This is the PukiPuki thread. It used to mainly be standard for Pukifee to wear 10mm. What sculpt do you have? It could also depend on the sculpt. 12 and 14 would never fit in a pukifee. ...well, 12 might. But I doubt it. Anyway, there is a pukifee thread too.

 

Oh thanks Ballerina Ill see if I can find the pukifee thread..my eyes get so sore from trying to find things on here because they dont have a google type thing..well I havent found one if they do....Goodness I cant remember her name but you could be right about the size..maybe I just need bigger iris & pupils..just looked at her box & she is a Flora..Im getting forgetful.

Speaking of eye sizes. Can anyone give me recommendations on an eye size for Rose? Her stock eyes are so tiny in those great big eyes of hers

Thats how I feel my doll looks but maybe Ill go for bigger pupils if there are any out there..sometimes being new to this isnt so easy.

 

I just have 8mm in my Rose, but I agree the original defaults she came with looked much smaller than her current ones. It could be brand since she came with Glib and now Iah wears Safrin eyes. But I was also thinking it might be color because my Rose came with really light purple eyes - light like yours really. Now that she's got much darker eyes, they don't look as small to me even though they're supposed to be the same size...

I've actually re-positioned her eyes since this photo and don't seem to have the same small feeling as her originals but I don't have any pictures of it yet....

 

Thank you! Maybe it is just those icky stock eyes. I’m going to try some better 8mm. Someone in our local group suggested maybe FL sent her out with 6mm. It wouldn’t surprise me. From certain angles I can see the putty behind her eyes.

 

I think compared to my girls eyes yours look fine but mine are a very pale violet/lavender colour a bit like vertefae girls eyes.Maybe a darker colour may do the trick then. Thanks.

 

When you say very pale violet/lavender, you mean anything like this? vertefae's picture looks blue to me is why I ask Iah's Flowers by Eien Historia, on Flickr I was not kidding about her eyes being super light when I got her!

 

My roses are blue and yellow. Weird color. I’ve ordered some deep teal in 8mm on eBay. Hoping they fill her sockets a bit more

I think my girls eyes seem lighter yours at least have a nice colour..yes I think her dolls eyes are a nice blue...Someone told me my girls eyes are fine with all the white showing but I dont like it...xD.

@vertefae Wow yeah they do look smaller than the normal 8mm. When I first got my Rose I struggled with her eyes. I personally think it is the sculpt. The big eyes kind of make eye placement a bit trickier. I had the same issue with my Littlefee Rose. Here is my puki Rose wearing basic 8mm glass if that helps?

I think her eyes look fine they seem bigger & much bigger pupils. She is a cutie...is she a puki puki?

I had a boo-boo last night. I was taking her head off to try the body with my LY and the elastic snapped. I didn’t know wether to laugh or cry. So now I guess I’ll be restringing her this weekend. What rotten luck.

 

Oh my goodness Id be crying because she would forever be in pieces because my hands couldnt do whats needed to get her back together & I dont know anyone here that could help me. Hope you get it done with no problems..I thought the string was suppose to be really strong. All the best.

It had stretched and snapped near the knot. I think she was strung to tight before and the tension damaged the elastic. I’ve done Pukifees before so I’m hoping this isn’t to much worse

 

Well you are able to do it then if you have done others..Ive read some amazing scary stories about what some people have to do when they restring their dolls.... hope it never happens to me...xD.

 

@sapphire7 Its definitely all about how you want her to look, so if you don't like the whites, you can definitely look around to find something to change them into!

@redmaiko I've been playing around with repositioning my Rose's eyes recently and I know what you mean! The shape and their size just left me getting a wall eyed stare or I couldn't get them quite the same. I'm still tinkering with them. I don't think what I've got for eye putty is helping me though...

That looks like a soy fiber wig. My daughter's begun making those (not on any marketplace yet as she's refining

Can anyone recommend where to get 6mm ghost / blind / pupil-less eyes? I have enough trouble with this size and I'm not finding anything. Thanks.

Fairyland has a winter event up. There are no new Puki Puki, but they are available in tan. I'm tempted to get a Flora or Rory, though I don't really have the money...

 

I’ve always wanted a tan... I don’t know which sculpt....Madeline maybe

 

I love the tan - I've blown my January doll budget, though... I think I'd like a Darjeeling. Or maybe a Pukisha.

