My Shushu and Karsh both came with glass eyes. My Karsh is still wearing his, because i thought they were better then the ones i bought for him!

 

But they followed me I think it was also the small size of iris. XD But your doll does not look that scary.

 

My Seorin still wears his Fairyland default eyes - Ive tried loads of others but go back to them everytime . The boys tend to come with 14mm which look better than the bug eye 16mm the girls get. Although the colours are sometimes really nice - its the size !! Just too big !!!!!

 

Lol, i see. I think she looks cute now she has all her hair and make up. But she was a little creepy at first. And i can understand you being freaked, eyes on dolls are what can scare me the most actually. It is why i don't like acrylics. They scare me... ^^;

I see that is kind of cool. I do really like the ones Owick has, they are a lovely colour and i think the size suits.

I didn't know they came with different sizes actually. I do think 14mm do look better in the MNF, 2 out of 3 of my RS girls also have 14mm too. I have one who does wear 16mm, but her head is an all round bigger head. But what is cool she does change her look, so all spare eyes i get, she steals.

 

I did not buy mine from fairyland (second hand) but i think the seller have send her with the default eyes which is acryl (i think). They look beautiful and it always looks like she looks at you.

personally i think all of mine look like aliens till they get faceups. it bothered me at first, wondering if i had chosen wrong, but now i know they'll look better once they've been to the "spa"

all of my dolls have come with acrylic except a couple that i bought during an event where the special was an upgrade to free random glass eyes. it doesn't matter to me since i almost never keep the defaults

wow. i have missed so many pages. lovely spam everyone. and since i am getting near what i hope to be the end of my waiting for my shushu i am really enjoying all the shushu spam.

ive placed another order from leeke for a new wig for both rumor and lyric as well as another one for my shushu, in case she wants to be colorful like my other two (the one i have at home for her already is not a fantasy color) i cant wait


Rumor has told me she is ready for a custom face up. only im not sure if i am ready to send her off yet lol. she is my favorite and i play with her all the time im not sure if im ready to send her off for a few weeks just yet.

vervain- Yeah. My Luka came with blue eyes and it seems whatever way you turn her while she is looking straight on they follow you but its cute and innocent and not creepy..I prorbably sound weird about now. XD

 

When I got Lily she came with blue eyes. I quickly pulled them out and gave them to her hubby Puck. The blue worked out so much nicer for him.

Oh, you should be okay then. Crochet, as you say, gives some and is pretty forgiving of fitting irregularities.

Can't go wrong with Fairyland! I think you'll love any doll you might pick. Just "Fairyland" though, or are you thinking specifically of the Minifee size? I have Minifee, LittleFee, and Pukifee and love them all, but found my Pukpuki and RealPuki dolls were a bit too small for my liking.

My MNF Mirwen came with 16mm glass eyes. I think my Luka girl came with 14mm glass eyes though, but the Luka full set is a guy, so maybe that's why? It actually surprised me to see the blank dolls arrive with eyes at all as I was under the impression that you don't get eyes unless you get a faceup.

Still I find even the 14mm to be too large. I prefer a more natural eye size so I end up swapping them out immdediately, even if I otherwise like the colour. It's too bad, seems such a waste! The huge, all iris, no whites eye really looks alien to me though, and creeps me out if a doll is supposed to be a human character.

It would be nice if Fairyland switched to 14mm for all their MNF. It seems not too many keep the 16mm. Such a waste for them to supply that size.

Here's an eye related spam request. I'd love to see close up pictures of your girls. I'll specifically be looking at their eyelashes of all things. If you know the make, size, colour or any other details about the eyelashes.....like where I can buy them....that will earn you bonus points too.

I'm sending Panalaya out for a faceup soon and she'll be needing eyelashes. The eyelashes in Morganna and Shannon are about the length I like, but they are kind of sparse. I'll like something a bit fuller, but not terribly long and dramatic.

