Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 65

Jul 31, 2020

    1. @Lillyroos I redid the shot, but it's like 9pm here, so it's not completely realistic due to the lights. You can find the shot here - I'll take it again tomorrow in sunlight.

Here's a shot taken tonight of my Chloe, who was new in 2014 and my 11 year old LTF, who was new in 2009.

    2. @Lillyroos I can't post the picture here as this is a MNF thread but I have a white Pukipuki who is well over 10 years old and as a few have said her resin is a creamy colour now, sort of ivory shade (with a tiny hint of green if your colour vision is incredibly good) if that helps at all. Not so bad on a tiny doll but it will be more noticable on a larger one.
It takes years to reach that and chances are by that time your taste will probably have changed anyway so it can always be given a new look to incorporate the yellowing.

Take on the advice but also go with your heart and gut instinct. it's your doll, your taste and no matter what skintone you buy there's always a chance you may not bond with it anyway or you may find it's better than you could have imagined.

    3. Need advice for a Celine head.
Can a 6-7" wig that has some stretch fit Celine?
Info state she wears 12-16 eyes. 16s look like all iris with not much white.
What size eyes are best for Celine? Would love to see pictures of 16mm small iris and 14mm small iris.
      Assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    4. @TeaPartyRevolution Thank you so much for all the pictures. Your Cloe is such a lovely color even after so many years. She is such a beautiful doll btw. Someday I may need a Cloe looking at your pictures.

@Blodeuwedd Thank you for your advice. So true some dolls no matter the skin tone I just didn't like and other I just took a chance on turned out be gorgeous. Lol funny you mentioned the greenish tone. The pictures my friend sent me look green on my computer when they look cream on hers.

    5. No problems at all - In regards to the green, I have never had one of my Fairyland WS' go green. I do have green CP dolls, but they are much older, when the company did have skin tone known as "Beauty Green" because of the undertone. CP stopped using that resin when Fairyland was formed.

That's not to say occasionally a Fairyland doll doesn't go green, but I'm not sure of the circumstances of it. I haven't done much to preserve the colour of my Chloe at all, she sits out in a room with a window, as do all my dolls.

    6. I just received a new wig from @konakona135 today - it’s a hard cap Soy wig!
It fits my Maya perfectly and I *love* the color on her!!! Maya was exquisitely
painted by VittaVera, and wears lavender 12mm EnchantedDoll urethane eyes.
Her corset is by Raouken. Heirloom petticoat created by myself.

    7. @Robyn_in_WA Wow! Your Maya is so gorgeous! :)

I love Raouken’s corsets and have a couple for my Chloe, but I’m not sure how to post pictures here to share her.

    8. @Inspired, you can upload the images to a photo hosting site like photobucket or flickr and get the links (best in BB code) and paste them in your posts. Just remember, no more than two photos in a post in discussion threads. Or if you have Instagram you can just link to your insta posts.

@Robyn_in_WA, your Maya is lovely, I really like her face up.

    9. It's actually only one per post:
@Inspired since you're still new, a great place to practice getting the image links and adding them to posts would be Newbieland, you can start a thread there to test it out, and if you goof, there'll be plenty of people available to help you figure it out. It's a little confusing at first, but once you know how to do it, it's super easy to share photos!

    10. @TeaPartyRevolution Thanks so much for al your advice. I haven't seen one that changed to green either just some of the older dolls yellowed a bit. Your Cloe has a really nice color not paper white like I use to think it would be. Reading all of the information I'm wishing I could order Luha in both colors. If only FL would show her in NS too.

@Robyn_in_WA Your Maya and pettycoat are just gorgeous. I wish FL would do strong eyelashes like that it looks stunning on her.

    11. Oh right, my bad. I don't know why I remember it being two. Thank you for correcting me.

    12. @Koma and @vicemage

Thank you both for the help. Yes! I’ll find something to use and practice :)

    13. No worries! It's easy to misremember things. :)

I'll be looking forward to you adding your photos once you get it sorted out. :) And I watch Newbieland a lot so I may see your photos over there, too!

    14. @Lillyroos I have two WS minifee girls. One is from 2017 and the other was made way back in 2008 I believe (I bought her second hand in 2011). My 2008 girl has definitely warmed up but is very far from being green.