Anyway, for now Truffle can rest happily in the knowledge that she's still the only PukiPuki in the household.
And she just got a whole new shipment of wigs and clothes, so she's a happy little piggy.



Truffle and her best friend Yarrow (a DZ Momo) are the most spoiled of all my dolls. They have literally dozens of little Mattel Kelly dresses between them and a whole rainbow of wigs.

 

Late reply to this (I haven't been getting alerts that this thread is posting! I'm so confused!) but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one doing this! I always feel like a jinx because there hasn't been a new puki since I bought my first - talk about a weird coincidence!

Oh my goodness, Truffle is adorable! That wig and outfit look great on her! I don't see nearly enough of her sculpt around.

Any tips on making glasses small enough for Pukipuki? The wire I used is so soft I have to keep reshaping them.

 

I think her glasses are cute! I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions for different one though, sorry! Ruthie is a cute dragonrider, she's clearly got her priorities right!

She's requested a cloak, and I have wefts prepping for a wig. Then maybe we'll see about a saddle for her dragon.

I already made a first draft wig (which was decent for a first run) so it'll be better than that one. And the beauty of Puki projects is that there's always a surplus of material left over, just in case.

 

I remember one when I first joined the boards so its been a heck of a long time since I've seen one myself! Do keep sharing, Cochon needs a little more love!

Don't I know it! I've got two and they're the ones I've sewed the most for and I swear it would be nicer if I could get less fabric some times!

 

@HeavensChaos I got a pack of 4"×4" square fabric pieces from Wish. They're great for puki clothes! See Ruthie's instagram for more.

When did Fairyland use the red pukipuki boxes? I'm tracing Ruthie's "genealogy" (/provenance?) and don't have a CoA to work with since the doll was made before 2009. I've gone back 3 previous foster parents, and the furthest hasn't been on DoA in months to get my message asking if they were OP & when they got (what is now) my Pong.
Alternatively, does anyone know how else to track back?

 

Both of mine came in the red puki boxes, Set was from 2011 and Iah is 2013 so I'm not sure if that's the best way to track back.... first thing that comes to mind for early pukis is the little metal plates, but I dunno if they came with basics and I don't know when they stopped. You also don't mention one so....I wonder, its possible that the furthest back of her foster parents could have posted her in the puki database? If there's a post you could have Ruthie's arrival to that person I suppose.....

 

I only have Maca (my Pukisha), who's from 2008, but I think box colors just kind of flow randomly with FairyLand. Maca had a red box, and when I've ordered dolls in other sizes, I've gotten an assortment of colors. Three LTFs: two brown, one lavender. Three LTFs: all teal. Two LTFs: two red. Two MNFs: dark green and purple. I think they order in batches in varying colors and just send whichever ones are at hand at the time.

Edit: Maca's also from the era of metal plates, and did come with one as a basic, if that helps at all!

 

I'm out of touch - are the red puki boxes now 'random color' puki boxes? I've lurked in a lot of the Fairyland threads and the box opening section and seen all the different MNF, LTF and PKF boxes, but I can't remember seeing a different colored puki box! I have been off the boards for extended periods in recent years though.....

 

Actually, yes, that helps a lot! Ruthie has the metal plate and is a basic doll, with has a red box. Glad to know she's from around 2008; that fits with her being sold a few times in 2009. Thanks!

@ihnasarima I didn't know when they did it myself! I just knew they were gone by the time I got mine new from Fairyland. I'm glad the metal plates could help you figure out generally when Ruthie was made!

 

Between the feedback threads and the standing plate, I'm only missing up to 8 months. Depends if the one I'm waitimg to hear from was the OP or if I'm missing a person. PP Pongs didn't exist before July 2008, and I've traced this one back to Mar 2009.

The box color isn't a good time mark/reference; I spotted a red PP box in RealPuki box opening vid on YouTube.

 

I bought my PP pong (basic) in March 2010 and she came in a red box with no metal plate. I bought a Poseidon PP in August 2010 and he came in a green/teal box with a metal plate and I always assumed the difference in box color was because he was a FP.

The other difference between the two is that Pong came with a molded foam insert and Poseidon came in a pillowbag

 

Try "half-hard" jewelry wire in about a 20 or 22 gauge. It's usually easy to work with, but better at holding its shape.
