Gah. I wanna see a picture of a sculpt in the tan skin.

 

just splurged and got me a tan Chloe (was a hard decision). Fairyland exploted as I was trying to pay, so I had to send the payment later, but it seems they have received it. now, the waiting...

 

To be honest...I wasn't either. XD But her little frown actually works perfect for the male character. lol So it works! Yay!

Oh man...Tan for M-line? O n O Want...busties...SO BAD! Dx -rolls around on floor-

 

I have to say, now that my excitement died down a bit... nah. I don't want a tan Chloe after all. The tan skin is too light for what I have in mind, so I'm safe (for now).
Although an idea for a Rheia boy in tan is slowly blooming inside my wretched mind...

 

Haha, well looks like I'm getting a tan Celine! I wasn't allowed to get a Rheia because, in the exact words of my boyfriend, "Don't get a Rheia! She looks fierce, like she'll come out of the closet to boss me around ".

I do think Celine will be adorable in tan, especially with her teeth . Her sculpt reminds me of a very popular Singaporean blogger called XiaXue!

 

I even dreamed that I ordered a doll last night... I am trying to tell myself no because I would prefer the M-line body with a smaller bust and I doubt FL would let me do that. I really hope they bring both things back in the future so I can make sure the doll is perfect.

 

I have a sleeping Rehia's head that am planning to open it's eyes..
Any tips/ links to where I can read about moding sleeping heads?

Latefa The only thing I can say as word of advice is, have patience And be careful with the tools you're using. My eye openings have literally cost me blood, sweat and tears... some more than others But it's worth it in the end!

Probably because I am thinking about it a lot so it is on my mind... The worse thing my Birthday is next month and I get paid double because my bills go out monthly and I get paid every 4 weeks. So once a year I get extra money... Which covers most of it! So right now I just really don't know I am so tempted. I would probably want the tan skin. I wish I had more time to think about it!

I want a cute elf girl and I am trying to decide which would work best, at the moment it is between DES and Karsh, but I sold my Karsh recently because he wasn't working. However I think that is partly because he was a boy and I think I have decided I like girls. Although the upside is I know I like the sculpt...

 

I used to want a DES, but after looking at his/her nose...I decided it was too small for me. ;3 I actually have a female Karsh! She is currently in the process of going to an OE head...which was her twin brothers, but...I didn't really like my boy. xD

Man that's a lot of temptation! My birthday is in July...so I'm totally going to bribe my husband into helping me get one of the tan dolls for my birthday. xD

Also, I think someone mentioned that they would be having tan stuff released time to time. I can't find who mentioned it but I just saw this on twitter.

Where do people tend to buy the longer fur wigs for their dolls?

Yeah... I am probably not going to resit it at this point... I think I hate FL right now! Every time I think I have all the FL I want they go and do something that tempts me! Gah!! I do really like the character that I will be getting as well.

I think I am leaning more towards a Karsh actually, since I know it is a very pretty sculpt and some of the girls have looked really awesome. I just feel like I am never having money ever again at this point!

TAN IS UP! there is no tan hand package but you can order the different hands in tan for an extra 3$. Also it doesn't look like there is an extra charge for ordering a doll in tan skin.

 

The tan has been up for quite a while. And there is a charge, although it doesn't look like it. Once you chose a head, it adds approximately $30 to the price.

 

...well. This is frustrating. If I want to get a tan Carl girl, I keep getting a sold out message. If I try for a tan Carl boy, there is no issue. O.o?

I've messages FL about it, as well as asked them if they plan to release a set of the hands.

 

Aw man. I really wish they would've given a warning about the extra charge. :/ I mean...I know several places do charge extra, but some don't. Laaaaaame, especially after all the bull they've put us through.

 

I'm basically waiting for confirmation from Fairyland on whether or not they're going to release a tan hand package for minifee. I also can't decide if I do want to go with the m-line or a-line bodies for my tan Celine? I really want her in tan but I'm nervous that I'll hate the m-line body.

Oooooh ok. By the sounds of it, it sounded like when ordering the body you can have an option to add hands for an additional 3. I was so confused.

 

Another question: How much is it before FL will give you free shipping on a order?

What are the main concerns about the tan? I know they can discolour faster sometimes and they go green since it is the break down of the red pigment in the resin. However I am not sure if there is anything different from any other company offering tan?

I think I do hate FL right now though... I suspect they are going to be a company I keep going back too...

I saw that when you selected it that there was an extra charge for tan and it looked like it was roughly $30, which is what I expected actually since most companies do charge extra for different coloured skin. I have paid more to have a different skin tone before know I think I have paid an extra $50 before now. So at least the are being reasonable about the price.

It is cool you can get extra hands too, does any one know if you can get the extra A-line feet in tan skin as well? Since I will probably be getting the M-line body!

I am a little baffled why you can't get 5 of the heads in tan option...I guess it's due to limitation of molds maybe? Though now any and all desire for tan is gone due to the heads I'd really want in tan are not available for tan option.

