Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 63

Jun 9, 2018

    1. Would Volks MSD/MDD dresses fit the minifee newer A line body?

    2. @brighteyes22 and @Bristol Sorry to interfere between your conversation but I think you two are talking about two different magnets. What I understand brighteyes22 is asking about head magnets meant for fantasy parts (horns, antlers etc) and Bristol is talking about head cap magnets which are two different thing and placed differently on the head. All the MNF heads have magnets in the head caps but only the newest one's have those extra magnets for the fantasy parts. I would trust Fairyland on their answer on this one as they know the best of which heads they have renewed.

      • x 3
    3. What @AnnieStar said is correct, ya'll are talking two different kinds of magnets. VE WooSoo is actually a very old mold of Fairyland's from back when they were still a part of Luts. I have one and while she does have the magnets to hold on her head cap, she does not have the fantasy magnets meant to hold on horns and the like.

My experience with Volks related items is that they run too large for minifee. You can get away with some of the shirts if you don't mind them being a looser cut, but the MSD and MDD dolls have more child like proportions and are thus wider than minifee.

    4. Thank you, @AnnieStar and @Hakari-chan. I was really confused. :XD:

I thought she meant to keep the head cap on, not fantasy parts.

    5. OMG that was a confusion!! yes!!, you are totally right @AnnieStar and @Hakari-chan!! I meant the extra magnets to hold the fantasy parts!! >___<
      I am sorry @Bristol :(

But now I am even more confused since I had no idea that MNFs have magnets to keep the head cap on?? O___o I have MNFs since a couple of years now and never noticed they have magnets...

And of course I trust Fairyland too, since they new exactly which magnets I meant, so not all heads are renewed.
Again sorry for this confusion :(

    6. Hakari-chan ok and thanks. I wonder if they would fit better on the M-line body since the body is chubby? Just trying to make my mind up on a Active line or newer M line body.

    7. I don't think they do have magnets to keep the headcap on. Minifee headcaps kinda just... snap on. If they had magnets there wouldn't be the issues there are with certain sculpts having headcaps that want to fall off all the time. Honestly I would prefer if they did have magnets.

    8. They snap on. I was getting that part confused with my LoongSoul. I had them both out to take pics for someone in the reference thread a few days ago. :XD:

    9. Ohh I see!!, now is everything clear!! <3 thank you so much! *3*

    10. Definitely not, no. The difference in body shape is definitely minimal, and I wouldn't really call it 'chubby'. The biggest difference comes in the legs, they're shorter and a bit thicker than the Model or Cutie legs.

...and lol I don't know what I was thinking with those head magnets either, I literally own eleven minifees how did I get that confused wth XD I AM right about woosoo not have fantasy magnets though, I can promise you that X'D

Speaking of clothes, though, my girls Kafka, Seraphine, and Fiona got their new outfits in today! I'll have time to take pics in daylight some day...

    11. Thank you so much! I'm so happy people like her! :frownyblush: She just got her own body, so I'm excited to spend a little more time styling her!

I'm still not sure if I should keep her with her blonde wig, or with this red one... She looks good in both! :sigh

    12. I loved the Hwayu fullset. Then again it was the first fullset I've wanted, apart from the Victoria Frances girls. I won't lie, I hated having to lace the corset and I didn't understand the necklace sleeves for a few days. Lol.

My Ryeon from 2012 doesn't have magnets. I don't have a newer one so I can't say if they've updated or not.

I love her so much <3

    13. So does Fairyland not offer the moe-line feet separately ? only the high heeled version?

    14. meg wanted to pop in and show off her new cowl. i'm not sure she was super impressed with me for not clearing the snow of the stump before having her sit down though!

    15. What a cutie! I love the scarf, it's super stylish

    16. @Hakari-chan, your girls look amazing in their new outfits

@xxSugarxPopzxx, yes, Fairyland confirmed that Ryeon, Ante and Woosoo don't have magnets. My Ryeon is from 2016 and has no magnets either.

@auntbear your Meg is so adorable! *___*, I think the snow looks beautiful! <3

I miss my girls so much....

    22. Hello everyone! I recently retruned to DoA and the world of BJD after a long hiatus. I haven't kept up with doll releases for a while (since MiniFee Rin's release I think) and I'm hoping to get back to this super sweet hobby soon! I have a few MiniFee dolls back home but for now I can only share older pictures :sigh this is my Lishe, Ash Rose :chibi

    23. so, i sadly have to confirm that fairyland does not offer free shipping over a certain quantity amount anymore :(...., I just wanted to place my order and I had to choose the EMS zone for the shipping to be calculated...

