Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 52

Jan 31, 2015

1. She is tan and honestly I won't mind. The seams are really harsh and I'm worried about hurting myself on them again.

2. Yaaaaaaaaay! My tan Risse shipped! O uO!!!!!!!

3. Congrats! haven't see a lot of tan Risse so far. What do you plan to do with her (style) ?

does anyone know of places that sell JEANS that fit moe girls? I can deal if the legs are too long, but I need a decent fit at the waist and so far everything I've tried is too big even though it's labeled as slim mini >_<

4. Ebay have some, nine9style too

5. Thanks Sue. I'm so in love with her. :)

Thank you very much

Thank you. She's on a Moe body too. Your Ante is so sweet.

Thank you. I think Chloe is so beautiful it would be inpossible not to love her.

Now that wig looks really really beautiful on her.

Congrats. I hope she arrives really fast.

6. Here's some D'Artagnan spam :) (he's a TS Mirwen on the muscular A-line body)

[IMG]He's finished! by anthrogirl14, on Flickr

7. You could ask SMPDoll? I know she's made them before, but I think she's only doing pre-orders right now. Maybe Wimukt or Atelier Momoni? AM Definitely has an M-Line girl. :)

8. Yeah I remembered AM after posting and I've asked then and they said they can! I've had a pair of unoa chibi jeans from them before and it was good quality too :thumbup
I'll look for the others too. Thanks!

9. There's also 3lysa on etsy!

10. About Seams on Tan:
I am going to do a bit of experimenting with a technique for sanding FL tan skin very soon, and I promise to post results. There are certain products you can use besides just sandpaper to even out a resin's finish after sanding so that marking is minimal. I'll try one of them, and post that, and then do coverup blushing on top and post that too.

11. I have been lurking for a few days and this thread moves so fast.
rytearik Thank you for the pic of your Tika girl many, many pages ago, she is really nice.
Xura I am so sorry about your beautiful girl, I hope you can do something with her. Luckily the only thing my cats try to do is steal the fur wig my one boy wears.
There are so many beautiful photos being shared, I spend to much time looking at dolls.

I am waiting for my Seorin to have his face done and the preview photos are amazing, I can't wait until he comes home. I will leave with some spam of Chantilly, I have to confess I brought this wig last year and I forgot I had it, only found it yesterday when I was trying to bring some order to the chaos that is my dolls stuff.

12. Oh that's fine! I'm actually considering doing the same with mine in certain areas tbh. I just know some people might not like it and wasn't sure if you knew! :)

I'd like to see this! Minimal light patches would be ideal.

I finally bought Ninevah her own body! She is getting a moe line body that should be here this weekend! Yay!! My Chloe should be coming home from her face-up before too long, so finally my MNF family will be complete! ...For now.

14. Another etsy seller who has a good fit for minifee is dollhouseshop. I bought a pair from them last year. They fit great, but sadly they were not the color in the picture, so I ended up not liking them enough to use. They do, however, fit a lot better than my Nine9 Style jeans. This is on the A-line body, though. I'm not sure if their's much difference between their hip measurements. I didn't notice much of one with my girls.

15. Nyne in a new outfit she got in a swap - I think she looks adorable!

16. Thank you! I think I've only seen like 3 or 4. Haha.
She's gonna be a fantasy character. So I bought her a teal and pink wig. If I don't like it, go white for her.
Her face-up is gonna be teal/yellow and white. And I'm gonna give her gold/yellow eyes and she gonna have wings on her head.
Clothing wise I was thinking maybe mori-ish style. More with the neutral colors, but not sure yet. XD

17. Thank you! She should be here Mon. XD

18. Looking forward to seeing that!

19. Lewellyne your Siean was the one that made me super want one.

20. got my new girl Quinn out in the park today in the new dress I made her! still need to make her some suede accessories but I thought she looked ready for some sun. :)

21. Just a quick pix of my first tan girl. She is unnamed at the moment but she will whisper it to me soon.

22. Beautiful girls CuriousRaven and bayni !

I just received my Minifee Chloe from DDE and I'm so happy with her! She looks great, her only issue is that her neck joint is kind of hard to move and is very jerky. It doesn't pose smoothly at all, unlike my Feeple60 Moe Rin's, which is the only other Fairyland doll I have to compare to. I'm pretty sure I remember reading about this issue before somewhere, but I don't remember how to fix it. Has anybody dealt with this or does anybody have any suggestions? I was thinking restringing her might fix the problem, but if there is a simpler way I would love to know it.