Guess that solves that problem! lol

 

Have they specifically said anything about that or is this just what we're assuming due to the sold out issue? Because if it's the latter it could just be a site error and not anything to worry about and as long as someone brings it to Fairyland's attention, they'll get it sorted out. I can't imagine that they'd not make all of the sculpts available, that would be a pretty crappy move on their part.

Ahaha wow, what? That's awful. I'm pretty super disappointed in them for that. Like... even if it might take longer to get those heads out it's sort of horrible not to even offer them.

It does seem rather odd that they wouldn't make them 5 heads in tan also. You would think if you can get them in WS and NS that making them in tan is no big deal.

 

I guess I won't be ordering Israel in tan, maybe I will just get him a ns body n home-dye him... really disappointed

 

I was really thinking about what I could move around to order a Marcia in tan because she's the only sculpt I'd really want in another resin tone, but I suppose this puts an end to that.

And frankly, the wishy washiness of their handling of this event makes me loathe to order the Pukifee in tan I was thinking about as well.

 

Ahaha, I know. I'm... if I didn't want legit tan I'd not order but I've already got the two pukifees in my cart. It's just really upsetting that they're running their "events" like this. I would be much happier to wait then to have these things be half-assed.

This announcement will explain some more information on this new product.

Tan Skin option is available to A-Line A la Carte, A-Line body, M-Line A la Carte, M-Line body and other body parts.

We regret to announce that B-Line MiniFee will not be available in tan skin.
Also, following 5 heads from A la Carte are excluded from the tan skin option.

- Carl, Marcia, Seorin, Eliya, Ruth

M-Line A la Carte and body will become temporarily sold out from June 30.

A-Line A la Carte and body in tan skin will be available until August 31, same as LittleFee and PukiFee A la Carte products.

So much for me possibly getting a tan Seorin. I wonder why these heads can't be tan... Looks like it'd be a Mirwen boy or a Rheia...

What I would have liked to see is an example of the bodies in tan, WITHOUT clothes. Those littlefee pictures really don't do anything for showing you how the tan actually would look because they're photoshopped as all get out and fully clothed.

I feel like their version of "tan" really isn't anything other then maybe a shade or two darker then their NS?

I would have liked to order a tan PKF but I'm not sure I want to invest without anymore example, and they don't seem to be in a good state for orders, they continue talking about how mobbed they are with orders and then keep releasing new things....

FL you need to just stop adding things and take a nap to clear your head u3u

Yeah, the exclusion of the B-line bodies from the tan made the final decision not to order a tan doll for me. I was still a bit waffl-y before that.

Fairyland posted this on their twitter: "Oh.. sucks that some heads are not available in Tan.. I wonder why... :-((" I don't know if they're hinting they might make tan fullsets of those later, or if... they genuinely don't know why they excluded those heads??

 

*pops out of lurking* Um, not to be an alarmist, but is it possible it's because they are discontinuing those sculpts?

 

That is HIGHLY doubtful, Marcia, Seorin, and Eliya are some of the more commonly purchased sculpts. If they were to even consider it I'm sure there would be riots in the streets.

Marcia is actually a popular sculpt, the likelihood of them discontinuing it is about the same to pigs flying.

I also don't think, in the history of FL being around, that they've ever actually discontinued any singular sculpts, it's either the whole line goes down or nothing happens. So I doubt they'd do that, I mean I rarely ever see some MNF sell anymore but they continue to keep them up, and these are ones that are even sold less then the ones they've listed as uneligible.

I'm thinking it's more a casting issue with the molds?

hm, I see Marcia and Seorins all the time but I rarely see Eliyas! I thought she was not popular, myself. Though I don't think they are discontinuing any. I wonder if it is more to cut back on sales since they are so behind on things?

 

Honestly they should have just waited to bring out tan minifees, if that's the case. They keep bringing out new stuff, taking it away, discontinuing a line "temporarily" because they're behind, then releasing loads of new things at once while still discontinuing the line because they're behind.

I have a question though, or more-so, looking for advice on how to be confident enough to go out and about with my dollies.
I really want to go out, have photoshoots, and have fun! But I'm just nervous about the whole thing. . .
I'm 18, and just rather shy. But I admire people who go out and bring their dollies with them! It looks like a lot of fun~

I've personally never had bad experiences from strangers, a couple of people said they were creepy but they didn't seem genuinely afraid, in fact one still held them. You'll probably get stared at a bit, but I bet most of them are just checking out the beautiful doll you're holding anyway xD
One of the pro's of being outside with your dolls is accidentally bumping into fellow bjd-owners! I've done that once, it was amazing

 

I agree completely. I think that most bjd owners would be in support of companies if they took a small break to catch up instead of over loading themselves. I'd much rather wait a bit longer to get a high quality product than have it rushed and come with tons of problems. I think one of the reasons the companies end up over loading themselves is because they are trying to compete with so many other companies and they don't want to miss out on business. Though I'd say doing what they are ends up hurting them in the end.

karla-chan, you had asked a while back about fur wigs. Did you mean like monstrodesigns sells? I did have a longer one from her once that I sold, but it was lovely. I haven't tried any other longer fur ones, but I know Rikkuliam makes good ones and so does Spite and Malice.