Then I checked the news and notices:
      - Increase in Shipping Price
We regret to inform you that due to increase in oversea postal charge, our policy on cost of shipping price or eligibility for free shipping price will be affected as a result. Increase in shipping price came into effect in 2011 and since October 2014, we have categorised and divided EMS Shipping Zones depending on distance and weight of the package. Despite our effort, dramatic increase in differences paid by FairyLand's end during recent years has resulted cuts on elsewhere which reached alarming state at this point. While we will be looking into many measures to lessen the burden on customer's end, we would like to notify that there will be inevitable change of shipping policy, which will come into effect as of October 2018. More detail will be available around that time.

      .....

Edit: Well now I can confirm that Fairyland offers free shipping over $900, I could see it now while placing my order :)

    24. @brighteyes22 your girls are beautiful!

@Diana92 welcome back! I came back from a several year hiatus around 2 years ago and it was both exciting and overwhelming! I hope your return to the hobby treats you well! Your Lishe girl is an angel!

@Hakari-chan I love your Shushu! Her freckles make me happy!

I finally took some new pictures of my Lilly Belle the other day. I love my sweet girl.

    25. thank you so much! well it certainly is overwhelming! and it doesn't help that currently I'm not in a position where it's worth shipping a mini sized doll or larger to me :...(

you do a good job styling your girls and photographing them!! is she a juri?

    26. @Diana92 yes she is! She's my Juri '10. Thank you for the nice comment about how I style my girls! I really appreciate that!

    27. I don't know if this question has been asked before, but does anyone know if the Honoka sculpt is limited? And if she is, when do sales end for her?

    28. I can't say for sure, but I thought I heard she was limited. I know she hasn't been added to the a la carte list.

    29. Denver Doll Emporium said at the time of release: "Full pack Honoka is limited - sculpt is not limited but will not be available from FairyLand ENG at all. It may become available from DDE and FairyLand JP at some point. (this is from Fairyland)"
Could be worth sending them an email to find out if they have any updates on quantity limits or end date.

    30. Alright! Thank you both!

    31. I may retake this eventually, but I had to take this picture of all of my minifee heads (there are two Feeple heads in there too though...)
I love them all so much! It's so hard when you end up having event heads to find bodies for, but it's so great when you finally have bodies for most of them. I remember when I first joined the hobby I was like "People keep just heads?! No way!! I'll never do that!" but then I ended up having minifies and that all changed :XD:

Thankfully I'm to the point I finally have bodies for all but one (er...two if you count another head I'm expecting in a month or so...). Now the next hardest part. ...CLOTHES :doh

Is it really hard for anyone else to buy clothes? That is one of the hardest things for me in this hobby, just because of how expensive they are. I think they are worth every penny, of course, but I've gotten so cheap with even my own clothes :sigh

      • x 6
    32. @Animethemed I struggle with clothes too! My issue is less that I worry about how much they cost and more that each of my dolls have a style I associate with them and I have a hard time finding things that they would wear. I see a lot of things that I go "oh that's cute!" but then I go crazy trying to think of if I have any dolls at all that would wear it. And I'm cheap with my own clothes for sure. I for whatever reason find it easier to spend the money on a pair of jeans for a doll than I do for myself.

Also who is the first girl in your picture? With the blue brows? She looks so cute!

    33. @Animethemed I have the same problem as @malvinas. I keep looking at the girls I have (or are on the way) and hitting a blank as to how I'd like to style them. Maybe it'd be easier if I could sew or something that got the creative juices flowing.

    34. Same here, finding clothes can be really long and difficult and I love as much as I hate this step because sometimes it is too specific in my mind and I can't find exactly what I want >< Fortunately there is a ton of possibilities and choices with minifees

A little picture of Kimi, my Chloe, she has a faceup by Nomyens and tattoos that I drew on her body, I love her

    35. Would 16" or 22" tonner clothes fit the minifee M-line body? I am looking for dresses for my Rin.

    36. Most 16" clothes are going to be too small and the 22" will be too big. Some clothes for DeeAnna Denton on her original body MIGHT work. That's the Athletic body and NOT the Curvaceous. Emme clothes might also work; I haven't gotten to try them yet.

Some Ellowyne clothes will work, too. They fit the male m-line better than the female.

Tonner Matt pants will probably fit, but they'll be a little long. Shirts will not fit at all; they're too big.

None of the shoes besides the 22" shoes will fit at all. The shoes for the 16" dolls are tiny.

This page is really helpful for determining whether a Tonner doll's measurements are close enough to your doll's: Doll Body Sizes

In general, I have found that Tonner pants will NOT fit minifee unless they're for Ellowyne or Matt.

