Fairyland RealFee Discussion Part 4

Nov 21, 2015

    1. I'd also like to see the faceup on a tan face - I suck at trying to imagine what the faceup will look like on tan...

    2. unfortunately i can't remember them ever showing tan faceups, except the very first time they did tan... oh and if tan is the only option for a le, so its possible, but unlikely

    3. I know, but I can still dream, haha. Especially because they are definitely going to sell some in tan (if they offer tan), so they might as well show one. :eusa_pray

    4. I'm sure this is the wrong place to ask, but can anyone tell me why I cannot seem to post photos? I'm using Photobucket, I copy the URL, but all I get is a grey box with a cross no matter how I do it.

    5. Are you sure you're only getting the picture's URL by itself? There shouldn't be any other links or anything.

    6. Wow, those Hippogriffs look amazing! (my wallet is screaming in pain already...)

    7. Welp, that winking faceplate in the last picture completely did me in. Doomed!

    8. Am I the only one who noticed that they dont really have any eyebrows? :P

    9. Intrigued as I am, I'm thinking I may just go with a basic girl... I really have no need for the fantasy body - though it looks well made and proportional (bodies that are too small for the human parts are a peeve of mine!)
Akara, I did notice that but figured it was just part of the animal-aesthetic? The girl looks like she 'could' have super skinny brows but not so with the boy.

    10. Neither of the new faces really grabs me, and I won't be getting the fantasy characters but it just dawned on me; I would imagine they will be selling basic Realfee at the same time. I wonder if we'll have another chance at Pupu?! That's about all that would tempt me right now.

    11. I wouldn't think so - they haven't re-released a past sculpt yet but never say never!

    12. Those hippogriffs are pretty awesome looking. What a cool design.

    13. ARGH I'm trying to save money for going to France for Ldoll and these are too awesome! I need a tiny purple hippogriff in my life!

    14. The blueish hippogriff is going to be the end for my wallet. DX the only question is whether to also get the RealFee too... I really like the pink outfit and main face, but the wink is killing me on the other. I think I'd settle if they reopened the basics though and I grab Mari? Decisions. I could just get the Griff and call it a day until they make exactly the RF I want.

    15. Shush you!

      • x 1
    16. You may be correct there...if so, I'm completely safe, except for perhaps taking advantage of the chance to get a body for one of my many random faceplates.

    17. Since there is a separate thread for the Fairyline, I wonder if there will be a separate one for the Fantasy Art line?

    18. I'm the same, I was telling myself no and then bam, I'm doomed. Let's hope I can wriggle finances enough to get the little one.

    19. Seeing the hippogryphs makes me super hopeful that Fairyland will one day release a dragon!:XD: Can you imagine a wonderful Fantasy Art line dragon that is compatible with a cute Realfee.:daisy

    20. I would throw my money at that so fast, I would actually sit up and wait for it to come available on Denverdoll and snatch it up instantly, no thought about it.

    21. That would be super!!! I do have a dragon of sorts, but a really well designed one would be better for my story.

I'm wondering if they will have more PF sized RP event faceplates, I'm desperate for another to complete my trio of fairies. But whatever happens, I'm ordering the blue 'griff and the little boy, even if it means the CC is blown out,

    22. that i would buy without hesitation! i'm thinking that however cute the hippogriffs are, i'm probably just going to get the new ones as basics to steal the bodies for my two floating heads

    23. A dragon or a proper centaur would have me for sure, especially since I imagine the centaur articulation would surpass anything currently on the market.

    24. I guess you weren't a fan of the Luts tiny delf centaurs?

Yes dragons would absolutely be my wallet's doom. Or what about an aquatic seahorse (think Loch Ness monster)/water dinosaur?

Just wondering - are these the first bjd hippogryphs that was ever produced?

On a different note - I think from the picture reference that the wings might be two pieces that are articulated with the help of magnets. I imagine the wings attach to the hippogryph's back with magnets & then another set of magnets attach the two wing parts. The use of magnets instead of stretchy string might be easier to take apart, pose, and a bonus would be that the wings attach to the Realfee back?

The Realfees, Fairy line, and Fairy line60 might be my favorite hands down because these bjds makes my imagination go kaboom with inspiration!8-)

    25. To the contrary....I own three, plus two Honey Delf centaurs. I like them very much. However, FL articulation in their standard LF/PKF as compared to TD/HD leads me to believe that the articulation in FL centaurs would be amazing. :D

Daisy Dayes centaurs are also incredibly well articulated, but to my knowledge she hasn't made any in this size range.