 

Ah! Thank you~ I couldn't see ever how my girls could be creepy, but I guess there are people out there with issues with dolls. (I guess XD)

The only time I have ever went out was during convention times, which people were more tolerable for it. I think it would be wonderful to bump into a fellow BJD owner!

I think I will try going out sometime this week with them! I guess the ~worst~ that can happen is people commenting on it, but if they don't like my hobby, then thank god they aren't me.

Super happy to hear you can get extra hands and it sounds like the high heeled feet in tan(?)! Although, I am starting to wish the tan was a bit darker, LOL! I guess I'm never really satisfied

 

I started moding Rheia's eyes.. and I think I opened them a bit wider than I should have.. :/

 

I was nervous at first to bring my kids around places. I started out bringing them to "safe" places: my friends' houses, my aunt and uncle's. Places where the doll would be safe and no one could criticize me. Then I started to take them to places where they'd "fit in", like the Ren faire, dressed in Renny outfits. I have a lot of friends at the faire, and they all fawned over my dolls and their well made outfits. Then to craft fairs; craft people are creative and can recognize the beauty and art in the dolls. Once I got comfortable with taking my dolls to certain places, I felt more comfortable taking them to different and more complex places. I'm now at a point where I feel comfortable taking them anywhere. I have taken them shopping (the people in JoAnn's love seeing the dolls I'm sewing for), and even on vacation. I've taken them to parks and into the city, to the movies and to plays. I don't take them with me all the time, but when I feel the urge, I don't get nervous any more.

So take some baby steps, see how you feel, and once you feel comfortable, you'll be able to take them to more and more places. Yes, there will be people who think they're creepy and wonder why you're bringing them out. I've have people ask what the deal was with them, as if they have to have a purpose beyond just being pretty and fun, but I've never encountered anything more insidious than that, while most people seem to like them. Good luck! And don't let a few bad apples make you feel like you shouldn't show off the love you have for this hobby.

 

On the Fairyland twitter, they also posted "I never actually said that tans would be released from time to time." and then like... "we'll see" or something like that. I forget the exact wording. So... who knows what they are up to?

I can't imagine that certain molds would make it impossible to cast in certain colors. It really is mysterious why they won't allow those five to be cast. I understand not wanting to do the B-line bodies, since they don't seem as interested in that line anymore, but the heads are weird. That's why I thought they might be planning some kind of limited tan release for them in the future, and they don't want other tans of them floating around so they can keep the release exclusive.

My suggestion if you're nervous about it, is to start with one doll and take her somewhere semi-private, where you won't get a lot of on-lookers. See how you do with that and then experiment with busier places.
Or try less busy times of the day, like 7am on a Sunday or something. Most people don't even look twice honestly.
I take my girls out in my front yard and pose them for pictures. Most of the people walking by don't even look, but the few who do just wave.
Another suggestion is to take a friend with you, if you have someone who is at least supportive of your dolls. Safety in numbers and all that

I e-mailed Fairyland to ask about changing my M-line Celine to tan, and my M-line body to a full M-line Chloe in tan. We'll see what happens. I kind of like that the tan is lighter rather than darker, and some variety in skin tone around here will be nice. It means my Rheia and Mirwen won't get their gigantor-tits, but I'm ok with that.
But yay for resetting my waiting time twice..... I'll never see these girls XD

 

The best way to make people leave you alone when you're either somewhere you're not supposed to be or doing something odd, is to act like you are supposed to be there and doing absolutely nothing strange. The second you start acting shifty or scared of what you are doing will attract attention....that's when you'll attract attention.

Just pay no mind to people around you and go about taking your pictures like it's no big deal.

Well, just like they mentioned, there can be air bubbles and uneven skin tone. I've seen some tan skin look like it has weird white in it...then again it could've been the sealant. I've never purchased a tan doll from another company so I really don't know a lot how other companies behave. I just know what I've heard and what I've seen with some tan from photos.

I've taken my doll(s) to the store with me. xD It's pretty fun. I actually have a really good friend who is terrified as dolls. It's an irrational fear and if you ever come in contact with someone who really is afraid of them then it's best to not get offended. It's not that they don't think she's cute- it's that they're afraid. I've seen so many doll owners get mad at someone who is scared of dolls. Like...if I owned a tarantula and you're scared of creep crawlys why would I get mad at you for freaking out about it? Duh. You can also tell who just finds then creepy or weird and then who is actually scared.

Oh, Fairyland...I really want to see pictures of the tan. With everything I'm a little worried about the tan now. O n O Uuuugh.

 

Anybody got a blank lishe they can take a pic of for me. I want to play around with some face-up concepts before my girl arrives.. I'm really trying to decide whether or not to switch her to tan or not, before DDE gets back to me on whether or not that's possible.
