on the second hand market.

I fear it will be quite a wait before we see the Realfee lines back at Fairyland or DDE though sadly.

    23. About the secondhand market I hope so! There sure aren't right now; there was a post with two on Facebook, but they both were apparently sold almost immediately.

It seems like it'll be a while, sadly, yeah. At least they're still releasing new ones, though...!

    24. There is a new one, so they still are kicking around :)

      ------------

So many people seem to buying the pair of fantasy dragon Realfee, hopefully this will mean Fairyland make more fantasy Realfee in future.

I'm getting Rian with the pink dragon legs from DDE and I'll have to see about getting a second pair of dragon legs for Ena later.

It's just a shame there wasn't an event/fullset event gift this time.

    25. I'm getting full option Rian with white dragon parts. I'll have to try to figure how to make him white or silver or transparent horns and wings. Or he'll just have to be satisfied with the red ones...

      • x 1
    26. Is it just me or is it weird there is no news notice about the new release on their website? And no mention of how many fullsets are available or whether they are time limited?
Also a bit bummed there is no event but I guess we can't have an event for every release >_>

Me and a friend are ordering a full option Ena this Sunday. She's getting the full doll in tan, with eyes and wig and I'm getting eeeeeverything else. So most of the fullset and all dragon parts. I'm getting those in white because I plan to dye them blue to fit my blue Realfee gal ^^

      • x 2
    27. Yeah, I keep checking everyday and normally they have an announcement of some sort for their dolls. I'm also bummed there's no event, especially because its so much money I would have liked to get a faceplate maybe. The un-numbered full sets make me anxious because I desperately want the Ena full option package but I have no clue how many there are!

      • x 1
    28. I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds it odd.
I have sent them an email about all my points. I will post here if I get a reply!

    29. This has been bothering me as well. I've always thought of the RealFees as young - possibly because of their small sizes and proportions? - and there is something disconcerting to me about seeing such sad, serious faces on the little ones. The new sculpts are lovely, but not for me.

I would, however, *love* to get a pair of the horns and wings, so I'll be looking and hoping for some to be listed after people start getting their dragons. :^)

I fear you are right. When the RealFee releases were more frequent, it seemed like collectors were more likely to list RFs for resale if, say, they failed to bond with their new dolls or fell in love with a different new sculpt. Given the long wait since the last RF release (Luna/Eva), I've wondered if collectors have been holding on to their dolls a little tighter, unsure if they'd be able to get a replacement if they let one of theirs go. This is all pure speculation on my part, however, and I'm probably projecting my own issues on all of this.

Hopefully this new release will shake free a few new RF bodies for you!

    30. I'm kind of sad. On Friday I ordered both Rian and Ena Full set option from DDE and ordered Rian with tan dragon parts. On Sunday after thinking about it for a bit I realized that I would rather have him with the pink dragon parts because that way he would kind of match Ena with her pink dragon bits. So I emailed DDE to ask if I could change order, but Monday morning they messaged me back and said no, that they had already placed order.

Yes, I get it that they want to keep it simple and not let people change their minds, and yes, I could have waited a few more days before ordering to make sure I had completely figured out what I wanted. But ugh, I want pink dragon legs. :...(

I guess I just wait until they arrive and then try to do a trade with someone.

    31. That's a shame :( At least you didn't just select the wrong option like me -- I was so excited to order a Tiny Delf centaur in Strawberry Millshake last year that after much planning I ordered one in (white) Milkshake by mistake, and only noticed a few days later. Luckily Angelesque was able to get Luts to change it or I've been in the same boat.

I hope you get your swap.

    32. Well, I got an entirely unhelpful response from Fairyland...
I asked about the fullsets, if there was an event and why there wasn't a news announcement. This is what I got in return:

"We are really glad that you have taken interest in our latest release and at same time regret to inform you that it is difficult to predict how long they will be available for this time.
They will be probably available for the time being but depending on how quickly Full Package components run out & how busy our processing schedule becomes, they can be pulled down from production rather quickly."

So no word on any event or whatever and it's a bit vague, sigh. I'm ordering a full option this Sunday at least.

    33. Oh no... I really hope I get this job then. I finally got a call back from a local grocery store. I only hope that I can get paid within June and the full option packages don't sell out by then! This is the first doll release that I have been head over heels for and I really hope I can get them. How can people deal with this much stress on a near monthly basis lol

    34. I hope you get the job! But don’t scare yourself too much. There might be some for sale at Denverdoll once gets all the dolls get shipped.