 

felt like adding a little spam today. here is my modded ari, eris. in response to your question, wovenflame, some of my favorite eyelashes are from daiso. they're short and full and look quite good on the dolls. they're the no. 98 lashes and you can kinda see them on eris here...

Ok in general reply to half of you.... I can relate to opening a doll box, having a blank face stare up at you and thinking uh this was a mistake. My shushu's sleeping head was not attractive in a creepy alien sort of way till I stuck some eyebrows on it at least.

They look so real and yet so not when they are blank that it messes with our perception in a way we naturally don't find comfortable. So if you find yourself thinking that relax, it's a scientifically proven natural response that I unfortunately can't remember the name of.


Second, I lean against 16mm eyes especially the dark blue ones FL sent with my DES. They really tend toward bug eyed. So I personally prefer 14mm. Which is why the Dollpeddler made my day just last week they have a couple of the Glib Acrylic eyes I wanted in 14 that DDE no longer has.

@Elcia I actually love the blank faces. I find them quite endearing myself. XD Probably one of few that adores them that way sometimes better than they are painted.

Both my MNFs came with glass eyes, but my LTF did come with acrylics...pretty gross ones, too, bleh. I'm in the process of selling my default eyes, but that's more because of size than quality. I've been pretty impressed by the quality of the default MNF eyes!

I hear you, pokori. I got both my current MNFs with default faceups, partially because I was afraid to do the whole send-heads-to-people-you've-never-met thing, haha. But my fear is that if I buy them blank and then don't get around to sending them off for faceups, I'll get really frustrated with them in the meantime. But I think since I've identified a good handful of faceup artists I would be willing to commission, I'm going to order the rest of my dolls blank to save money, hehe. :3

Are minifees really as awesomely poseable as everyone says? I was looking at the promo pics on the website and they're really impressive and I'm getting all sorts of psyched. Also does anyone know how long it usually takes Fairyland to get your order to you?

The a-line body has really fantastic posing and balance, etc. I love it. >w< As for timing, Fairyland usually has the processing time on their site, like 40 business days or something like that. It usually only takes a couple days to arrive once it ships, though. ^^

silver, Myca is the best name for her. ;u; It makes me think of mica, and for some reason her pale colors make sense with that, for me...

 

40 days is not bad at all omg. 8U Yeah, I'm getting him with the A-line, muscle body. ;u; I was thinking about the A-line plain, but... idk. The plain one looks a bit too soft for the chara I have in mind. ^_^

During events Fairyland can take a bit longer, during thier 10% off event It took 4 months and 4 days, for my boy to get home. It also depends on whether or not you use one of their dealers, like DDE, which I did.

 

I'm going straight to the company. ^_^ I hope that means it'll come sooner. Gosh I'm excited. Fairyland has the cutest elf ears ever.

 

I felt the same way before ordering all of my dolls. But as soon as they got face-ups and I made them my own, I fell in love. So I would say at least get them a decent face-up before deciding if you haven't bonded with them.

I myself am preparing to order a Chloe soon. So I have those same worries again. x.x

How long did it take you to get your doll through DDE? I plan on ordering Chloe through them for the layaway option.

 

Mistress_Of_Burden It took 4 months, but they were super nice, when they messed up my order. The layaway options, and less expensive shipping, were what really drew me in.

 

calmwater801, same for me. Now that I have a family (well sort of, just a husband, but a family no less lol) I can't just drop $500+ on a doll like I used too when all I had to deal with was myself! But you're saying that it took all four months for your doll to even arrive at DDE? That's crazy. It took a little over a month for FL to ship my LTF, and then another 2 weeks to actually get her, so that seems a little bit weird.

 

Maybe it was because of the event? She mentioned that there was an event going at the time.

I really hope my Karsh gets here quickly. ;u; I'm getting both open-eye and sleeping faces. I'm gonna have to save to get them both face-upped at the same time.