23. dotworkdoll: I think this is just tight stringing, I had the same issue with my new m-line boy and girl. I tied them up for a few days (legs bent and pulled up to their chests, then used string to keep them like that) and it seemed to help loosen the stringing a little.

24. Thank you, what a great idea. :)

25. bayni, what a lovely girl - that hair looks perfect for her!

26. Just ordered some new elastic as well as some new clothes for Ellie. It's gonna be fun learning how to safely pull her apart and restring her ;u;

In all seriousness though, any hints on sanding when it comes to seams?

27. Arietem, you can find how to restring your MNF on my blog (in my signature)

28. [IMG]Sleeping Natalie by Amber Wilburn / Rytearik, on Flickr

Tika here is wearing a 5/6 wig.. @_@; and it does stay on without that headband too.
I did have to super stretch/pull it on, but now that it's on it's good.
Never suited any of my tinies.. so why not? :P

29. So I've realized I really need a MNF. I really want a doll that looks like the Camilla D'Errico characters- and after staring at all of the face molds endlessly, I think Mio is the closest, especially with the right face-up. What do you guys think?

Here's the face of the "doll" I want...

[IMG][IMG]

I actually have a doll in my basket at Faiyland, but the wait is sooooooo long for her... so I am going to hold off for just a bit to see if one pops up in the Marketplace.

30. I think if you can find it, the MNF Sarang 2014 has those full lips and basic face shape. Here's mine with a face-up.

31. Wow you are right- she looks very much like Sarang- I do think her lips might be a better match- except that she is smiling, and I don't think any of Camilla's characters smile - (which is why I was leaning slightly towards Mio) - but the more I look at them, I think you are right that she looks a bit closer than Mio- I'll keep an eye out for her too!

32. Ah, boo. :( I finally got my two Mios after waiting for over 5 months, and I'm pretty disappointed with the tan girl. The body, headcap, etc. are fine, thankfully, but her face has so much blue blushing under her lower lip on on her chin she looks like she has a five o'clock shadow! The NS Mio I got doesn't have this strangely colored blushing, but the tan sleeping head does too. None of the Mios I have seen posted photos of have this either. Do you guys think it would be reasonable to ask DDE to send her back for a makeup fix, or would Fairyland just say it's a stylistic choice? I'm so bummed, it was such a long wait too!

33. As long as your doll is not tan, you can follow tutorials here, after you study up on this.

Tan dolls usually cannot have their seams sanded, unless their resin formula allows you to do this without major discoloring. Fairyland's does not. I am working on possible methods for experienced modders to do this with minimalized discoloring. I'll post my results once I have them. I've had to put off the project because of poor health.

34. You could also look for a girl Luka, girl Rix, or Chloe. (blank faces) Face-ups can also change whether a doll looks smiley or not. My girl Riant is supposed to be very smiley and is painted to be so.

35. I'm going to throw another girl into the mix. I think Ryeon would be perfect. Her jaw/chin shape is a perfect match and I think Ryeon has perfect pouty lips. I'm a bit biased though as I have two Ryeons!

36. I was totally thinking Ryeon as soon as I saw the images too!

37. Me too! First thing I thought when I saw the post (would love to see this made into a doll - I'm a huge Camilla D'Errico fan as well).

38. I think Mio is the perfect choice. She definitely looks like Mio to me.

39. It has been a while, so I'm dropping in with a photo of Amina and her baby sister Naiya. :)
I love seeing the two of them together.

Galacticat I instantly thought of the Fairyland New Family Event head, because of her pouty mouth and cheeks. But she's not an easy sculpt to get a hold of. Good luck, though because I can't wait to see your resin version of this girl :D

41. I had a little time to take some photos of my Mio, Tara.

42. Just thought I would let you know, I had very badly painted and broken full set pieces back in November. and It took until December to get word from DDE that I could send them back to get fixed. I did. We still haven't heard from Fairyland if they even received the items. My stuff is out there in space. And it will be a huge financial loss if I can't get compensated for it. If I could go back, I would never have sent my stuff back and just lived with the problems or sent the items to a different artist to be repainted.

43. Oh no, that sucks! I'm so sorry. D: I hope they manage to locate your stuff. I already sent an email to DDE and they are checking with FL to see if anything can be done about my Mio, but after your experience I may just hold onto her and have a faceup artist redo. :(

44. Another totally awesome pic of your girl!!

45. Yay! I got ship notification for my tan mirka girl, on a cutie-bust Active Line body, today.
My Tika will finally have someone his own size to hang out with.
She's also coming with tan hand options for both of them, because I was able to afford it (thank you DDE Layaway), and sometimes it is nice to have options beyond the default hands.