She's less WS now and more creamy. I actually love her resin color.

      Here she is:

    15. It’s so hard I can’t make up my mind on Luha. I love her, specially the Halloween head but I’m not too in love with the outfit. But her face though, so beautiful. I think I’ll have to preorder her. At least I can spread the payment with DDE. I don’t like paying in full for something I get next year. I’m inpatient sadly

    16. Whenever the Erda dragon was up for preorder, I had to have the vampire head, so I "spent" the extra money to get the gift edition, even though I didn't like the outfit or wig or shoes. The sacrifices we make to get the special doll head. :sweat

    17. Luckily there will always be people who want the full sets right?

    18. @malvinas Oh she is lovely. Thank you so much. Her skin tone looks really nice in the red wig I assumed it would stand out.

@Natalie.Jua I just love her fullset. If I could afford it I would have ordered in ns and white skin and have two:love. I'm so sure it will sell fast maybe you could do a split with some one who could pay part of it now. I do believe FL ships fast if it wasn't for Covid.

    19. Hey, does anyone know where I could buy a Minifee head? My Chloes head is badly damaged. I don’t care about the mold actually, I love almost all heads. What’s the best place to look for that?

    20. There are usually plenty of heads in the Marketplace.

    21. Thanks, don’t have access yet and that can take a while...

    22. @Natalie.Jua You could try social media, I've seen lots of minifee heads on instagram for sale. Just be careful as there is the issue of recasts.

    23. So I have found out that minifees are like potato chips, you can't have just one!

I haven't posted my first yet as she is still in need of a face-up, and here I am plotting a new one to keep her company! And the plot thickened after seeing adorable furniture and props in their size! I think each girl is going to demand a shelf for her bedroom!

      :evilplot::XD:

    24. @Lisel Most BJDs are like potato chips, least that's how it's felt to me in this hobby. :XD: *looks at his own resin army of SDs and MSDs/MNFs*

So on the in scale furniture topic, given the ton of 18" and 1/4 scale stuff out there I am strongly thinking of making some kind of table top MNF scale doll house. (or foux doll house.)

    25. Sorry it took a while to share, it’s been nothing but clouds and rain straight this past week. The sun finally broke through today but even so, it got cloudy as soon as I tried taking some pictures :doh

It’s a little pixilated and the camera focused on Hazel (Chloe), so her skin tone looks brighter, but she and Wren (Liria) are actually pretty close in coloring despite being made 3 years apart.

Secondhand el ns - right now he looks way too much like my LTF el, but that's what happens when the eyes match and the only wig that fits is the-same-but-one-size-bigger.

    27. Out of curiosity, and because I can't do my research while at work- can anyone tell me if Fairyland has ever released cat fantasy parts? I remember seeing faun and dragon ones for minifee on the site.

    28. Just asking out of curiosity, but people who like minifees don’t like fantasy clothes that much or am I overthink?
I usually see minifees wearing a more casual clothes style rather than the fairyland more “enchanted” fullsets.
I think it’s funny how the company is called “fairyland” but they don’t really look like fairy dolls. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing tem in casual fashion as well.

    29. I love fantasy clothing. It just seems harder to find for me. I just recently ordered an armor piece for one of my girls. I also bought two very nice empire style dresses for my girls from an Etsy shop I love. I even sculpted elf ears on my Chloe sculpt. But when I wanted to bulk out my MSD clothing selection it was easier to do with modern clothing. I sadly can’t sew with my machine, just don’t get it , it won’t work although it’s very new . so I have to buy clothing and fantasy clothes seem rare.

    30. Maybe you are right and fantasy clothes are just rarer. I only own fantasy stuff but my dolls don’t have many clothes because of that...
Do you mind if I ask what’s the name of the etsy shop you like?

    31. Sure. It’s called Kalian.she has wonderful romantic dresses. The craftsmanship is fantastic and she’s super nice. Another one I like is bunny heart for armor pieces.
And DDE has nice medieval dresses for Slim msd at the moment. Someone in this thread had pictures of Minifee in those dresses and I bought one too.
And of course it’s possible to use a corset, a hood, Cale or armor belt etc. with plain black clothing to make a fantasy look, like a wood elf for example.
Where do you get fantasy clothing?

