Crazykimochii- Oh I feel for you! Minifees have to be the hardest dolls I have ever restrung. I got him fully together last night,but he is a tiny bit kicky. v.v But after noticing that my fingers were more purple and black then his polka dots on his underwear,I can deal. xD

My Chloe is going back to the spa for a total overhaul. Everything from restringing to a new faceup. I'm really excited about it. My camera is still dead so no spam. Everyone's dollies are beautiful as always.
@pinksugar - Where did you get Chiyo's faceup done it's beautiful!!

I needed purple eyes for my LTF, sugarxpopz, and I had the exact same problem. XD Purple eyes in particular are hard to find good options for, and I think purple doesn't photograph too terribly well. :\

Good luck, dollyb! Hehe, I know how bruised fingers go. XD Thankfully I've had my boyfriend to help with both my restringings!

Wow, blueskiesnorain. Was her stringing problematic? It'll be exciting to see her new faceup!

 

purple is really hard to photograph. ember has purple eyes and i had to go through several to find some that looked good in person and in photos. the ones she has now still tend to look almost black sometimes even though they are more plum but i didn't want to go any lighter for hers.

 

@inveriate - She's second hand from the marketplace so she's well loved. I was so excited for her arrival I overlooked and rushed into a lof of things so now it's just time to fix her up the way I want her to be. Right now I feel like she's beautiful but I'm not really bonded with her. She doesn't feel like mine yet, so I'm hoping an overhaul will do the trick. (that was longer than I meant it to be )

 

CHISA.TO; Thank you! Hopefully I'll have some Mirwen spam for you tomorrow ^o^ My girl should be back from her face-up by then. Also, it's so hard to choose the perfect minifee. I'd say Chloe's my favorite, but I love my Luka and I'm sure I'm going to adore my Mirwen, too.

blueskiesnorain; I sent her to a face-up artist in Thailand named Nomyens. I also sent my Luka & Mirwen there, too. Good luck on getting your Chloe overhauled! I had to do the same thing after I first customized my girl. She had a great face-up, but not what I invisioned. After I got her face-up redone... I was so happy!

 

Wow everyone's spam has been really great! I have really missed it.

I also now have 3 MNFs since my Chloe came home last Saturday. She doesn't have a face up yet or anything. I am going to get Foolbot to do it when it is my turn in the que. I got hit by customs as well, so I had to go into town to pick her up, so I ended up with another Starbucks box opening. ^^; But this is Ki:

She is meant to be a D&D Kalasthar so that is why she has the blind eyes. I am excited about her.

She has a few on at the moment, but she will let me know when I can send her off, we are doing it that way because we live fairly close by. I want to send her off just before because I would miss her too much! ^^; I tend to get freaked out by dolls without a face-up. But Chloe is not too bad though. I am dying to play with her and doing loads of photoshoots though.

I am excited to see what she does with your Chloe and Mirwen since she does do some amazing work. She partly worked on Ico's face up.

 

My two have been with her for a month or so now but she did tell me she had others in the queue before them. Shes sent a few progress photos and theyre looking real good so far !! But the wait is agonising lol She did a face-up for my daughters Doll Chateau Bella and she was amazing !! Every day that passes is a day closer thats the way Im looking at it lol Im sure they are going to be fantastic !!! I do miss them - so do their headless bodies ha ha !! I do at least have other minifee at home to distract me - my own and Sophies so all is good !

I have been told when it is my turn it will take about a week if the weather has been good, because she will send WIP shots, which is important for me. Because I am very fussy, I know she will do an awesome job though, because I adore Ico's face-up. I know the weather has been very raining which is bad for MSC spraying.

I would miss her, which is why I am just going to send her when it is my turn. I figured she can borrow Ico's spare head when she is gone so I am not weirded out by a headless stump! Although that still might freak me out, so will we have to see. It will all be worth it when she comes back with her face up though.

Haha, blueskies, that wasn't too long. XD I think people prefer conversation to vague one-liners anyway, haha. I hope you love her when she comes home! I actually had a little trouble bonding when I got Fionha and Jamie back; I loved their faceups, I just wasn't as comfortable photographing them anymore, so I had to take a dolly break, hehe.