Getting ship notification brought me a paranoid thought that perhaps I had forgotten to specify my event item, since ordering through DDE you simply write in your selection on your order comments, not through adding items to a cart, and comments do not appear on the invoice.

I will find out later this week.
Until then I get to look at all of your beautiful new (and not new) doll spam.

thakyuki, Your Mio, Tara, is lovely, and looks to be feeling a bit devilish, rocking the devil wings and the art of heart heals.
(I'm hoping some devil wings are incoming, for me as well)

bayni, your tan girl is lovely. The wig is great (seconding, or thirding that comment).
I will soon also have my first tan girl (2nd tan doll), this one is coming blank, so I will be experimenting with my first tan faceup...

CuriousRaven, I am envying Quinn her trip to the park. So spring!

rytearik, your Sleeping Natalie Tika looks just like someone I know... it is uncanny. Thank you for letting us know about the wig size (5/6!!!), I thing I now have a few more options for my own Tika.

anjelchan, your Sarang 2014 is lovely. The eyes! The freckles! The hair! Plus you put her in a cute sun top/dress. Sigh. I want her stylist.

sher , Magdalena certainly looks the enchantress.

46. I gave my Dreaming Elf Rin head a face-up today and since I haven't seen another one here in my lurking yet I thought I'd plop a picture here. She's currently borrowing a boy moe line body, but eventually she'll get her own a-line girl body.

47. finally uploaded pics of my tan Mir (who is still nameless) I dressed him up in pink cuz why not!

48. Hello!
My girls have a make-up (by Etoilebleue, french artist) and they are absolutly lovely!
Hope you love them too!

Oops sorry for post two more photo!

49. They are stunning - I love your freckled Mio! Unfortunately you'll need to take two of the photos down as its only one per post. I love your Rheia's dress! Hyperion how lovely to see a dreaming Rin. Such sweet ears too. thakyuki I love her wings. I'm so tempted to get a pair but as I'd have to create a character around them in order to do so! sher I love how bushy your girl is.

Congrats on the arrival of your tan Mir.

50. your girls are gorgeous and those freckles are so realistic (but like smudge said only one pic per post however you can add links to the extra pictures so we can still go see them ;))

51. Gosh such gorgeous girls- and yes I can see how Ryeon could work for a Camilla D'Errico doll too-

I actually just saw Camilla herself yesterday (at the Seattle Comic Con) and got to talking with her (she is so approachable and chatty!) and I suggested that she consider a BJD doll line. Well I couldn't believe it but she said that she HAD designed some dolls and costumes- but the person she was working with to make the dolls- flaked out, so the dolls were never made. :/ Now she is just going to focus on her art... So I guess I must continue with my own project for a fairyland version...

52. Here's Verona! She's a tan Mika on an m-line "boy" body. She is good and I love her.

53. CAKE TIME its wonderful seeing another tan mir/ka especially one with a faceup! Did you do it yourself?

sent through the forests

54. Oh, I wish. I bought her second-hand from a Tumblr user. The sales post said that the face-up was by Das Hinterland.

55. Wig question time! :sweat

- Which size wig would you guys recommend for Ante and Rin? Especially for For My Dolls wigs.

- Where do you guys buy all your gorgeous alpaca wigs for your Minifees?

56. I use a Leekeworld 6-6.5 on my MNF Ante. It would be the same for For My Doll wigs as well, although I haven't tried that specific brand on her, I have used them before. The FMD wigs are often hit and miss, some are a little larger and some are a little smaller, even within the same style in the same size.
You could put a 7-8 on her if you wanted to, it would stay on fairly well with a wig cap, but I personally have always found them to be a bit to loose on the Chloe, Mirwen, Celine, and Ante heads. When I photograph my dolls, I like their wigs to stay in one place, even as I change their poses and possibly their clothes, and the 7-8s often slip. But it's your personal choice. I know some people perfer the 7-8, because it gives the dolls a bigger head of hair.

Here's a pic of my Ante in her 6-6.5 wig:

57. Ahhh! Someone who ordered on Feb. 2nd direct from Fairyland got a shipping notice. :D
I ordered on February 19th!!
I hope my girl gets here soon. <3

58. eerka, your Ante is adooorable! <3

For alpaca wigs, I made mine myself, but there are people (on etsy) you can commission, on some sell ready-made ones, too.

Here is my Ante whispering some dolly-secrets into Shushus' ear:
