Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 45

If anyone is interested in FL vs. Iplehouse resin color comparisons, here are some of my girls. Left to right: MNF Juri '08 in BW, JID Tania in white skin, MNF Siean in natural, and little BID Naias in normal skin. It's hard to tell from the photo, but FL's white is bluer than Iple's, which is more cream. The Juri '08 head is on a new body, while the JID head & body are about 4 years old. There is quite a size difference. Both girls are barefoot on the same kind of stand to put them on an equal footing. There is very little difference between the Iplehouse white skin and normal skin. Neither of them is a match for FL natural. I tried the Siean head on the JID body. It doesn't fit without some sort of neck piece to hold the head up; without one the head falls way down on the neck. Her head is actually a little small for that body.



I hope a SoulKid body works out for you, spacecadet. Over the years I have had 3 different SoulKid bodies and not one of them was a good poser.

 

So i was gone for a while, came back and decided to look at fairyland's news..
I want those heeled moe feet for mnf! :C so cute! My girl is meant to be my oc's human alternate, and she has a dragon form, and also a canine form, so i love that the toes look like little claws, and those are just too cute! it'd probably be insane to find shoes for though ;o;

Everyone's dolls are looking so great, and i would like to request some sarang spam C:

 

i have a peach gold, and while the normals arent a match they would still be closer than normal and peach gold. the peach gold is quite a bit darker and pinker.

 

Restringed minifees are the best posers I have ever owned - by far! I read earlier in the thread that someone said they are not that good posers, which made me super curious. Which doll types would you consider being the best posers, and in what way?

would love to hear your inputs!
i have had MSDs from supia, elfdoll and Lati and none of them were in the same ballpark as mnf when it comes to posing. My sister had an iplehouse, and she was a pretty good poser.

 

The only dolls I've found that are better posers are Dollie dreams, and those don't count since they don't use elastic XD

 

Hhhm, in my oppinion DC comes pretty far pose wise. I love their body and how it holds the poses a lot, but since I don't have my mnf yet I can't really compare. The only FL doll I have is my ltf and posewise she's on par, if not more so, than the DC

 

I never thought I'd ask for wig size, so for my question I am truly sorry :/ But with 'Tibetan mohair' wigs, is it better to go size up or size down? It's for Juri '11 if that makes a difference. I'm just not sure whether to order 6/7 or 7/8.

I think my m-line is a better poser than my a-lines but I think that's more to do with the cutie legs my a-lines have.

I have to say I think I almost prefer my m-line girl better (body wise even though my Sarang is slowly beating out my Chloe for favorite sculpt.)

Over all I have to say mnf are one of the best posers out there, even though I've only owner IH I have been able to experience a lot of other doll brands and fl wins every time for me

Hmmm. My DC kid is incredibly kicky and is a pain in the butt to pose. Does that mean she needs to be restrung? Are they kicky as a result of being too tight? She's gorgeous, but I'm not loving her as much as I could because she's a pain to play with.

 

The fit of a wig will depend more on what material the fibers of the wig is attached to, more than the fibers themselves. Basically, the synthetic fibers/mohair/whatever is glued, sewn, or otherwise attached to a piece of material that fits around the head. The hairs themselves have nothing to do with the fit of the wig, or very little.

It's better to identify the wig fit using a brand name or type, so that people can try the same wig on their doll and let you know how it fits, if they have it

 

The kickyness is usually from being strung too tight. You could also suede the joints (hot glue or actual sueding) which will help immensely).

 

That's awesome to hear! Since you have a Little Monica, how does the skin tone look next to the Fairyland NS?

 

Now that I have Rin on a M line body. I would like to order a A line body with cutie legs next. But reading this does this mean cutie legs don't pose as wel as model legs?

Yes and no? I've had both and sometimes they do and sometimes it's just an extra second of posing. The best tip is to just suede the joints and you're fine!

