Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 28

Oct 20, 2012

    1. @redribbon - that's how I am about Shushu. I don't have any spam yet as she is still in transit but I will :)

    2. blueskiesnorain, I'll gladly see your girl once she arrives :) Don't forget to share the pics!

    3. Foo. I have to get stuff done today but all I wanna do is hole up in my studio with my dollies and my space heater.

    4. @rossalyn - I'm with you. I want to curl up and watch tv with my new Shushu. :)

    5. Thegreatkait, your doll has such a beautifull face-up!
I just love the detailling around the eyes.

    6. Can I also join the curling up to avoid the world/weather party? I work the late shift today, and all I really want to do is stay home and finish a few commissions / play with Banshee. :(

    7. So I deicided to put off bringing my shushu head home for now. I have other pressing things going on in my life (read closing on and moving into my new house three days before xmas!) Her body is still coming and that's all good. I'm glad that this is all working out. I know she'll be home again sometime in March when I have more time (and money) to spend on her. I'll keep her body in a box until then. Anyway to stay on topic . . . @thegreatkait - I love Sparrow!!! She's goregous thanks for adding a Mirwen to my wishlist ;)

    8. I love her so much though I did want to ask... Where did you get her wig? It's so lovely.

    9. Just because pic of Nika...

    10. I have a question for everyone... Soon I'll be getting a set of MNF twins. I'm really debating about the sculpt though; I'm going back and forth with Rheia, Chloe and Ryeon. I find myself leaning more and more towards the Chloe sculpt. I know the chloe sculpt is really popular and there are even a few sets of chloe twins I've seen... I'm wondering if that will be a problem? Or should I go for a less common sculpt?

Any help/advice on the matter would be appreciated! :D

    11. NewHaven - It doesn't matter, there your dolls. if you like Chloe go for it :) Besides you can never have too many Chloe's am I right?

Oh in other news...My Shushu will be home Monday :D :)

    12. They are your dolls; don't do or not do what you want based on popularity!!!

Edit: in other news I finally have a break in school stuff, I'm finishing that jacket I started tonight!:x So I can post some period minifee spam.

    13. -sneaks in-

I got told I should share the newest member of my minifee family .3. This is Kier :)

He's a slightly modded MNF Mirwen boy. :)

    14. Guys, I need some advice. I feel like I'm not connecting with my doll. Like I'm almost upset with her.
Do you think it's cause I haven't gotten her face up right( or done actually ) so I haven't had any real bonding time?
I've really only held her head and body separately.
And I haven't even strung her.

    15. Maybe put her away for a few days or a week, focus on something else then come back to her and sit down with her. Just focus on the stringing of the doll, doing the face up on the face (not /her/ face) then put a wig on...it may help you rebuild that bond, starting at the beginning from object to doll to character

    16. alogue: He's so handsome *u* I absolutely love Mirwen's.

    17. alogue: He is absolutely fantastic! I never really considered the sculpt for a boy before -- I actually kind of disliked it! - but after seeing it as a boy, especially yours, I'm totally in love! :D

    18. Honestly ignore what everyone else is doing with their dolls and just do what you like with yours. If people say anything to you, ignore them they are your dolls and you are the one that needs to be happy with them at the end of the day, not some stranger on the internet. So as to which ones you should get, the ones you love the most and/or which would suit the character you are planning for them (if you are planning characters). You dolls should be there to please you and only you.

I would try and find owner pictures of all them too, that can help decide which one you like the most too.

    19. Well said !! I agree 100 %

    20. Maram, what a lovely crocheted and knitted set on a lovely doll :) It's pleasure to watch.

    21. Thanks very much, I do wish more people will worry less about what others say and try and enjoy the hobby more. After all hobbies are meant to be fun!

It is why I partly made this poster - http://karla-chan.deviantart.com/#/d5ntedu (although it does have dolly nudity)

    22. Maram - I love her eyes!
alogue - He's amazing!!! I love his faceup.
ForeverVirginia - Awe, she is so peaceful and gentle. :aheartbea

So, it's been way too long since I last posted here. >.<; But, I wanted to share a couple things! :D

      1. This winter, I have plans to purchase a MNF Eliya! Yay! I really look forward to her, she's got the perfect pixie face to be my character, Goat. ^_^
      2. Myliex (my Shushu) has received a pair of deer horns and will soon have a pair of deer ears to match! :D
      3. Myliex will turn 4 this coming March! :o I can't believe she's been around for so long and still my love for her continues to grow. This little girl is my biggest inspiration. :aheartbea
      4. Myliex picture! :D

    23. Yay Myliex! She's so pretty as usual DenaliWind.

    24. DenaliWind: Aww! Those little antlers!~ She's soooo cute.

    25. i totally agree with this! if you like something, there is no reason to not go for it just because it it "popular".