Thanks so much, well the good news is that Foolbot did part of Ico's face up and she is the same artist who is doing Ki. I am going to go for a bit more natural look with my Chloe though, but make her look like she has never been outside almost.

I did all that last night and started playing around with the bios and my Luka and I'm getting a little wish washy about wanting to keep the body :-/ Maybe I should just wait till I get my head in. (Never thought I'd say that xD)

For faceups- can you use soft pastels just as good?

It is part of the characters back-story. She was in a lab/prison in a area full of undead and evil necromancers in the D&D forgotten realms setting. She was taken when she was very young and experimented on and only freed recently by my partners character. So she has never really been outside until recently. I thought it would be pretty if her face-up showed that.

It is what made me go for white skin in the end.

 

Wow, it is so easy to miss SO much on this thread by just not logging in for one day!! I love seeing all of your minifees, everyone! The differences between them, even ones of the same mold, never stops baffling me. I love all of your creativity and the personalities that your dolls radiate. It's wonderful. I really love that you all are sharing!!

In my news, my birthday is a mere two weeks (and one day) away, so I should know how soon I can order Delilah (my future Minifee Ryeon) by then. I have her personality all set and a coming home outfit picked out. Her wig and eyes have been chosen, as well!

Speaking of wigs, has anyone ordered directly from the Monique website? That's the only place I can find the wig in the color and size that I need, but it doesn't say anywhere on her site where to find a shipping estimate unless I fully check out, which I'm not ready to do quite yet. That's because I'm not ordering ANYTHING until I order Delilah, hehe. Any help is appreciated!!

 

Thanks for the comments on my Rix. Here is a picture of my twins together. Zephyr is the boy and Zane is a girl using the sleeping plate. Well, he will be a girl once I can get a girl body. I only recently decided I wanted to use the sleeping plate as a girl, so this is a let's pretend situation, lol.

yes still a rheia boy, lately though Luka and his charming smile has been trying to challenge me but I refuse to change my mind again. And I think if I am not mistaken I think i seen your dolls on her flickr she did an amazing job on them.

aren't they? it amazes me how much alike they look though i love luka's smile but i love rheia's seriousness too bad my character is a mixture of both sculpts lol

 

I find that Luka boys tend to have a sly undertone to them, while most Rheia almost want to be cuddled and they look a little sad sometimes

 

Can I use Krylon Matte Finish on resin? I blushed Chris's body and need to seal and that's all I have around right now. :-/

 

I think I like rheia boys too since there aren't many of them. Maybe one day ill have both sculpts

maybe i should do like a mock up to see which one would work best. My chararcter is very shy scared of just about everything and really quiet, but he's super artistic and colorful. He always looks rather worried about something.

 

decided to just start new with my shushu or possible luka. I think mirwen is gorgeous, but I think I couldn't photograph her as well. mirwen's are beautiful tho, just wish I could SHOW the beauty :\

 

Do B-line bodies pose fairly well? Needing to know ASAP!

 

Thanks Julie - the faceup was done by the fantastically talented Eludys and, yes like silver stated she is a Karsh.

Allstar - I was working outdoors yesterday and the heat really got to me after almost 6 straight hours of standing out in the hot sun - other than almost fainting from the heat - I guess it wasn't too bad of a day. I did get a shipping notice from DDE for my Karsh boy!

pinksugar - Thanks ^^ Your girls are always a sight for sore eyes! I think it's awesome you got an SP Mirwen to mod! I really would love to see the outcome!

LuckyXIII - I really like your Rix twins! I think that the sculpt is a bit similar (although cheekier version) of Chloe - might be just me though. Lovely Rix's though!

 

I don't want to pass advice out like I understand your situation, dollyb, but if I were you I would focus on one doll until you can really afford more. :\ I see a lot of people buying dolls right and left, and while I TOTALLY understand wanting a lot of dolls, there are people who can afford that and there are people who can't. For me, the Minifee body was more important to me even than the minifee head! But I saved for a whole year to buy Fionha, and my accumulation has been really slow over the years. As a result, I don't end up juggling dolls. I think if what you really want is a minifee complete with a good a-line body, you should focus on that and try to be more controlled about the other dolls you want. In my personal opinion, if you're going to be in a hobby as inherently expensive as this one, you may as well do it right and not cut corners just to have a lot of dolls.

