You are lucky that you are able to get your Soony a faceup so quickly, angeldoll. My girl must wait until after Christmas as December is her busiest month working as a messenger for Santa. She comes from a very well known elf family. Please meet Elfonda Schelf, my Soony.



She refused to be seen during the month of December in anything but her family's traditional ethnic costume.


My Soony wears a size 6-7 Monique wig, nekomode13. It fits perfectly without a wig cap. She can also wear it with a wig cap but it is more of a struggle to get on.

It's a lovely faceup, JelizaRose. I really like it, but it's more important that YOU be happy with it. I would imagine she is awaiting your approval on the basic faceup before adding gloss to lips and eye rims? I find that the glossing always brings them to life.

Dylan doesn't do much of anything right now, he just kinda sits around on my bookshelf or my desk, or downstairs on the couch with my dad xD But when I try to get him to stand, he's pretty kicky/buckle-y, and with what you said about your girl I wonder if he's strung too tight.

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by "when you string it and pull it all the way out there is a half cm amount of elastic sticking out when the elastic is taught", too many floating "it"s ><; When I string what and pull what all the way out of where? And where is the half cm of elastic sticking out?

I've never taken any of my dolls apart, but I'm sure Dylan probably does have the neck bead.

let me try to clear the confusion. I know I can be very confusing. I'm trying to be better about that.

When you string the doll and pull the elastic all the way out, it should have about half a cm of taunt elastic sticking out from the wrists or ankles when you pull the elastic tight all the way. This way you can slip on the magnet parts for the hands, or the feet parts. If the elastic is tighter. You'll have trouble pulling it out. If it's too loose, it will show a lot more and be a little too easy to string and your guys will flop around.

I like to measure my elastic by stringing the doll without tying the ends of the string at all. I pull the elastic taunt all the way. and use my other hand to mark half a cm from the very end of the wrist on the exposed elastic. I then unstring the doll cut the elastic a little bit from the mark, and tie a knot so it lands right on the mark I made. Now when I string the doll, I don't have to worry about guessing elastic length.

I've been quiet lately as preparations for Christmas start ramping up. But Leaf was in a bit of a holiday mood so I managed to snap a quick photo of her. I always loved Chloes but I swear I didn't bond with her as quickly as I thought I would. But that is changing rather quickly, she's now one of my favourites....

 

Crazydolleyes, your Chloe is gorgeous. I have one in tan but I'm very tempted to get a NS too - well I would before so if I had the funds and the room!

Mako's run small so i always get a size bigger than i would normally buy, these are 16mm so really more like 14mm, i tried some 12mm Enchanted Eyes and they didn't look right to me, i think she really needs 14mm

I managed to complete my Christmas set and most of the props this weekend! Here is one of the pictures from my first xmas photostory of the year, which I just posted if you're interested in seeing more! I think Charley looks so gorgeous in this shot.

 

I just got mine yesterday and I grabbed a couple random 12s (some glass and some safrindoll acrylics) and they looked good in her. Or him. I think 14s would be too big (but that's my personal pref). But I'm also thinking of doing Makos and if they run small I will probably try getting 14s....

I have almost all my mnfs in 14mm but I am thinking of converting them all to 12mm eyes. I think they just look more realistic. Though I think Sophie here might be in 12mm (please correct me if I'm wrong though). I prefer that look in general I think.

Hi! I don't know if you remember me, I ordered a minifee woosoo vamp girl and received the boy's heads? Well, Fairyland and I came to an agreement, I'm going to send the heads to them and they are already preparing new heads (girls) to me. Just wanted to let you know that lately FAiryland has been quite nice and answered all my questions. I hope everything turns out fine.

My two Normal skin Elfy girls together,for anyone whose interested, i'm buying all my floating heads the insanely cheap Mirodoll bodies (which is what my Soony is on) they just need a little tweaking such as hot glue in the knees and they work out very well

Ordered Lethe a pair of Makos - not sure when they'll come in (anyone know what their time frame is?) but in the meantime, I modded her current eyes in PS so I could see what they'd look like. I also made her a new dress and she totally stole the Goral Horns from Falyn

Well, my Celine is finally here. And she is adorable. Now I have been going back and forth about keeping this girl. Initially I wanted her and then I got my Chloe head and though about just giving Chloe the body and selling the Celine head. But now that she's here....she's just too cute. O_O I think I must keep her. Which means I need to order a body for my Chloe. I might let the Chloe borrow the body sometime but I don't have her wigs yet so no point in doing that now. But here is my MNF Celine, her name is Sif:

Sorry for the bad picture quality, but my room's lighting is very yellowy and dark. Eventually I'll get her a new faceup, but for now she'll keep her default.

Thank you!! I wound up trying a bunch of eyes in her head last night, and 12mm Makos are definitely too small (a lot of gapping.) Still trying to decide between 14mm and 16mm -- unfortunately, I don't have any 14mm Makos on hand, so I'll have to wing it.

Oddly enough, a couple of pairs of 12mm *glass* eyes fit her very well, without a lot of gapping. I don't like it when the entire iris shows, though (less realistic -- I like a decent amount of white, but I also want the eyes to be position-able), so I'd go up a size, in that case . . . but for urethanes, both Mako 12mm and Dollshe 12mm were too small (gaps, tiny irises.)

So, I'm thinking either 14mm or 16mm urethanes, probably Makos. If anyone DOES have 14mm Makos and could take a picture, I'd be eternally grateful -- Angeldoll has shown that 16mm Makos can look great for a doe-eyed look, and I'm curious if 14mm would look good, too, or if there would be gaps.

(I go down a size for my Delf Soony's eyes in order to make her look sharper and more alert -- 20mm eyes can be pretty, but are dreamy and unfocused. 18mm eyes are just right, for her.)

