Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 66

Feb 2, 2021

    1. @Spectrum_Rhapsody I always start unstringing my minifees from the feet. I think you can't get to the s-hook otherwise.

      • x 2
    2. @Spectrum_Rhapsody I usually start with the feet not head for minifee. I hope this help.:thumbup

    3. Thanks! And welcome to the state! Hope your girl makes it in one piece! Mail definitely gets dicier the further outside of Anchorage you get.

@Spectrum_Rhapsody like everyone else already said, start with the feet and just unhook the elastic there, then pull the neck mechanism up and off the neck. You don't need to fuss with the s-hook at all, just unknot the elastic and retie it at the length you need!

    4. Well as might still be a bit before I get my Luha and the extra body with the super busty option, I have decided to be productive in my wait. I got a Bowser Amiibo from Target and have slowly murdered it for the shell, tonight I finally got it to come off.
I took a photo of it with a MNF to do the final size test. I used my Sia boy Ezra as he is almost always shirtless anyway. XD
      [IMG]
I think it's going to work perfectly. I am slowly crossing things off the to do list for Bowsette. (My Halloween Luha) When she gets home she will have her hair, eyes, and now shell. I can't sew her a dress till in hand, but I have things for it set aside too. <3

    5. @Tippetarius love the mini update! can't wait to see bowsette, it's such a cute idea! RIP that amiibo lol

    6. Does anyone have or seen a painted juri 2020 head? the minifee one from the event last summer?

    7. @captainkyo There's some (including mine) on instagram. Search #minifeejuri20 or just #juri20

Here's a link to my doll's profile too:

    8. :D thank you!

And those bottom lashes are so cool!

I finally got mine but feel like I liked the grey promo pics better than in person lol.
Not sure what to do with her. XD

    9. I just started the faceup on mine over the weekend! I will share when he is all done. :)

    10. Thank you! I love doing my doll's lashes like that. :3nodding: I know what you mean the gray promo pic looks different than the final version. Maybe they tweaked it a bit before casting?

    11. Can anyone share a Rin? I'm so excited to likely get her this summer!!

    12. Is more Echo okay? If so here she is!

    13. Woot! I got a shipping notice for my extra tan hand parts I ordered! Placed it on January 23rd, so that was pretty fast!

    16. Thank you @malvinas & @dxgirly! Your girls are so pretty!! And mercy is beautiful @malvinas! I can't wait to have my own minifee :D

    17. I caved and have a tan Sylvia on layaway with DDE. Hopefully once I get my tax refund I can pay her off and she'll be home soon! I've been bitten by the tan MNF bug, and decided to finally order the one still in stock.

    18. Popping in while I feel up for it to share more Willow. I finally got around to changing her outfit and taking new pics. Not the greatest lighting, but I still think she's cute. Also please excuse the back ground... I'm not feeling all that well, so I didn't bother with my usual set up this time around.

    19. Shes so cute @Zavrinas!! I love her hat and pastels!!

    20. Has anyone sueded their Minifee with pliver? The joints fit very flush and I was wondering what anyone's experience with that was? I might be attempting it later tonight if I can ever get her darn foot unstrung. I am afraid I am going to break her magnetic ankle joint trying to get that thin magnet part apart to get at the foot hook.

    21. @Zavrinas
She looks adorable! Oh and I have almost that same cute mermaid shirt, the diff is mine is short sleeves. I got it for my mer-boy Ezra, but his girlfriend Belladonna stole it. XD

    22. @SacredMonsoon Thank you, I made all of her clothes and accessories. :) The hat is actually part of a pajama set that I made for her when she was in her old shell (a sleeping chloe). I struggled a bit getting it on her noggin a bit lol

@Tippetarius Thank you. aww it is similar. The neckline on yours is nicer too. Willow's is actually unfinished, cause I made it by hand sewing and not on the machine. It's actually the prototype of a pattern I made. Your Ezra and Belladonna are adorable together!