    32. Thank you!!! I’ll check that out!
My Fairyland dolls were bought in fullsets so I have those clothes. I also bought some second hand fairyland fullsets as well.
I usually buy clothes from artists that sell them in some doll events and also straight from the dolk shop we have here (like some Angell Studio clothes and Gem of doll for example).
I can’t sew anything but a friend I got into the hobby recently can, so maybe from now on we will work something out perhaps.

    33. I have a mix of fantasy and modern stuff on my boy Varius (MNF Jiyu), and Ciel Phantomhive (my Moe MNF Kyle) wears fancy Victorian and Victorian fantasy stuff only. Just rest of my MNFs are more modern for style it's something I never really put thought into as my doll tend to be case by case for character/style. I have plans to make the even Luha head I am getting into Bowsette, and dress her in black punk-rock princess stuff.

However I see your point here, online I do see a lot more MNF and/or fairlyline dolls in modern outfits then I do in fantasy ones.

    34. Oh that’s great. I’m a doll maker myself ( I learned ceramics and sculpting in art school because back then I couldn’t afford a BJD ) so I enjoy doing most of the styling, face up etc. myself. But I’m really debating getting Luha atm. So maybe I’ll get a full set soon. I wish I could have gotten Sias set. I’d have loved a mermaid. Hopefully my marketplace application won’t take too long so I can replace the head from one of my girls. Then I’ll make a sourcerer from the Divinity games out of her. Do you enjoy your full set dolls more than others?

    35. LOL you’re right, mine all wear casual clothing. I can’t say I’m drawn to fantasy or historical clothing. Maybe pretty gowns but those are still contemporary...

    36. Only fantasy parts have been faun, dragon, bunny, centaur, and mermaid for legs for Minifee size. Though Tika did come with Wolf hands and feet and ears.

    37. Hello! Been awhile since I've posted, but I thought I'd ask here and see if anyone could help out. I'm getting a custom doll display box made for my incoming Luha, and the seller has requested a picture of the doll next to a ruler even though I told her the exact measurements off the Fairyland website. Obviously I don't have Luha yet, and my only mnf at home right now is on a Fairyline body which I think is a different height than the new mnf girl active body? Could anyone either confirm or deny this and if I'm right could anyone snap a picture of their mnf girl with the new active body next to a yard stick or ruler? Thanks in advance!!

    38. @Lillyevergold - back when the hobby really first took off, all you could find were jrock and fantasy clothes, and now it's shifted more to modern clothing. I actually really like fantasy looks, but both of my Minifee girls' styles are contemporary. The irony is both of them are fantasy creatures. Goot is a faun.

    39. I don't think so, I think one of the older releases had a cat ear headband?

    40. Height difference between both dolls should super minimal.where do you get your box? I want to build an apartment for my dolls but I’m so u sure what to get.

    41. They've only done "Cat" related things for LittleFee, Pukifee, PukiPuki and some Lion/Cat faceplates for Chicline.

    42. Oh Ciel!! Yep, victorian style will fit him the best In sure.
That will look really cool! I ove punk-rock and her face will fit the style I’m sure!
Yeah, exactly. I enjoy seeing those as well even if I don’t own any.

Oh I see! If tou can make things than I don’t think it’s difficult to crate many things!
Do you have any projects going on? If you have pictures I would love to see thouse!
Even if I don’t have any projects myself I really enjoy looking at what others make.
edited: Yeah, I think I enjoy the fullsets better. I have a very hard time bonding with stuff with I made, so I prefer to get something done by someone else.

Oh that’s true! There was a lot more visual k and stuff. I remember most of Volks dolls had clothes like that.
I love your doll! I also like when dolls have modern clothes but still have horns or fantasy parts.

    43. I am working on my first BJD that I’ll release. I found an investor a few weeks ago. I’d post a pic but I think that’d be off topic here. I worked freelance before. Often for games workshop, they make miniature war gaming figures.
I think I’ll get the Luha full set. I never bought one but I live her Halloween face. So unsure but I don’t want to regret.