    26. Totally agree with you! I own a tiny delf centuar & I love him! I still got to paint him (my hand injuries have really put a damper on my job and hobbies). Fairyland would totally make an awesome centaur - maybe make their own unicorn? Ok I should just say any mythical beast by Fairyland would be the death toll for my wallet.

Growing up my parents allowed me to watch Flight of the Dragons, Serendipity the Pink Dragon, the Last Unicorn...which gives away my age & means I never grew up from being a big daydreamer. LoL, I think I'm in good company in this forum. ;)

    27. i have tiny delf centaurs as well, but would love a fairyland centaur in this size. i have been strongly tempted to hybrid one of my centaurs with a pukifee , but the imperfect fit even after modding has kept me from doing it so far. a full fairyland centaur would be awesome, and this size would still be small enough to fit in my collection. so i am definitely hoping for both a dragon and a centaur eventually. they could probably re-use at least part of the mold to make a centaur or even a pegasus!

i'm still somewhat tempted to get the hippogriff just as part of my fantasy pets collection, but i can't see adding the realfee upper body to it. it just looks too mixed up. what would you call a cross between a hippogriff and a centaur anyway? a cenpogriff?

    28. My Luts Honey Delf centaur has awesome articulation -- the dolly friend who's a professional graphics designer for video games couldn't stop playing with her. And with my RealFee fauns, who work really well with the centaur.

So I have the 'well balanced' centaur of my childhood dreams, along with a (Littlefee) fox maiden, her (Pipos Sugar Robin) sidekick/spirit animal, two fauns (crazy granny, 'responsible' PKF-head young'un), my Mai-mermaid, a LTF Leah/RF bunny-pooka, and a Luts Zuzu Delf reindeer anthro & papillon-dog anthro (like our three little rescue dogs)... and they make a great little village. My inner child is thrilled!

    29. That's great :D. My expectations and hopes are a bit different, based on my own experience. FL has blown me away with every new engineering release, so I expect this would be no different. YMMV.

Yeah, Fairyland has done that before -- I have a PukiFee Icis and the LittleFee Cheshire Cat, both of which have two-piece (four-piece for the set) wings. To be honest, I love the idea, but in practice it's been less than totally successful. It's hard to get the balance right on such constructions, so the 'outer' (top) parts always want to swing in opposite directions... or just make the whole wing sag sadly towards the ground. The PKF wings just won't work for me at all; when I use the Cheshire Cat wings, I've taken to discretely propping them up with extra silicon putty, or tucking them into fabric folds to hold them upright. I love the Cheshire wings, and don't regret paying so much for that fullset, *but*...

It's possible the experience earned from past attempts have made the hippogriff wings better balanced, but my prior experiences are one reason why I'm not standing by with my credit card for the new release. And won't I look like an idiot if the hippogriffs are wonderful and I'm frantically searching for a second-hand one on the Marketplace!

    31. Oh, I wonder how much these will be?

    32. I think all of us are wondering that.

      Teddy

    33. I'd say that was a certainty! :drool

    34. A hippogriff turnaround video clip was posted on Here
(You have to be signed in to Facebook to see it and is very short clip but exciting to see how the hippogriff balance on one leg)

I'm so fearful that the hippogriffs are going to be an outrageous price. I'm hoping that there is a deal that you get for buying a Realfee with a hippogriff.

*EDIT: I just signed out of Facebook and the link to the video clip worked! Yay! To see it click on the above "Here" word.

    35. Not being on Facebook I'll have to do without seeing the video - which is no bad thing since I can do without the temptation.

    36. Oh gosh! I'm totally smitten with these! And I just got done telling my husband that I was pretty sure I'd finally got all of the dolls I needed~ It figures~ I've never purchased from Fairyland before; do they offer layaway? Or is there a dealer who offers long layaways?

    37. Fairyland does not do layaways but Denver Doll Emporium and Dolk (Fairyland's Dealers) do.

    38. Believe it or not, I want to want the hippogriffs... their bodies are adorable but I don't like the faces- they are too cutesy :/ My wallet is very happy though.

    39. i wonder if you could fix that with the right faceup? if not modding the beak to be more prominent and sharper would probably help.