Now to pick the color, LOL!!

Oh dear, prices are going to soar...nice to see them finally give some of the older sculpts a face lift...so to speak.

 

That is a long time for approving new face-ups>.>;;;

I see this as either a tactic to slow down orders, or a tactic to make more money on a rerelease after they still have other older sculpts to rerelease in the 60 size range…oh well, it can't be helped, and there will probably be quite a few orders for them once they get released again for this reason, it's probably a little bit of both they are expecting?

 

not only new face ups but they're adding magnets in the heads too! I'm guessing that's the maintenance they're talking about.

 

Keep in mind that molds are not infinite, lol. They are probably touching them up after years and years of wear and tear. The magnets are just an additional part, but the touch ups make sense. I don't think they intended to slow down orders, but that is bound to happen as a result, which is good for some and not for others xD A true tactic to slow down orders would be stopping Chloe/Celine/Ante sculpts temporarily

Interesting point actually I think the older sculpts are also a little more less popular, thus, more 'rare' and harder to find on the market.

I'm interested in seeing what they do with them. Wondering whether they'll do major changes to the sculpts or just fixing the molds. Who do you guys think they'll start out with? I say Lishe

 

One of the girls I know pointed out to Fairyland that when they took down all the old listings for the older sculpts, they removed any pictures of their default faceups. They had promised her that they were going to retake the photos and she has been reminding them once a week. That will also be a part of this.

 

I have some pictures of my Mirwen in 14mm Makos here. Personally I still prefer 12mm makos in all of my minifees, but Mirwen might have particularly small eyes...

A shame they are discontinuing some of the models for a while, but it will be good for them to get a touch up! I'm glad I ordered my shushu when I did... missing my 4 girls that are way at the faceup artist for 6 weeks now! Hope they'll be back before Christmas. I also tweeted Fairyland to ask about a winter event because I have a $860 order sitting in the cart which would be enough for a top event item. But they replied with this

A few of my Etsy orders came in recently and I've pieced together this outfit for Eva and I just love it soon much. I would totally wear this if I had it in human size! Why do I like my dolls' clothes so much more than my own?

You realize that's about 8 months from now yeah? Not that I don't love Fairyland's work, but eight months is a long time even for them as far as touch ups and magnets. Who knows, maybe they wanted extra time just in case something doesn't go as smoothly as they'd like? I would agree about other sculpts being better to slow production, so I suppose it could just be a rerelease for those particular things, we'll have to wait till autumn to find out @,@

 

Oh! If someone doesn't beat me to the 14mm Mako eyes I can do it when I get home - I just got a pair yesterday! Along with some 12mm Gumdrops I can try.

But you're right about the glass - Yesterday I switched out the 12mm safrindoll acrylics for some 12mm glass and they fit perfectly! Much more natural, no gaps and no weird starey look it had before. I don't really want another blue-eyed doll but those eyes are staying in until I find something better.

And since they temporarily discontinued my favorite MNF mold - some Shiwoo spam.



He does wear 14mm eyes. And a 7/8 wig for his gianty head. lol

 

Wow, surprises all around! So strange that they will not be doing the event. I guess my Shushu will have to wait until next Christmas~

 

considering they just finished a tan event in mid november, i'm not surprised they aren't doing another one just yet. i would expect the next one to come out for valentines day and have the tan pukipukis and realpukis. that's my guess anyway. they don't seem to have a set schedule of winter and summer anymore.

I sort of expected Seoring to be on that list, since he was left out of the first tan event. I'm relieved he isn't though. That's such a long wait!
I'm assuming one thing adding to the slowness might be that they want to finish the current orders of these heads before tweeking the molds.

Interesting to see that they are re-doing some of the older heads. It makes sense to revitalise some of the older models before releasing yet more new MNF. I have to say that none of those models are normally on my radar so I'm really looking to seeing what they will do with them. Are quite a few of them ones that were originally made by Luts (was it Luts or have I got the name wrong?)

I think some heads fit better than others, i'm not quite as happywith my Soo head as Soony, but still better than a floating head;

All of those heads are ones from back when CP was still a part of luts, which means that all of their molds are likely quite old. My guess is that they're going to make all new molds for them so that they can add in those little magnet slots. Not to mention casting can put a lot of wear and tear on molds over the course of years. You start to lose detail after a lot of use so making new ones is eventually mandatory if you want to keep to a certain standard of quality. At least, that's how it is with ceramics molds. I'm sure it's a bit different with resin ones, but they're bound to have similar issues.

 

Okay, so I haven't posted in one of these threads in forever since I fell out of the hobby. But I'm ready to jump back in!

Am I the only one who's ever just completely lost love for a sculpt because of the faceup it has? Because I started absolutely groaning whenever I looked at my chloe because of her default face, but since I wiped it I don't think I've loved her more, and she's just a blank head hehe.

Oh, and another thing. Is the whole hip cup sliding thing normal for minifees? Because my girl loves to auto sit and then it's a pain in my rump to get her to straighten out again.

 

Welcome back!! Is she an A-line or an M-line? My A-line girls are sooooo kicky and continually flip forwards at the hip, but my M-line girls have no problem whatsoever. Anyone found a good solution? Considering hot glueing the leg sockets, but restringing is so stressful >.<

 

She's an A-line, and I should consider making her a dancer with how much she likes to move on her own. I took some grippy white cloth and glued it into her joints and that helped her other joints a ton, but she's still really slippery in the hip area. It's been driving me bonkers, hehe.

 

Noooooo! Marcia and Shushu! I was planning on getting Marcia whole next year. Shushu was also on my maybe list Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer. XP

Glad they didn't do it with Rix and Seorin though. Those are two I'm very much hoping to get sooner rather than later.
