Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 24

Jul 17, 2012

    1. For the Rheia and WS spam requests - my little fox -

    2. I have always loved your little Rheia fox, kearsy! It makes it such a difficult decision - do I get a girl or boy Rheia?!

    3. I'm loving everyone's pictures :3
And I'm uploading the toy photoshoot little by little. I don't want to flood anyone's Flickr too much. Lol. But here's a picture of Marcy trying to get everyone into Pooh's house.

    4. Get one on a girl body and buy a boy body separate; mod the sleeping head :)

    5. So jealous. :P
      She is soo toot!

    6. Aww, thanks :3

    7. Does any one own (or has owned) both a RS girl doll (preferable the single jointed body) and a MNF A-line body with the small chest?

I want to make clothes for my Chloe and my current MNF has the cutie bust so i can't use her as a model. But i was wondering how close a RS girl chest was to the MNF small bust. I know MNFs have shoulders that are a little wider. But i am not sure how much of a difference that will make for clothes.

    8. pinksugar - Oh well I am so glad (*evil laughter*) to be a Shushu enabler! I really love the mold, and have been thinking for the longest time that I need a twin for her - maybe I will, maybe I won't - still thinking! And sounds exciting about your girls - hope she finishes sooner than expected so you can have her home and show us how great she will look! :D

crazykimochi - I really like that picture so much, and now I feel like a total idiot thinking that the boys were not taller than the girls ( :sweat ) ...I really didn't remember Kyle being that much taller to make a difference, but I guess it does make a bit of a difference. Thanks for the picture - now I am more excited about my Karsh, haha! :)

    9. Kearsy your lovely WS Rheia makes me anxious to have my WS Juri go out for a faceup. The WS really does look lovely when blushed nicely.

I've been working on a corset for Morganna. The fit isn't right and it still requires a lot of adjustment. Once I get the fit right though I think I'll be making her quite a few of these. I love the way they look!

      Morganna by wovenflame, on Flickr

Morganna is a small bust. Once I have the fit of her corset down I'll then turn my attention to the Juri '08, Panalaya, and her large bust. I did have to go and complicate things by having girls with different bust sizes, hmm? :doh

    10. karla-chan: I don't have a RS girl, but I do have both the cutie bust and small bust on ms. Honestly, the small bust is not much bigger than cutie. You might just want to add a little bit of padding (like with a cotton ball or tissue paper) to your cutie bust when sewing. I think you'd get a better fit that way :)

wovenflame: Lovely!! Wish I could make something like that!!

    11. It's looking lovely so far! But I feel your pain, I have all three bust sizes here to work with. It's not so bad for looser fitting things, but for anything fitted it's a pain in the butt!

    12. I don't think i would be very good at that. I am not the best at sewing. I have just started making stuff that doesn't need a bust measurement for now. But i do have idea's that i will need to make tops and dresses for. ^^; I have made stuff for MNFs using my RS girls because i know they can be similar sized. But the idea i have does need to have a fairly good idea how the bust it.

Thanks so much for your input though.

    13. I just looked at both the ResinSoul and Fairyland measurement charts and they say both dolls have a 15.5cm chest. Not sure if that was single or double joint on the RS girl, though. (I'll measure my RS single jointed girl to double check. ETA: Yup, 15.5cm :) )

    14. Kearsy - Your Rheia is beautiful, I love her little ears! Is that her fluffy tail too? So adorable!

xxSugarxPopzxx - I love this picture of Marcy and her toys! She has a lovely hat too :)

Wovenflame - Morganna is looking stunning! That is a lovely corset! I need to do some more sewing - thank you for the inspiration!

Karla-chan - I have seen your sewing and I think it is very good!

I'm spamming my Benjamin again - I ordered him a beautiful wig off the marketplace and was playing around with the website photos of the wig (from Crobidoll). I photoshopped his face onto their photo and I think he is going to be so cute in it!

    15. Wovenflame - You have talent :P My sewing skills are limited to only being good at making pillows. Lol.
Calio4 - Thanks :D Her hat is from GuppyKisses.

    16. Woven- That is SO awesome!! How'd you ever do that? xD

I got an OE Luka head, and I was looking around for a sleeping plate, will the sleeping plate go on the OE head's back headcap? Or do I have to get the whole sleeping head?

      Thanks!

    17. @ Kearsy

how did you get those ears to look like that? I attempted to put some ars on my girl the other day and they refused to go under the wig. Is that because of the smaller wig size? (6/7) or something els? they are Leeke ear parts

    18. Oh I'm glad to hear that. I love it when people sew for the dolls. It's so fun seeing the variety and creativity other people come up with.

That's quite the photo editing/combining skills you have there. I wouldn't know where to begin to do something like that.