I wanted one for more than 1 year and now I have a Juri13 with an A-Line body with cutie legs and all i can say is, that I love this body~! *__*
the posing is very good and she can stand very good too! x3 (but I have to say, that this body is an older one! I bought it here on DoA and it's from 2010/2011)

She's so cute! I don't see this sculpt a lot I love how you styled her hair, it's pretty!

On a side note I am making another wig as the first one I didn't like too much. This time I'm using some matte varnish that dries waterproof. This means that after sticking on the hairs, I can dye them much easier than dying them when they're loose. I hope this works xD;

You might be able to buy it secondhand. Sometimes, they will pop up in the marketplace, so keep an eye out.

 

Unfortunately, I can't say anything for that. My Little Monica girl is actually WS (blushed to NS), so I don't have a fair comparison to FairyLand NS with her. Sometime in the future, I'll likely be ordering another one (who will be NS), but that's not going to be any time soon, unfortunately; I have other dolls who need to come home first!

*Sigh* Drove all the way to the States today (little over an hour away) to pick up my Juri 08 and found that the new parcel receiver that I'm using isn't open past 5pm, and my work is done at 4:30pm, sooo that doesn't work...
I usually go on Sundays, which is why I didn't realize this was a problem, but I can't go this Sunday.
I guess she'll have to wait until Monday morning.

On a postive note some local parcels failed at delivering today, so I get to gather them tomorrow. Maybe if I'm lucky one will be my Mako eyes that have been 25 days in the mail.

For those of you with Juri 13's, what size eyes do you recommend? I'm puzzling over what size to order for mine. She has mystery eyes in the photo below - I ordered them as size 14, but they're bigger than all my other 14s - but would sixteens be too big?

If any of you have eye comparison pics, that would be a big help! Thanks!

my Juri13 has 14mm eyes and I think it's the best size for her! ^^ hm~ I think 16mm would be too big. Don't you have any 16mm eyes at home which you could try on her? maybe from one of your other dolls? ^^

I don't have a Juri '13 specifically but I think going up a size isn't going to help ^^; Eyes of the same size can sometimes have slightly larger pupils than others depending on the manufacturers, that's why the ones you have aren't particularly the same. Some companies offer pupil size options for different mm's of eyes, I think Makoeyes does that.

You could try on the 14mm you have and see if it's a good fit?

@ Rubyliday: I love that shade of red Green eyes + Red hair = Perfect combo My Celine was supposed to have brown ombre hair with blonde tips, but then I decided to switch to red as the colour didn't suit her, so now I'm really leaning towards getting green eyes .-. The thing is, I already ordered Oscardoll eyes in blue :') Let's hope it looks good!

 

Yes, you do have one to stare at And yes, she is a modded sleepy head. (I tried to close the eyes of an OE with epoxy, the way I did with Delaney but that did NOT work) This is the only pic I have of her without a proper faceup but I penciled in brows and lid-lines ... hope this helps

The one I stare at a lot is named "William" in my house mate's collection. I think he's "Sleepier" looking than Amy though.
I want a serious/sassy/no time for BS expression on my girl, as she is rather formal... I think probably modding would do the best

 

Chemcat, I don't have 16mm eyes but I agree with everyone else's comments, that they would be too big. I have a photo on my flickr stream of my Juri 13 wearing a 12mm & 14mm eye if that would help. I knew who you meant and yes, William's eyes are much narrower - he looks very suspicious I think Rheias are very well suited to 'no nonsense' expressions. (PS: Myca is one of my favorite Rheias out there )

Oh, I normally go for 12mms with my gals but 14mms look really good in your '13

 

Ban She's so protective of Myca though.. I never get to play with her >x>; * Most* of her collection I can handle.. there are 5 or 6 though If I try I swear I might get bitten or daggers!

Maybe If I beg to do a group shoot of siblings She'll let me pose Myca for a shoot soon... since two of her brothers are my dolls u.u;
