Body Comparison Fairyland Minifee vs Souldoll Kid

Dec 14, 2023

    1. Is there anyone here who have experience with both the Minifee girl body (both active line and moe line are fine, but a-line preferred) and the new double jointed Souldoll girl’s body? If you have both, I would love to see them compared in terms of posability.

I’m waiting on a Souldoll head that I want to buy a body forand I have an affinity for Fairyland, but the Souldoll body looks really nice too, if a bit less stable? I used to own a Fafner from Souldoll well over 10-15 years ago, and I remember the body feeling weak. Is the new one the same?

is there another brand’s msd body that will look good with the Souldoll head, that matches their white skin well that I should consider?

    2. I no longer own a minifee, but I used to have an a-line body, and I own both souldoll new double jointed and n.l. kid bodies. I strongly prefer both soulkid bodies over the mnf, part of it is my personal preference for bigger size but I also find them a lot easier to pose and handle (especially the legs and torsos!). The N.L. body stands like a rock - I find the elbow system quite similar to minifee but their knees are fully double jointed which is a good plus. The new double body is a bit more iffy with standing and arm poses than N.L. but I love the thigh joints and the options they give - I'd still consider it an upgrade over minifee in most aspects. They also look very natural in whatever way you place them and are great at slouching.

Some minuses versus minifee would maybe be less hand options and the wide thighs of the new double body that are harder to find pants for (less of a problem with n.l.; shoes, tops fit interchangeably for both). The new double body is also not the best of the best with arm posing (compared to minifee) - some simple shoulder sueding helps a lot with it, however.

All in all, I find the soulkid bodies great and sturdy - I think they've definitely made effort in updating the older bodies with better engineering and more flush-fitting joints.

I'm unfortunately away from my dolls for a bit but if you want any photos, I can see what I have on my harddrives :)

    3. Thanks so much for the feedback <3 my last few dolls have been exclusively Fairyland dolls and I love the system and how easy it is to change hands/feet/heads on them (which would be a bit negated by shoving a Souldoll head on it but ohwell), but I don’t like how they’re not able to sit with their legs underneath them. The moe-line is a little better in this regard, but has a shallower range at the hip joint, leaving them leaning backwards a little bit :s

aesthetically I prefer the torso of the nl Souldoll body, but I don’t like that it’s lacking mobility joints on the thighs. Do you think you could post some pictures of the two bodies together at some point for me?

    4. I'm away from my dolls until january unfortunately, but here are some dark pictures of both of them :sweat Both torsos bend pretty well in every direction and they both manage to sit on their legs effortlessly, which I don't have a good photo of at hand. I'm happy to take pictures of any pose you're interested in in the new year though! Also, this video was very useful for me.

The thigh joint on the new double is very nice - it also locks in place, as do the upper hips, so there's no constantly turning leg problem (which drove me nuts with my minifee). I don't necessarily miss it on the n.l. body because it can still do a lot without it (I have no problem getting it into the "cute" anime sitting pose), but I do understand wanting to have it when there's the option.

    5. I am back and have some comparative posing shots for you @Fractal :) The N.L. body is small bust and has been sueded in hips and shoulders; I've changed the stringing to run from neck to ankles instead of stringing legs separately like Souldoll does it. The new double body has a big bust, is strung from neck to ankles, and has no sueding.

      Red x-s are clickable :)

The N.L. torso joint holds poses a bit better imo. The new double tends to want to snap into a position but is not as great with in-between poses. I also have an easier time to get the N.L. to stand but that could also be the sueding and stringing.

The N.L. body certainly wins in terms of arm posing, the new double can't really cross the arms with the new elbow joints. N.L. tends to want to sit with knees apart and new double wants them together like a lady :sweat

Kneeling is not a problem for either.

The new double is obviously better at poses like this with the thigh mobility joints but N.L. is not that far behind!

This worked better with N.L. with the legs strung separately but not so much when the string runs neck-to-toe... New double locks in place easily tho.

Hope this helps you a bit :) Lmk if you want to see anything else specific.