      • x 1
    35. Went for an Ena full package (the middle option one) without the dragon legs. They just didn't grab me, but I love her little face. It's been over a year since a RF has joined the household!

      • x 2
    36. Just placed the order for the full option Ena in tan skin, with a friend of mine. The doll will go to her and I will basically get the rest. But she will be delivered to me so I will take some pics for sure before sending her off again.

The legs will go to my smol blue girl:
      [IMG]Like-minded by Nymrah, on Flickr
I'm not really sold on the tail yet, so depending on how it's attached (strung with the rest of the legs or separate) I might take it off.
She will very likely end up with the horns and wings as well, although they will probably clash in color with her wig xD

    37. Oh my goodness! Those little dragons are absolutely adorable. I haven't been into bjds for years now, but every now and then I still take a peak to see what companies are creating. This is the first time in a long time I've fallen for one.

Do realfees generally sell out pretty quick? I could put in a layaway order with Denverdoll now, or I could wait until my next paycheck and purchase the doll from fairyland in full. It'd be more responsible for me to wait a couple weeks for that check, but I'd totally regret it if they sell out.

      • x 1
    38. Honestly, I find it's a bit hit and miss? Some sets go like pies, but others stay around a while.
In this case, they haven't even let us know how many fullsets are available. I asked and they said they weren't sure when they would run out of supplies to make the outfits?? So if you can swing it without getting in financial trouble, I'd start a layaway order. That way you'll at least secure it.

      • x 1
    39. You could always put one on layaway now with DDE and pay it off when you get your next check. That way you are guaranteed to get one.

Also, I may be mistaken, but I don't think you can order direct from Fairyland anymore. If you're in North America, I think you have to order through DDE. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

      • x 1
    40. Thank you so much for the advice. You've both helped make my decision much easier. I'm am now happy to announce I've put in a layaway order for a Rian in Natural with white dragon parts. I'll try messaging DDE next paycheck and see if they will let me pay off the rest then. (:

I didn't realize you couldn't order from Fairyland directly anymore! Things have changed a lot since I've been around last. I'm so out of the loop now haha.

I think I'm going to have to pick up my Rian a little pet BJD. Either a dragon bjd or one of these little adorable Foo dogs.

What do you guys plan on naming or doing with your lovely babies? (:

    41. Congrats! The lack of info from Fairyland is a little disappointing, but I'm glad you grabbed your fullset while you can. :D (I saw those Foo dogs yesterday on Instagram and just love them, too!)

My girl is going to be the fire/sunlight/plasma/energy portion of a set of four Realfees representing the four classical elements. The idea actually hit me when the first dragon preview images showed up, and I got so excited I sketched up outfits for two of my current girls (who will be earth/harvest and wind/sky) and a fourth which I don't have (ocean/water; hopefully a mermaid tail will surface someday!) I was very inspired by neo-baroque and neo-renaissance designs with big crowns, dramatic silhouettes and flowers and oversized antique coins everywhere. I'm working my butt off to learn to actually craft the things I've designed, now, because I'm not that skilled  But that's the fun of big projects!

I also have a centaur body that will need an upper body and head, now that I've stolen her old upper body to be Sky, but I'm not in a rush. :XD:

What are the plans for your Rian?:love

    42. Thank you!!! Those little foo dogs really are adorable. It's going to be hard to pass up on one knowing it would go so well with a little adorable dragon doll. :P

Oh wow, your girl is going to look absolutely wonderful when she's all done! :'D Those outfits sound gorgeous. I've always been a huge fan of that style as well. I hope you are able to bring your designs to life. (:

Also I just want to say that Asura doll you have in your signature is seriously awesome. My favorite race in that game!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. It's been awhile since I've gotten into BJDs and this was honestly rather impulsive of me. I'll have to sit down and think about a name and personality. :P There was no way I could pass up on these adorable dragons. Back when the RealFee line released with Pano and May, I knew I was going to want one of these babies eventually. It was just the question of when they would release one I couldn't say no to, haha. The RealFee line is just so charming. I love their whimsical sculpts and fantasy parts.

I think I'm going to airbrush his dragon parts into a grey/white/silver-ish colour, but I'm not a 100% on that idea yet. There's so many fun things you can do with a dragon concept!