    26. Oh yes, it is just as silly getting something because it isn't very popular!

    27. Thank you guys!! :D

      ______________

Newhaven - I'm a little late to respond, but I just wanted to say I also agree with what everyone has said. Go with the doll you love, you're buying it for you, not everyone else. And you alone can make that doll completely unique to you! It's amazing what people can do to make a well known sculpt look entirely different, even to the point that people wonder, "what sculpt is that??" I do know how it feels though, to worry about having a sculpt that everyone else has. I will say though, that if you think it's something that will prevent you from bonding with a particular sculpt, then maybe that's something to consider too. I did have a friend who had a difficult time bonding with a really popular sculpt because she had trouble making her unique and all she could see was everyone else's doll of that sculpt. But I'm sure there could have been other factors in her experience, maybe some she was unaware of. I guess in the end, you've got to go with your gut! :D And if all else fails, the best part is, you can sell and try again! :D

Once, years ago, I bought a Unoa Sist, and although I liked the sculpt, I prefered Lusis, but everyone and their mother seemed to have a Lusis! In the end, I couldn't bond and now she lives with someone else, lol.

    28. i wish DOA had a like button sometimes. lol so true!

    29. alogue - LOVE LOVE LOVE your Mirwen boy!

      waspandbee - thank you! :D

karla-chan - so glad to see your DA link - now I'M WATCHING YOU.... *L*

DenaliWind - aw, thanks! and duh to 4-yrs and growing love for Myliex - That's cause she's full of awesome!! :D

Karter - Chiming in to add my 2 cents. I've had several MNF sculpts. Dolls come and go here and that's pretty much how I like it. Nika, my Chloe would probably have been sold various times because I don't use her as much for a model, BUT there are 2 things at the top of the list that save her. ONE, I "share" her with my DD who came up with her character although the doll is mine. And TWO, no matter that she is an often-seen sculpt I am ALWAYS pleased with her looks in person and in photos. She has a wonderful natural grace and beauty about her that gives me a sweet, peaceful feeling. She has a very defined personality to me which is the best kind of "nice". So in short, I'm happy with my Chloe!

    30. i have dolls in various sizes that are the "popular" sculpts (as well as some of the more neglected ones) all were chosen because i loved the look. by the time i did the faceup, chose the eyes and hair the dolls were uniquely mine. even with default faces it's very rare to see two dolls that are identical (unless someone purposely made identical twins) so no matter what sculpt you choose the doll(s) will be "yours" once you are done, there are just so many options out there. that's the great thing about bjd's they don't come finished and all the same! :)

    31. Just a note on wig sizes for Minifees again. I bought a bunch of Monique wigs awhile ago and they finally arrived (though 3 out of 5 had defects and I'm going to be getting replacements). Well I bought some in 7-8 and a couple in 6-7. Only one 6-7 fits with a bit of stretching, the other just pops straight off and the caps doesn't stretch to keep it on. I would try and stretch it by pulling it, but I kinda don't like the scale of it when it stays on for all of 2 seconds anyway so I'm probably just going to sell it and buy the bigger size.

It's strange because I thought the Roxie wig wouldn't differ much in terms of scale since it's a short wig, but it doesn't look very... I dunno, like there's not much volume. Hard to describe! I might try getting a photo of it.

So out of all 5 wigs only 1 is has no defects and fits. Bit disappointed cause of the wait but I know it's not the dealer's fault. :(

So yeah, with Monique it seems hit or miss with the 6-7 size. Judging from my experience you'd most likely be better getting 7-8 and getting a cap or a rubber band so the wig stays on. The 7-8 wigs I have aren't overly huge either like the Leeke ones.

    32. Denali: I loooove Myliex! She is one of my FAVOURITE Shushus and I love that she's basically a forum old timer. ;) Her deer concept is also really distinct and awesome -- can't wait to see the ears - and I love her style. Where did you get her shirt?

    33. Thanks everyone for all the advice! The more I think about it and the more I look at pictures, I just LOVE the Chloe sculpt. Especially for the two characters I'm thinking of. :) I'm going to wait and see if Fairyland does an event for Christmas or New Years but that sculpt is next on my purchase list. :)

    34. Chloe sculpt is so beautiful! Who cares, it's so common! My Espe has faceup by ForeverVirginia. There was her her Nika on the previous page-here is my Espe. Similar somewhat but each of them so unique.( Still my favorite girl so now I have 3 more MSD.)

    35. @NewHaven - Think of it this way. There's a reason we've all had and/or want a Chloe...She's beautiful!!! So I don't think it's a negative thing that there are so many of them. I think it's just because we all love her so much :D She's a beautiful sculpt. But I understand your feelings, I felt the excat same way and asked the exact same questions when I was buying my Chloe. So I understand the hesitation as well. Hope this helps!!!

    36. Fairylands just announced a Winter event!

So even though there doesn't seem to be new Minifee stuff, we'll have to wait and see what they come out with! ^^

    37. ffeple65 and chicline will probably make it safe for me. i "only" collect mnf, ltf, pkf and rp