    23. Rens made it home today! She doesn’t have a name yet but I am getting some hippie “flower” child vibes, not sure if thats what I’m going to go with, but it’s there. She’s minifee number 5 for me, but my first tan minifee and I just can’t stop staring at her... What a glow! She was a complete impulse buy from DDE’s in stock items so I don’t have her planned out the way I normally would when a doll arrives. I am pretty happy with the company faceup, I’m probably obnoxiously picky when it comes to my doll’s faceups and would usually find something I didn’t care for with the company one (heavy eyelids, or not enough lip paint, eyebrows). I’m going to keep this faceup for a while though, I think they styled it beautifully and they even improved their eyelashes! Okay I know I’m rambling now, I’m just happy I get to add her to the thread!

    24. @blackcat87 I love your Rens so much she is just gorgeous<3 I didn't order her when she came out because tan wasn't an option. I had no idea or completely missed she came in tan. Her face up is just stunning, happy you like it to<3.

    25. I fell off the thread :doh

@Zavrinas omgosh she's so cute in that hat, and I love her faceup :D
@Tippetarius what a cute couple. A little switcharoo on the little mermaid :D
@blackcat87 , she's stunning! Due to scarcity of availability and me always impulse buying, I only have one fairyland tan doll, but she's my absolute favorite. She happened to be my grail and when I could finally order her, tan was available! Yaaay! But she's an F60 so .... That sweater is such a gorgeous blue, yummy!

@Spectrum_Rhapsody , I've never felt the need to suede but it's possible that a very thin layer of hot glue on the socket side of the joint would be enough to give you extra grip?? But you're right, they are very close fitting joints, so do be careful :) Hope it works for you!

    26. @Lillyroos thank you so much! And I thought the same thing about her being unavailable in tan skin when she was released. I decided then and there that she was going to be my next doll, but that I’d wait for a tan option to come along with her, no matter how long the wait might be! I was so surprised to find her in stock at Denver Doll.

@IngieBee thank you, I truly love her. I was in awe of the tan skin when I unboxed her. It just has such a warmth to it in person. I’m glad you got your grail, it’s so exciting when things work out like that! Juri08 is my grail but honestly I just couldn’t bring myself to buy a head that expensive.. BUT Rens “smiling” eyes and slight smirk really reminded me of Juri08 so I’m happy!

    27. I looove the new minifee boy and I'm thinking about ordering him-- I was just wondering if mnf girl clothes fit the boy bodies well? Their measurements look similar. I thought it would be nice because there are a lot of cute mnf girl clothes out there.

    28. My muscle aline boy is much larger in the waist and shoulders than my aline girl. But they can wear the same pants, pretty much- I think his thighs are also bigger than hers.

    29. So far I have only done inside the neck on her head and it fits nicely. I still can't get her unstrung. I think she is too tight. Her torso joint snaps violently if it gets moved out of resting position. I think I may have to pull the foot out, hold the elastic with pliers to prevent snap back damage and cut the elastic to get her unstrung. So I am waiting for an order of new elastics before I take her apart to see how sueding would work.

    30. The way to unstring them is to take the foot ball off, then the other foot ball. Usually, they clamp the hook at the neck onto the chord, so the chord needs to escape through the neck. Thus you need to release both feet (usually only one foot is required to remove the chord on a doll) Then there is a separate chord for the arms, and to remove that one, you unhook the hands (usually only one is required :) ) Hope that helps?

    31. You don't need to cut the elastic after you've unhooked the foot. Just let go of it (with the doll laying on a towel or similar soft surface so the pieces don't go flying). Cutting the elastic is pointless once you've unhooked the point that's holding it in place. :)

    32. @ihnasarima The girls can wear the boy's full sets though. The boys do get lovely shirts. I really like them on the MNF girls.