    43. I'm looking to buy my first Realfee to join my other Fairyland dolls, but I'm torn about the resin color choice. I have an old ShuShu elf MNF in beauty (green) white and 3 various sizes in normal skin. I've had the hippogriff in tan before, too. I'm thinking of normal body with white dragon parts, white body and dragon parts or normal body and dragon parts..... I'm leaning toward white/white because that would give me the greatest leeway when deciding what shade(s) I wanted the body blushed.... But Ena looks so cute in NS! I'm so confused! But in a good way! LOL

      • x 1
    44. @Retrobox omg the foo dog! Who makes them?

    45. hello!! so i ordered a realfee rian full package through DDE's layaway, and they'll be my first realfee!

i am so outrageously excited for them i want to participate here where my excitement might be appreciated;):sweat i ordered mine in all tan skin so he'll match and be more on the dragon-y side with a singular skin tone than split.

one thing i thought was really weird is the full package comes with face up and body blushing by default, and when i tried to order a human rian with blank dragon parts it was actually like $30 or $50 more expensive?:? so i guess i'm sticking with what he's got, but luckily red is one of my favorite colors so it's fine lol

      • x 1
    46. Black Box they're the same artist artist as Mochi & Anubis

    47. As far as I'm aware, Fairyland doesn't offer body blushing.
But I do know they want to stimulate people to buy the full option sets, so the less things you want to order, the more expensive it gets...
The dragon parts alone are $250 but in a split they are around $189 if I remember correctly. A lot cheaper that way.

      • x 1
    48. I settled on normal/normal for my little girl. I loved the idea of getting another white skinned doll, but worried it would be too stark for what I had planned.

There was no offer of body blushing when I ordered my full set, btw - there's actually a disclaimer on the Fairyland web site where they explain that they do not blush/paint any parts other than the face.

      • x 2
    49. @Snow i meant body blushing for the dragon parts. dragon parts blushing? at denverdoll, it lists the separate dragon parts as $250 with no clarification on whether they're blushed or not, and the given image is unblushed parts.

      full package base price: $380
adding on dragon parts, supposedly unblushed: $250
      = $630

full option package that includes blushed dragon parts by default = $613

at the time i was ordering, the only way to add dragon parts to the full human package was through that option at the very bottom, though DDE has now properly added the option under the full human package and the dragon parts there are listed as $197 for ws/ns, so i guess that is cheaper.... now :P

that said i really wanted those awesome horns and wings, so i'm still glad i ordered the full option package.

    50. I ordered the full option package too. But the dragon parts are listed as unpainted despite what the picture shows. Unfortunately, Fairyland does not do blushing. But congrats on your incoming Realfee!

    51. @brightberry oh darn! eh, i'm actually not upset by that, i like being able to choose my own color palette/design for his dragon parts and his faceplate will still have a face up, but that's... a little weird they have blushing in promo photos when it's not something they even offer.

      • x 1
    52. It’s so weird they do that. I’m not upset either and I’m glad you aren’t. I’m always scared of scratching blushing. At least, if I applied it myself, I have the colors I used.

      • x 2
    53. Fairyland has always been pretty clear about not providing blushing body parts or painting accessories. I remember them making a big clarification on it when they came out with the hippogriffs.

      • x 1
    54. I had names picked out for my baby dragons, wrote them down on a piece of paper and now I can't find that piece of paper and of course can't remember what they were. :horror: I do remember that I'm going to make them a nest in a basket, and that they are going to be terrible little monsters that will drive the rest of my dolls crazy with their antics.

    55. I'm not sure if anyone else has responded, but you can still order direct through Fairyland if you're in the US/North America.

DDE starts taking orders earlier than FL (by a day or so) and DDE offers layaway (I believe FL does not), but if you can pay in full upfront, there's no reason you couldn't order from FL.

    57. Quick question - it's been a long while since I needed to contact Fairyland direct - do they not have a q&a board or have I just not seen it? I filled in the contact form and sent it off, but I'm not used to bjd firms responding any way other than on a board so I wanted to make sure someone will actually read and respond.

    58. Yeah I was wondering the same thing... They used to but it's gone now I guess.
I also contacted them and got a reply within like 3 days I think, through mail ^^

    59. Yeah, I believe they closed the Q&A forum when they shut down a while ago, I think their main english-speaking employee left. It might be something you could ask DDE about? Or at least, they might have more reliable contact with FL?

I'm in a split for the body and Ena's outfit - I'm actually pretty excited about it! She'll be getting a pkf Jude face, though.

      • x 1
    60. Thank you both - I'll give it a day or two more and then place my order anyway.
