Senimies, they look so good together, both weird and strange :-) I don't want to spoil the fun, but I must say this: we all have to remember that the resin BJDs are made of is highly toxic and even a small dose may be deadly for such a small creatures, so we need to be extra carefull while getting them close to our dolls.

She's the cutest thing ever. Just out of curiosity, are those Dollinstyle shoes? I've been looking for pics of Minifees wearing them, because finding shoes for my girls is both an addiction and nearly impossible!

 

Okay guys. I am completely torn between a Tan M-line Luka, Ryeon, or Rheia. I need a girl who is innocent, but can look sultry with the right poses. I'm planning on a Marcia to be her counterpoint in the future. Help? Q.Q

 

Hmm... I think out of the three Rheia is the most sultry, but Ryeon the most innocent. For a mixture of the two I would choose Luka, I think. That mouth of hers is so versatile, depending on the pose!

 

I'll agree with Wennie, if you want a mix, go for Luka *nods*

 

Thank you for you kind words These are DaleRae flats. Unfortunatelly, you can get them only secondhand nowadays, as I did. I'm also addicted to well fitted high quality MNF shoes and this I can say: surely DaleRae are both.

Yeah, this wig fits the colour of her eyebrows perfectly, that's why the hair looks so natural Well, it seems like a nice little hunting for some DaleRae awaites you

Top row is Kendall (Woosoo), bottom row left Erin and right Melody (Chloe twins). The fourth girl is Kendall's best friend, she's a Bluefairy Leila named Floss. And I ordered M-Line Ante today to join them eventually!

Your girls look like lots of fun to me :-D I wonder what's the twins' story - since thay are twin sisters, they should look the same and they are not, I'm curious what happened to one (or maybe even both?) of them :-)

 

Thanks, they really are! Depending on the light/wig/styling they don't look too different Mel has a paler complexion because she doesn't like to go outside. She's a blind mindreader. Feel free to read their backstories if you want to know more!

You guys can't believe how happy I' am, I was looking on Think Pink and saw by suprise a minifee Siean head(ns).
I' am so happy because I wanted one^^

This may be the wrong place to ask but since this thread always moves so fast and many people will see it (and hopefully someone knows), I decided to ask here ^^

Somewhere I read that an owner asked Fairyland to slightly change the default faceup of her doll (I believe it was a PKF?) and I think FL allows us to choose what kind of faceup we'd want for a PKF Ante, since she has so many variations from her releases. Or Pukipuki Ruby, where people can request the pink lips from the sold out fullset. I also think I remember someone on flickr who had a default faceupped MNF Chloe, just with lighter lips.

So, in short, would that be possible so slightly change something? I'm completely satisfied with some default faceups, but with others not so much. For example, I'd like to see MNF Ante's on anyone else, simply because I'm curious and I like the pink she has. But that will never happen, I know!

 

That's the only reason I is scared, lol. With TS, unless I do a split or a swap (which probably would never happen) I'd be sticking with whatever head I got. I won't have enough funds to buy another full doll.

I am getting a Rix with a female body also, to me Rix just screams a girl to me, even in the promo pictures. I can't wait to see what you are able to do with that mold, since it doesn't seem like there are many out there on DOA.

 

Does Fairyland mark down packages? I mean, do we europeans have to pay customs every single time? I had to, but I only bought from FL once so far.

 

I've never had a non-marked down package from them, but they don't always mark them low enough so there might still be a small customs fee.

 

I have bought 3 dolls from FL and they have all been marked down at $100. To whether or not them marking down matters or not depends on your country, not all European countries believe what is on the invoice and they ask you to prove how much you paid. That would depend on your county.

I have also been hit 2 out of 3 times with customs with FL dolls. All in all I have had 8 dolls in the past and I have been hit 3 out of 8 times. So it is kind of pot luck if you get hit or not. In fact I bought my first FL doll at the same time as one of my friends, we ordered at the same day (we didn't know until later), we paid on the same day, we got our shipping notices on the same day. However I got hit by customs and she did not and the dolls were probably on the same plane.

I just wanted to point out how important this is, because from what I've (researched) read, if they have any suspicion that you paid more than what's written on the package and you can't prove that you paid the written price, they can charge you customs according to as much as they believe you actually paid. There's no standard price that they charge if they think the item is underdeclared, they just put their own price to it, so to say.