Ugh, that sounded super preachy, and I apologize to anyone who might be offended by it. XD I know there are people who juggle dolls because they don't bond and they can afford it, and that's fine, haha. That's everyone's own business.

I second this at first I wanted to order 5 dolls but then I really thought about it...and decided that one doll is all I need right especially since I know I have other responsibilities to take care of. I think this thread inspires a lot of people to buy dolls at the spur of the moment. We see potential in dolls we never seen before and just give in. Some of us are happy with our choices and then some just to end up selling it later. I know I have changed my mind several times over one doll and I refuse to change my mind again.

pokori, that's exactly what I was thinking. Way to say it in fewer and prettier words. XD If I had a quarter for every time I've been REALLY tempted to throw caution to the wind and buy a mold I literally JUST fell in love with.....hehe, I'd have the money to afford it at that point! I have an easier time of it since I'm naturally really reluctant to spend any money (frustrating sometimes) but I tend to pour my dolly-want into browsing the gallery or photostories or something...

 

It was Blair's birthday yesterday, so we celebrated with her favorite food: a cupcake!

 

Oh poop. There are some pretty light purple eyes I've been eyeing from Captured in Glass, though.

I don't see why purple is hard to photograph. But hopefully I'll find a shade I like. Ember has some pretty purples, by the way :3

I can't wait to see your Ryeon! She's my most favorite sculpt and I plan on having another one sometime in the future . My Ryeon's Monique wig was ordered straight from the site. If I'm not mistaken, I think the shipping was around $9 or $10, I think. Even then I didn't know the shipping until I received the wig.

She got stuck in customs for ages though! FL was super quick on shipping and I thought it would have been longer since I ordered the date the event started.

ditto i think the hardest part for me right now is finding a faceup artist since the one I wanted for the beginning left lol. It has been so hard seeking a replacement. I am stuck between angel toast and nomyens

 

I do love Angel toast, just not the way she does eyebrows.. x-x; even on boys I think they look rather girly. and ill-set on the head... Not for all sculpts though.

 

I can finally post! I've been watching all the lovely pictures in this thread while waiting to be accepted. Everyone is so pretty and are making me want mine home sooner. I'm currently saving for her though and looking at pictures and reading information.

Honestly, there's no need to go bashing around because people like Karsh or AngelToast just because you don't or something... Everyone has their own preference.

As for me, I have Brink, my favorite of both worlds, he's a Karsh AND he was painted by AngelToast (tattoos by Tsuminaki). And I love him just the way he is! (and Karsh spam, woo!)

Well this makes my decision more easier since I adore Brink's faceup. I do love how natural she makes the sculpts look
silver I actually love the way she does her brows and I have seen some very masculine ones. I know for my boy he will have thick brows. I do like her style though it's different

As I Do like Angel Toast's work. She's done tons of dolls that I like. I merely said I dislike how she does eyebrows. If someone else likes it then that's fine. Not saying anyone shouldn't!

Also why bring up Karsh in the bashing? I made no mention of the sculpt recently. Is it because in the past I've said how I am on the fence with the sculpt or something? Lol
I know I've pretty clearly said sometimes I love the sculpt and other times I am completely unsure of them. there -is- one on my wishlist...

There are quite a few on the forum that I enjoy looking at, typically I find I like them modded better... never a bashing against them though

I've seen a couple of her dolls end up looking really bizarre, or just not right... ( Lyzrd's Juri 11 before Xhanthi repainted her was one of my major turn offs to AT's brow jobs, but I do love her eyelashes and mods, so she is good in that right to me! )

 

Not sure if you were wanting Karsh and Mirwen together or not. Morganna is happy to come by for the Mirwen spam if she is okay without a Karsh sidekick? Though if a Karsh would want to come my way I sure wouldn't say No!

There is a lot of great artist but I recommend slash_spread! She did my Luka and did an awesome job!!!