    40. I was thinking the same thing. A mod or different paint job could probably make it less cute. Fairyland usually makes their paint jobs for their tinies very cutesy. Although there was the Pukifee Dony that had a very adult face up. Lol, guess you never know what Fairyland will do when it comes to face painting. I'm worried that they might not offer blushing for the hippogriffs (don't know if I can manage a simple paint job with my injury - it's hard to maneuver a computer mouse sometimes).*_*

    41. I actually love the cutesiness, but I'd rather have a more realistic color instead of pink or blue.

    42. They're taking too long already. I've almost talked myself out of the hippogriff!

      • x 1
    43. Taking too long...yes, but go on and admit it, it'll never happen...the 'griffs are just too delectable!

    44. Yay! Fairyland posted a longer video on youtube about the hippogriff's mechanics.
      Introduction: Fantasy Art Line Video

I was right about the wings being magnetic to the back but definitely wrong about the wings being connected by magnets on top. Really wonderful video because they show the girl Realfee with no faceup! The only thing is I don't think I see the new boy Realfee. Pano and May also make it into the video!:kitty1

    45. I am the same way. No more, I'm done, and then FL comes out with these. After seeing the video and what they can do, I see $$$, but I need one. Could this one really be my last :atremblin

    46. Guh, I cannot wait to get my hands on one of those. T_T

    47. Oh, that video should convence my husband of the posing! LOL! Last night he flat refused to believe it unless he saw it in person - and since I no longer have a pukifee or pukipuki I couldn't prove it to him.

    48. THANK YOU! And yes, it looks like Fairyland has solved my problem with earlier two-part wings -- these new wings are *strung* at the center, so they won't be as liable to pivot & flop (at least until the elastic loses its tension). The 'C-clamp' that holds the wings into the body is clever, too. Even though it probably means we won't be able to use those wings on our existing RealFee bodies -- no winged Pano fauns, darn!

    49. That video has me soooo excited. Guh they look amazing.

    50. Oh, WOW! I've been lurking, wondering if there might be a hippogriff in my future. I had almost convinced myself I didn't need one until I looked at the video. The wings and the posing are phenomenal! And the head is ridiculously cute. I would much prefer the resin color in the video to blue or pink. I wonder if it will be one of the choices? I wonder if I will even be able to afford one of these...

    51. What a great video, it's wonderful to see how it all works. The leg joints alone are amazing, so much thought and work must have gone into creating these new little cuties.

Also, there's a bit where they adjust the ears/wings on the new girl's head, so I think that pretty much confirms that they're magnetic. Phew, much easier to get a wig on then! :D

I'm trying not to get too excited as I'm sure the added expense of a hippogriff will make them very pricey indeed, but I will be sorely tempted and may well end up going for that new girl... Her sweet face is just too much for me to resist!

    52. Wonderful video, thanks for the link! Looks like at least the female has no ears, like May, although that hasn't bothered me as much as I thought.

    53. Happy to help everyone with the link to the video:daisy

I'm so excited that the new faceplate has no ears because I really love the idea of changing the ears..lol. Once my injuries have healed more I look forward to sculpting my own Realfee ears for the new faceplate. :love
I know Fairyland doesn't have enough hands to sell Fantasy parts but I would love it if they make & sell Realfee accessories such as cute magnetic ears. For now I'll make my own. <3

    54. I think the one in the video is the "pink" version. I think that one is NS resin and its just the blushing that is pink.

    55. I have to chime in here and agree that wow that hippogriff looks amazing. I like the cutesy face! I also don't want to know the price haha. And I'm currently in the middle of a layaway for a Mari, so don't think this will be happening for me. I think I still like Mari's face better but I'm liking these two new ones. I didn't like the first two when this line was first introduced enough to be interested, but I definitely like the direction they are going.

    56. I never thought I'd be into a smaller doll, or a tiny one at that, but whew, that hippogriff. >_> I know next to nothing about Fairyland or tiny dolls for that matter, please forgive my ignorance in this subject. :abow: Can anyone tell me approximately how tall the griffon's likely to be?

    57. UGH - that video is amazing and has me wishing I had the money to at least give it a try but if a basic RLF goes for $270 can you imagine what the hippogriff is gonna go for, with all those moving parts...?!? It's a bigger doll than the RLF itself. I think my paypal account would sooner hire an assassin to kill me :ablah:

      • x 3
    58. My only restraint with getting the hippograff is .... what if they come out with a larger version later on?! I would need that for my dolls' storyline!

      • x 1
    59. why then your larger one would just have a baby/child ;)
