My best friend is convinced that my Aislinn is, at least partly, evil. Which I don't believe for a second.... but evil has no correlation to being able to do a whole lot of damage if crossed so I can't argue with that one

Just picked up my Mirwen and Risse from DDE. I didn't expect them until next month. Woot! Of course, there's no time to play with them until next month, but I do love looking at them Plus, I got my Soony head. Seriously cute!

 

Awesome spam as always! Love the Doctor and Clara, they look spectacular!

Bummed to hear that a few of the sculpts will be out of stock for the year. Hopefully they'll come back looking spiffy and awesome. I'm fortunate that I own most of the sculpts, so I don't feel that dread.

And holy cow, my order with Lani's mnf body is coming in from DDE! There is going to be a massive amount of new resin in the house as both my orders from August are coming. I'm going to get high off the resiny fumes, lol. It's going to be dolly Christmas! I'll have to make sure to take pictures with the Christmas trees as background, lol.

 

I've been seeing a lot of people's Mir-kas coming around lately, so it might definitely be because Fairyland does casting in batches. I'm excited for you! My Mir girl is incoming as well, so I, too, am really excited-!​

Fingers crossed I'll finally be sharing my Sarang here soon... I got word from DDE today that the neck piece for his hybrid body finally shipped! Any celebratory Sarang spam out there?

 

I'm also extremely surprised with how fast FL is producing these dolls! So far I've seen 2 tan minifees already being shipped. Super impressed and now antsy because I may be getting my girl much earlier than expected

 

I can't help with Sarang but Taya got new eyes and new dress. They're 13mm Eyeco soft-glass. I've tried 12mm glass and they don't really work, but the problem is that the pupils are all so large (in the ones I have) compared to the iris and there isn't much white. Eyeco's 13mm have the same size diameter iris as the 12mm glass, but a smaller pupil and the larger whites so it works without making her look... strange.



The dress is from Iplehouse for their JID. It's too big, but I could lace it super tight in the back for this photo. I shall have to alter it properly though, as Taya insists on keeping it.

Will definitely spam my boy when he comes in! I just moved to a new place so things are a bit chaotic, but I have cameras and his wig, eyes and clothes are waiting - and with this guy I don't have to send him out for a faceup, so he'll be ready to show off right away. Very exciting.

 

So, i have recently become a MNF only collector, (which is painful because they aren't exactly cheap and the wait kills what little patience i have T_T) and i have a problem. Do any of you like so many MNF sculpts that you simply can NOT decide which sculpt you'll purchase for which character ?cause' that's my current dilemma...

Lol ya, all my dolls are based on characters from my books (I am a writer) so it's fun turning them into 3d models ^^ but deciding on a sculpt for characters is the worst of the few BJD problems i have T_T

 

I have ended up being a MNF collector...but I really want variety. If I had the financial ability, I would love a Kid Delf and a Zuzu Delf and like...ugh, idk, so many dolls. I don't know why I don't just get those since they're definitely cheaper than MNFs, but there's just something about FL sculpts...and the bodies are killer, of course.

 

Honestly if I had unlimited funds, I'd go for a few Iplehouse dolls too. But when I have any money, I find myself looking for FL. Mind you I'm still early in my BJD collecting life, so the time may come when I move to them as well.

 

I've also become an fairyland lover. My first doll was a kid delf, and I feel an emotional attachment to her, but I much prefer my minifee girls. I think the body is just so much more elegant and less 'blocky' than other dolls, especially the elbows and knees! I also have a rule with my hubby that if I want a new doll an old one has to leave (as we've imposed a limit of 6) and I really want a Mirwen boy to be twins with my Mirwen girl! So I'm going to soon be fairyland exclusive, because I will be ordering my MiniFee Boy soon since fairyland have just announced that there WILL be a winter event!! Yeah, i am considering buying iplehouse guys to go with my MNF girls, but i still prefer MNF boys to iplehouse. So for those of you with experience purchasing from both FL and DDE, which do you prefer? I have always ordered through DDE, but i am tempted to try ordering from FL, but to be honest, i am slightly nervous about things like my doll getting lost in the mail, or not being able to communicate with FL employees ect. ect. thoughts?

 

Iplehouse JIDs go well with MNF girls because of the height difference - as long as you don't mind the fantasy face sculpt v.s. the more realistic one. I have a JID Owen and a MNF Chloe (yet to be modded) as a couple. If you want proof how well they work, just check out Ban Sidhe's group!

 

We are having a shortage of english speaking employees…and we are backed up on orders by about 4-5 months, but...let's have an event! If I didn't love them so much I would hardcore cringing right now, but I put my boys on layaway so that it wouldn't matter how long they take to make the doll, and I waited back in the DollShe orders a couple years ago which was about 7 or more months, I can handle it lol.

It is good that you have a partner to help control the doll urges Anneva, because most of us flounder away with dolls upon dolls, I remember once upon a time I had a rule of only 12 dolls…that lasted for about a year or two I think? I now have closer to that number again, but when my new order from FL comes in, and when I place an order over the holiday, since I know exactly what I like now, I will probably end at 20 or so I think…ugh

 

Gonna upvote Zuzu Delfs since I love them myself and they go great with Minifees!

As for the recent topic, I'm all Fairyland for humans/elves and Luts for Anthros (though I do have one Doll Factory anthro, my very first BJD).

One should get both if you can. I love zuzu Delfs. They are super cute and look nice along side Minifees.

 

I don't live in the USA so I can't use DoA but FL have always been great and everything is tracked so I can't see why your mail would get lost in the post. The main advantage of DoA is the layaway but otherwise it's quicker to order direct from FL.

Omg the new winter event will finally bring the Victoria Francis doll!!! I do not collect the big ones cause the size freaks me out. But if it's Victoria Francis I might make an exception.

As for the current conversation, I'm all about the fairyland heads and bodies, but I didn't want that to stop me from having a diverse family body type wise. So I hybrid when I can. I keep most of the minifee parts but swap out legs and torsos and such. DC and dollzone have been kind to me so far. I'm hoping leekeworld will be kind too. My doll family is all sorts of heights and weights. It makes me very happy when it works out. I love the minifee arms so much. So beautifully engineered.

For those who have already ordered from DDE and live outside the USA, how do they ship ? EMS or USPS Priority International ?
I wonder if it makes any difference regarding the customs, especially to France ?

 

Okay, I need some advice. When I wiped my Chloe's faceup off I totally loved her, for like, four days. I'm just having some serious trouble bonding with her. What have you guys done to really bond with your minifee? I feel like this is a dumb question, but I'm really curious. What's helped you guys in the past?

 

LeeAnne I don't have my MNF with me (yet) BUT I will say that it took a while for me to REALLY fall in love with my current doll. Don't get me wrong - I was attached to her from the moment she arrived, but I wasn't sure of her personality or how I wanted her to look, so it took a while for her to really come into her own. Sometimes you have to try a lot of different outfits/wigs/eyes until you look at her and think, "Oh yea, this is her for sure!"

Don't give up on her!

 

It was sent to me USPS not EMS. In Australia we only pay customs on anything over $1000 so I haven't yet been hit by it.

 

Getting the right look together helps. Like wiping that faceup off was probably a good idea if you were having trouble. Do you have a clear character or look in mind? If not just browse around and try to get some inspiration. Try thinking about what kind of wig you want her to have and what colors. Get her that new faceup if you can.