    33. My a la carte Luha came in from DDE today. She’s absolutely beautiful. I’m so glad I decided to get her.

pic behind spoiler because she’s nude

    34. I think you're overthinking all this, lol, there is no reason to be cutting her elastic. All you have to do is pull on her ankle to expose the elastic and unhook it from there. There is definitely not enough tension on that elastic to cause any sort of 'damage' once it pops free of that ankle hook. If there, was, your dolls joints/limbs/neck would already be cracked (and that'd be super hard to even accomplish in the first place). If you need an extra pair of 'hands' to help with the process, I recommend picking up a cheap pair of hemostats from walmart, clamp them across the exposed elastic to give yourself slack to work with, and allow them to rest across the ankle to take the tension while you unhook the foot.

    35. @dxgirly she is so lovely! Love that face!

Say, has anyone ever figured out the closest pantone number to Fairyland resin? I went to Home despair today and found a very close match in a Behr paint chip, then I found a website that told me the hex of that color, then I went to pantone, and they took the hex number and gave me some choices. I'm guessing 475C is the closest but I was hoping someone else has had more hands on experience with the colors and matching them?

I'm getting a couple of ResinSoul bodies to kind of double up on my Marcia heads that are incoming, which is funny because I told myself that they will all belong to my existing Marcia as extra heads/looks but instead I now want bodies :doh Actually, I might give one of them to my DEF who has an older RS body. These are a bit of an upgrade, but they have to fit the dress my DES is wearing or no go :D

    36. @dxgirly She's a beautiful doll. Love to see what face up you will give her.

@PaeoniaDrop When I ordered ns I was so worried her outfit would not look good on ns skin but she looks just gorgeous. Love the pictures you take always so beautiful. Do you have more pictures of Luha?

Sorry I forgot and pictures of the biting lip? There is a whole unboxing video thank you. I hope FL will sent you an other heeled foot and fix the not opening head cap.

    37. Oh congratulations @PaeoniaDrop , she is super lovely, look at that! Gorgeous!

    38. Thank you @IngieBee and @Lillyroos! I was also uncertain how I would feel about her in NS having not seen her. I do like the NS better because I like my white resin with a touch of pink undertone and I hear that BW is paper white.

I do have more photos that will be going up on my IG throughout the week. I wanted to share the box opening as soon as possible, so that was what I was working on. I'm hoping to take her out this weekend on a day trip. I'll bring her event head then. I really wish I could bring the sleeping head, but I'll probably have to send it back and have them replace it. I am not looking forward to it because of the Korea EMS situation.

    39. @PaeoniaDrop what was wrong with the sleeping head? Was it that you were unable to remove the headcap? Saw the issue with the foot too. That’s really unfortunate. I wish their quality control was better for the price they charge. sigh

She is beautiful as a fullset, though. Thank you for taking the time to make the video. <3

    40. @dxgirly Yes we were unable to remove the head cap. Both my husband and I tried and we even tried a prying tool he uses for his plastic models, but there wasn't a way we could add additional force without potentially damaging something. She has a beautiful face up, so I didn't want to wreck an artist's work. I hope that Fairyland can provide a solution. The foot opening is too small, so it can't properly fit on the ankle. I tested other feet to make sure it was the foot rather than the ankle that had the issue.

    41. It twists off, don't use too much force, just a firm grip.

    42. @PaeoniaDrop congratulations she’s gorgeous! What a beautiful set and faceup. So sorry about her foot and the head cap. I hope they fix it quickly for you! Have fun with your weekend day trip, can’t wait to see more.

    45. @blackcat87 Thank you. I know they have been having less staff, but I definitely hope for a fix.

@Lerika She is so beautiful on that background. Congratulations!

    46. @Lerika She's such a beautiful doll and your picture is just amazing!

@PaeoniaDrop Like @IngieBee mentioned the sleeping head twists off. It's not like the open eye head where you have to pull it off. With the sleeping heads you have to turn the upper head cap to one side and the lower part to the other side.

      • x 2
    47. @Lillyroos and @IngieBee All my other SP heads were a lift motion so I had tried that first, but I just tried turning and it didn't work. Is there a video out there of this motion?

    48. Oh my gosh, I'm so wrong! I was thinking of my F60s I'm so sorry!

@PaeoniaDrop please forgive me! Yes, they lift from the base of the neck up. When you put it back on, you hook at the top and snap it at the bottom, OMGosh, I'm so sorry for leading you astray! I think it's safe to pry gently with a fingernail but if it doesn't come off, I'd suspect it was warped after casting?

    49. @IngieBee It was too tight to even try slipping something in between at the neck. We tried with a plastic prying tool, which is made for 1/12 models and it wasn't thin enough. We do suspect it didn't finish curing and then shrunk.

    50. @PaeoniaDrop Does it have a faceup? If not, heating resin usually causes it to pop back into it's original form (from the mold) and you could soak it in hot water, I've boiled resin without any harm, and see if it will let go that way, but if you don't want to do anything to the resin because Fairyland is going to make it right by you, then just leave it.

Here is a tip, when I got my first BJD, my cat was a baby and got ahold of her (she was an elfdoll tiny) and she bit deep puncture wounds into the doll's face and arm :horror: I read I could boil the resin and it would pop back, so I did and it did! The worst puncture did leave a very tiny mark but it almost disappeared. I also once ended up with an extra set of feet and it was before they made heeled feet for minis, so I tried boiling it and forming it into a heeled foot. It was too thick, but I tried and tried and it was an Iplehouse old time RS, the one that had the first uv blocker, not like today, it was transparent-ish, but it didn't change color, and it's still the same color as the doll today. So as long as there is no faceup, it should be safe to soak in a hot bath, even a boiling bath, but that's probably not necessary. Still, only do it if you're stuck and there is no other help. I don't think it'll get hurt, but you never know what's inside the resin, a bubble, invisible crack?? So there is risk involved!

I am worried that it's a sleeping head though, I mean, if water can't get inside, it may not work.

    51. @IngieBee Water can get in through the neck hole but because it has a face up I'll have to wait on Fairyland's answer. They haven't replied, but I can see that they have viewed my private video of the struggle, so I'm hoping they'll say something about it soon. (And that foot)

    52. fingers crossed it'll get resolved without any hassle @PaeoniaDrop :)

    53. I haven't been able to get the foot unhooked, I can't get the ankle joint exposed.

Maybe that tool will help. I've unstrung dolls before, but the FL ankle joint is alien to me, from videos that I have seen, the hook is encased inside the ankle joint? I have only been able to separate the ankle from the calf and there is no visible S hook. I have no way to separate the two ankle joint pieces without risking breaking them due to the tension and potential fingernail scuffs trying to pop that tiny piece out. I have no way to grip the small piece where the magnet lives, my hands can't grab it and separate it. I could use a tool on it, but i don't want to mar it. Tried to photograph with one hand holding the joint out that I have accomplished, but it was hard to keep it out one handed.

    54. The minifeeluha tag on insta switched from "fewer than 100 posts" to "100+ posts" lol. Loving all the pics, she's so pretty

      • x 3
    55. @Spectrum_Rhapsody , Oh wow, I don't have a MOE body with removable feet, but I just looked at my F65 and it looks like the ankle bit comes apart to access whatever the line is hooked on! OK, I just did this to my F65 and I must say hemostats were an absolute MUST HAVE!

Geepers, look at how dry my hands are again, ugh!

Reading a little deeper, yah, the way you separate them is to remove the tension on the whole ankle joint using the hemostat which clamps down on the chord and keeps it from pulling back into the leg. even when I did it above, I couldn't get complete looseness, I had to pull a little to show you them separated. The more chord you can get outside the leg and give the ankle space the better. I hope that helps?!?!