 

That depends on the country, out here if they have doubts they find your product through Google and check. Also, in NL we get hit with fees on everything above $22,- from companies and $40 from private persons, usually every single time. And I've received a lot of packages over the years, so has my friend. If it's over that value they won't let it go until they've put a nice bill on it

 

Wow, that is really scary! I know it differs from each European country, to how much they accept what is written on the box. I know that in the past when FL have marked it down as $100 the UK customs process it as that, OK sometimes they do the VAT as though it was £100 and not $100. However I have spoken to other people from other countries and they never just let them in.

 

They're pretty accepting here. I had a 10 kg parcel with three SDs and a tiny in it marked at $20,- once and they let that through without question

Thanks everyone for the quick answers! Yes, I suspected so much, I HATE paying customs, because to this day I don't really understand the whole system and what its actually for. Seems unnecessary to me. Here they charge for everything above 20 euros. Which is, basically, everthing anyway! I've never bought anything that was cheaper than that. Sometimes I didn't have to pay anything, like with my Leekeworld doll, but I guess I was just lucky!

I'll think about wether I'll get my M-Line Rheia or not. I would get her as I've wanted her for two years now, but I absolutely refuse to pay almost 200 euros for customs! Makes me rage everytime!

My Shushu came yesterday!!!! I was so totally excited that I almost attacked the post guy...... hehe. I spent the afternoon playing with her and trying out some poses, then I popped her heads into a box and sent them off this morning to California. She will come back even more beautiful than she is now.

I took some pictures, but I would rather introduce her here when she's painted and not quite so naked.... I spent waaaaaay too much this weekend buying her clothes and shoes. Hopefully they'll get here soon!

To chime in on the customs topic: I did not have to pay anything on my Shushu yesterday, and I was actually pretty surprised. I just checked her box and it looks like she was only declared at like $70.... that's risky business for sure! I'm glad I didn't have to pay any fees though, it probably would have been around $50.

 

The way customs works is the government have decided that you spending money in a different country is loosing them money, because they are not getting their sales tax. Which is why the import tax is often what sales tax would be if you bought an item in your own country. This part does not bother me so much, however in the UK you get the import tax and then because X company have got your doll out of customs they charge fee's on top of the sales tax.

This gets annoying on smaller items, like once I had to pay import on a pair of dolls knickers, the minimum fee is £8 even if the important tax is a lot less then this. I think that is the part that frustrates me. I try and save the money for import taxes for a doll and assume I am going to be hit, then if I am lucky enough not to me then that is money you have already saved. So I often treat myself to dolls things like extra clothes and things like that.


However yeah it is luck, I got hit with my Shushu and my Chloe but my first Karsh got thought OK. Also all my Chinese dolls have got in no problem, although my WD doll was hit at full value and I did honestly feel sick when they told me how much import was going to be.

Why would it be 200 euro's to get her in your country?

 

Well, thankfully, the customs in Greece are pretty (lazy?) relaxed. If written value is over 45 euro, they're allowed to charge custom fees. I've never gotten hit by customs for anything that came with EMS from companies, even for stuff declared at true value. I've only gotten hit once for one package that came from US, declared are true value ($200? or so) and it was like 50 euro custom fees???!!!! TT^TT; That was a killer. 25% of the item is just so unfair!!! >_<)9 But I doubt anyone at customs here really knows anything about these dolls -v-; They probably just think they're oversized and overweight barbies, so $20 shouldn't surprise them, probably $200 for a head did though!!! XD

But yea, the thing about the customs putting whatever price they want, I read it when I was searching how they work because I am kind of thinking of buying my DSLR from US, because there it's like $600 and here it's 600 euro!!!!! =____=;;; That's just stupid! So I thought, why not, even if I get charged with custom fees, I'll probably have paid what I'd pay anyway, so it's worth the gamble (although the part about them pricing it at wtv value they want is pretty scary...)

 

So the page for the mline ante, says she comes with 16mm but i think those are way too big.. do you think 12mm would look okay?

 

That is pretty lucky, and 25% isn't as bad as some EU countries I have heard some of them as high as 29% and they check the actual value. I have heard Germany is also very keen on customs fees.

I guess it might be worth looking into what they would accept as proof. Since of you can prove the true value that would be what they would base it off.

 

I know FL says all the girl sculpts take 16mm (even sculpts like Mirwen that have much smaller eyes) I'd definitely say a 14mm would fit, on some sculpts 12mm has gaps.

Yeah, sadly customs fees are a part of being in the BJD hobby. It is why some people choose EU dealers and choose to pay the bit extra up front so they know they are not going to get hit by surprise. However sometimes the dealers end up more expensive any way. It depends.

Which hands do you find to be very useful for different poses and/or do you find you get the most use out of? Which numbers provide diversity?
Annnnd...if I wanted to have two MNFs in a dancing pose, which hands should they wear?