    44. Tou must have so many interesting projects!!! I wante to see them all but here I meant dolls. Some people who can make clothes and all sometimes post them in the projects forum. I really enjoy those! Clothes arr mostly minifees or minifees hybrids.
Yeah, Luha looks really cool! I was also thinking about getting one.

    45. Well darn. I guess I will have to sit back and hope for a kitty-pawed minifee someday <3 That’s okay, I should probably slow up a bit right now, haha.

Violet (tan Celine) has a friend coming soon- Regina (NS Chloe). I caved this morning and ordered her with my hubby paying half as my gift for the holidays. Can’t wait to see them together.

I finally got my Tan Rin done. I bought her from DDE in stock. I’m so glad I got her

    47. She's super cute @Natalie.Jua <3

Has anyone else ordered from Fairyland recently? I was just wondering how Covid has affected their production time. I ordered Violet last year and it only took somewhere around 45ish working days for her to be ready. I was surprised at the quick turnaround time!

    48. @LiselT Where as there were not cat bases MNF or fairyline dolls I can think of, I do recall a very short run of Catfee or something like that which were anthro cat dolls around the size of a LTF if I recall right. I sadly missed out on them, but the photos from fairyland made them seem very cute.

Edit: I looked up name it was Meowfee

    49. My Ria and my littlefee were ordered September and are already on the way to me. Hopefully customs won’t take too long

Hey, does anyone know if I could put a Minifee on a chic line body? I’m trying to make myself a Minime but the Minifee bodies waist isn’t small enough, although I love it for other characters.

    50. Oh man, they did actually release those?? I totally missed it, I only remember seeing a little news on them. They looked adorable, but not quite what I am looking for in terms of the character I’d like to shell. <3 Abiah would be perfect with a sunny little Minifee face. I suppose I could settle for magnetic ears and a tail, but I’d be thrilled to have her paws someday haha.

Oh wow, that’s even quicker than Violet was. Maybe there will be hope for her to arrive by the holidays...:chibi

    51. I ordered my Sylvia's on July 4th and am still waiting for an update. I know there was a delay due to an error, but they were supposed to start shipping last week. Earlier in the year, I order my Carol on Jan 28 and she didn't arrive until June 03.

    52. I've seen it done before! If I recall correctly, you'll have to use a minifee's neck piece to make it work, but it is technically possible. That said, the chic-line body is QUITE a bit smaller than the minifee's in like... all dimensions. Shorter, thinner, etc, so any head you put on it can come out looking a little... bobble-headed. The actual chic-line heads are pretty tiny.

    53. Oh dear, that was a long wait! I'm sorry.

May I ask if your dolls were full sets or had face-ups? I just ordered a blank NS minifee Chloe with additional hands and feet. Hopefully that won't be too big a wait if I'm lucky.

    54. @blackcat87 Sorry I missed this post. OMG They are absolutely stunning Thank you. This going to be the hardest choice I ever made. I regret letting go of my Liria so much. They are gorgeous.

@LiselT I ordered my Carol fullset in January she has been shipped last week still on her way to me. The long wait was mostly due to shipping restriction so not their fault. But I do wish they would sent the wig in the stock pictures instead of an other wig. Due to Covid they can't produce the original wig I guess.

    55. Yes you’re probably right. I love Minifees, my collection is almost entirely them but they have quite a small waist hip gap and for this project I need a smaller waist... is there a body like that fitting for Minifee heads...maybe the little harmony hot body. Or could I sand the waist down myself...? I’ll see

    56. They do list that "Same wig shown on photograph will be sent out unless there are unforeseen circumstances. Wig may need to be styled by the owner."
But I do wish they had mentioned the wig would be different, like the announcement about the Sylvia outfit. I ordered the Carol fullset because I loved all parts, including the wig. The wig we all received looks like a cheap knock-off compared to the original wig. I, personally, would have been happier if it had more blue in it.

    57. @thakyuki I think you have to pull the blue forward. I wish I had the wig styling skills their stylists have. Their wigs always look so wispy and ethereal.

@LiselT I mainly order full sets, but no one else’s blank Sylvias (except 1) have been shipped out yet. I emailed them a few days ago and am waiting for a reply.

    58. The wig they sent is too short and has too little blue for me to even try to style it like the stock photos. With some of the full sets, I wish they came with instructions on how they did it for the stock photos!