 

Quetz, ahh yeah, I forgot about that. I didn't order during an event. That means that mine might take a little while since I plan on ordering at the end of September, and they'll probably still be filling event orders. Fuuuun, I've never had to deal with that before.

 

I dunno.. Every time I ordered via DDE it took WAY longer.. 1-2 months longer to get my dolls.. Even though it sucks to drop the cash all at once it's so much faster.. XD

 

Man, this is making me want to place my order right now... But I can't place it until I get the check from the insurance company. XD I mean, I know the money is coming, but I don't wanna use it before I am certain I have it....

 

silvermasques, I agree, but when you're paying layaway you're going to take 4 months to pay it off so it doesn't matter if DDE gets it in two months or 4 months. Unless you're going the 3 month layaway option. Then it would suck. xp

 

I always pay off layaways early. So I hate waiting longer than I need to.

Unlike SOOM as of late where they've been starting production pretty soon into the layaway rather than once your fully paid off like they used to!

Like paying off Keet's IO/Chrom and having a shipping notice 3 days after was exciting! XD

I prefer having as close to instant gratification as I can. It's different knowing the companies take "x" to produce... but it still takes SO much longer to get to the middle-man dealer...A week or two difference is understandable. 1-2 months more? No thanks.. XD

 

Yeah, man. I'm totally willing to pay like $40 more in shipping to get my doll ASAP. XD And since I'm paying for it with money I got from an insurance claim (the insurance company just GAVE it to me, like as a sweetener. I guess to make sure I don't bug them anymore?) I'll be able to just buy him with no layaway! So excite.

 

yeah that's the really nice thing, that they order it when the layaway starts. you still get the long wait but the payments are a little easier hehe

 

mendokusai, yeah I emailed DDE yesterday about that. I was glad when she said that they order after your first payment. I probably won't be making early payments, unless I do really well at AWA (but even then I would order direct from FL if that happened), so I don't have to worry about waiting even longer after I finished paying.

Me too! I really would love for them to come out with new hands for the MnF's like what they've done with the new Feeple60cm line. I'd love some little peace sign hands or a pointing finger for my Shushu!!

 

I'm getting an extra pair of hands with my Karsh and I plan to get more hands down the line. ^_^ I like how easy it is to change the hands!! It'll make my Karsh my most expressive doll, I think. (Not that I actually have many dolls to compare him to, haha)

 

BUUHHHHH all this talk about layaways is making me really antsy and tempted to start a layaway for the karsh I really want. XD I usually shy away from getting the same doll everyone else is getting, and I told myself I'd never order through DDE, but...the shipping is less, I have a couple months anyway, and it would be easier to make the payments... >.< You guys. You make me doll-greedy.

It's so odd to see everyone talking about Karsh. I decided to go with instant gratification and I ordered a Karsh from DDE that they currently had in stock. He should arrive on Wednesday. Since I'll have him on hand to get to know his size and make clothes for, I can wait for the next Minifee event/full set to get a female minifee.

inverinate- Your girl has both my boyfriend AND myself looking at DES... it looks like next year, around his birthday, one of these girls might be joining us as the third MNF in the house, and his first doll ^_^ (She'll hopefully be accompanied by a body, as well, so that Angie and Layla can stop fighting over theirs.)

I wanted to take some photos of my Rena a few days ago, but unfortunately, due to a very busy weekend and working late every time I want to take doll pictures, I haven't gotten around to it >.> I'm praying for good weather this afternoon so I can rush home and take some pictures of Layla!

silvermasques; I hate to hear that! I'm getting my Luka through them. ;~; I expect to wait long on her... but I can't actually drop any cash all at once. I figured that by the time I'm done paying on her, she'll be ready to come home, though. ... But maybe not. D: I did a 3-month layaway, so that'll be a hit or miss. She'll either be ready or she'll have a month or so left.

Alas. I'll probably be distracting myself with work during the meantime, though. >.< And... possibly working on getting her a Karsh home around the same time.