EDIT: To boil it all down, you'll want to look at Ellowyne-sized dresses. Everything else is likely to have too small of a waist.

    37. Cake Time thanks

    39. Hi hi! :) I haven't shared a pic in quite a while, been out of the hobby for a bit. I'm really excited to be working on my girls again and this one came back a while ago from having her face up done. She is far from finished, but I'm really loving her. :dance

    40. After finally getting the Minifee Mirwen I've been dreaming about, I've been having such a great time customizing her and figuring out her style! It's motivated me to start sewing again too, and I've loved making clothes for her. She's my first girl that I've bought completely blank and built from the ground up, and I'm having such a fun time!

    41. @Sheenny your girl is gorgeous! I love her faceup with her wig! Is she a nanuri 17? Really makes me think I need to add another to my collection so I can have both a boy and a girl.

@momo6548 congrats on your Mirwen! She's really cute!

    42. Thank you! Yes she is indeed a Nanuri17 :) Love her versatile and strong that sculpt is! She makes a great girl AND boy.
The wig unfortunatly is such a pain haha. Too big and hard to style. I might make a new one, but in that colour because the colour is super pretty! :)

    43. Sharing sleeping Chloe today :)

      :cheer

    45. Hi!!! So, I'm getting ready to order my boys and it occurred to me that the sculpt I want might be too small... does anyone have a picture of a chloe and Mir/mika together? I'm afraid of my boy being severly overtaken by my girl. I'm hoping it's not too bad though. Thanks in advance!!

    46. meg went on a road trip, being a bit of a nerd she insisted on having her picture taken in vulcan...

    48. Hai everybody! :D After 10 years in the hobby, I will be dipping my toe into the MNF pool for the first time ever! :shudder

Might anyone have recommendations for the best eye sizes for Sircca and/or Rendia? (It feels so strange to be asking the beginner type questions!)
I know that FL says 14mm on their site, but I generally tend to prefer a slightly smaller iris size. Do 12mm eyes fit ok, or are they a bit gappy?
Bt then I think Sircca/Rendia have slightly smaller eyes than some other sculpts, so perhaps that would work out better anyway?

      • x 1
    49. 12mm works fine for Rendia! You might want to go for Mako eyes or another artist who makes relatively small irises, though, if you don't want them to look like an animal or a baby.

    50. I agree on 12mm :) I also prefer smaller eyes, and they work really nicely! Sircca and Rendia both have small/normal sized eyes, so they can wear 12mm just fine.

    51. Thanks guys! :D Since I like smaller eyes, I've made the mistake a number of times, where I got 12mm eyes when I should have gotten 14mm with smaller irises. :sweat As long as 12mms fill out the sockets, that should work out well.
Or I do suppose I could just go with small iris 14mm right off the bat... /ponder/ I plan to get something from Soul in a Box on Etsy, and she offers that option. :)

    52. @AirimirOfGondor I tried 14mm eyes in my Rendia initially and they seemed way too big to me. The original eyes I got her were 14mm standard size iris from soulinabox. I ended up switching her to some 12mm mako eyes and they seem perfect. No gapping or anything. I also just got a Sircca and for her I almost feel the 12mm are too big but I don't have any 10mm I can try for her yet to see if it works better. The 14mm Fairyland had in her the iris literally filled the entire eye. It was a bit terrifying honestly.

    53. Can someone please tell me what size wig Celine wears? I'm looking at a Leekeworld wig and want to make sure it fits when she gets home.

      Thanks for your help!

    54. @malvinas Oh wow, they might be significantly smaller than I'm thinking then! :o If you have a chance, might you be willing to take some photos?

    55. @AirimirOfGondor Yes definitely! I will try to get some pictures tonight after I get out of work for you.

For now here is a picture of my Rendia with the 14mm Soulinaboxdoll eyes. I had to put them in at a side glance or the 14mm just weren't going to work even temporarily.

    57. @malvinas ahhh thank you so much! :D They are actually surprisingly big! :O
They only MNF heads I've handled in person so far have been a Miyu and one of the Halloween event heads, but I guess they must have significantly bigger eyes, since they both looked fine in 14mm.

And your girl is lovely! :love I have both Sirrca and Rendia on order, with plans to make the Rendia a boy, but now I'm starting to second guess that plan! :XD:

    58. Hey guys! Has anyone tried to hybrid their minifee? I just bought a body from Doll Family-H, so I'm very curious if any of you know how it would look with a minifee head (Alicia or Ria) proportion-wise.

    59. She is lovely! I like the eye color a lot!