Well thanks, but really, my "talent" doesn't usually extend too far. I usually try to find a pattern to follow for the basic sizing and then just add my own creative touches.

In one word? -----PATTERN!----- LOL. Having a pattern was essential for me. I know how to sew, but I'm not so great at creating my own patterns or doing any intricate fitting. This first attempt really does need alot of adjustment though. The original pattern, by Gracefaerie, was not designed for Minifee. I'm hoping after making a few, and adjusting the fit and then altering the pattern pieces to correspond, that I'll eventually be able to make the corsets straight from my revised pieces with no fitting necessary for my own dolls at least.

    19. I had a productive day today. After months of sitting blank in a box I attempted to repaint my poor, poor Chloe. I consider it to be a success! It's not perfect but I'm happy to have my girl back in one piece.
Kiri (Shushu), her twin, is happier than I am to have her other half.
      Took some pictures to celebrate!

The Twins, together at last by Karrigan Kat, on Flickr

      I also repainted my Juri 10 kissy face and I quite like it... I can hear her demanding her own body now ^^;

    20. Karrigankat- They are beautiful! Where did you get your ShuShus wig if you don't mind my asking?

    21. I finally have some real spam to share. My Chloe is back from the spa, her name is Ginny. Short for Genevieve.

    22. Thanks so much! It's a sandy brown wig from Leeke... W-037 I think. Sooo soft!

Ohh grats Blueskies! Can't wait to see her on a body

    23. @blueskiesnorain: Genevieve looks so glamorous! Congratulations!

    24. She's SO beautiful, blueskiesnorain. I absolutely love her and the pictures really show the faceup off nicely.

    25. blueskiesnorain - Congratulations! She is so beautiful!!! I love her eyes, where are they from?

    26. blueskies - she looks amazing!

And Nyne is all done! (and now its dark and I can't take photos grrrrr) She got her dermals all done now, they're a little big, I'm waiting on some smaller than the ones I've used, but I'm super excited! And a new faceup is really nice imo, I'm really happy with it heh

    27. @Denaliwind - I'm not sure because there not mine sorry. :(

    28. Blueskiesnorain
Your Ginnie is making me want a Chloe~ She is so beautiful!!!

    29. Thank you everyone for the responses! This is helping me come closer to deciding on taking the MNF plunge:)

    30. Lots of people seem to have these adorable hats for their dolls so here's my Saemi in hers. :)

    31. eiramleira - Oh my goodness, she looks so adorable. I love that hat on her. Her pose is fantastic, so expressive!

    32. Oh that's a shame, they really do look great in her. I'm assuming they belonged to the faceup artist? Might be worth inquiring about them! What about the gorgeous eyelashes, did you supply them? And if not, do you know the brand of eyelashes that the faceup artist used. I really, really like them.

    33. @Wovenflame - I can defintely ask for you! You'll have your answer tomorrow!!!

    34. Ok so now i've been taken in by the minifees. I usually only have boys dolls and originally wanted a Karsh as my first minifee, but now I really really love to have a Mirwen. So I'm requesting for some Mirwen spam as she is currently the one female minifee that has stolen my soul!

    35. Seconding the Mirwen spam request! I think she might be perfect for one of my characters :) Either her or a Carl girl... anybody have Carl spam too?

    36. blueskiesnorain and eiramleira Congratulations on your Chloes!!!! they both are really pretty!!!!

I have some spam to show you! the doll who had to be my first doll...and she is my fourth...poor girl... my Ryeon has finally arrived and she has a very pretty faceup!!! this is the photo from the spanish artist: Rakeru Sensei: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rakerudolls/with/7609537718/#photo_7609537718

I know it's very "default" but the recent defaults on ryeons from FL that I have seen, have changed a LOt from the past, so...I commissioned it, and the result for me, it's awesome!! *__*

her name is Isolda :) and I can't wait to have her home!!!!

    37. Eldawyn - oh my gosh! Your Ryeon is gorgeous :D

    38. Eldawyn, you are so right, Isolda is awesome! Gosh... So many pretty minifee molds, so little money... And I am also running out of space, gotta sell some fashion dolls. BJD are great!

    42. Thank you all for the lovely compliments on my girl. She really is stunning.

For everyone who has questions about my Chloe's faceup.
The Eyelashes are from Dollmore and the blue eyes are from Enchanted Doll #ED21
      Hope this helps some!

    43. beautiful spam everyone!!! love your Chloe blueskiesnorain! and karrigankat, those twins look so happy and cute together!!

Here's some spam of my Shushu, Autumn, who just came back to me recently from botflybaby's studio and she did a great job! Sorry this pic isn't great, it has been really rainy (finally) so this was taken indoors.

I need to get my dolls more clothes besides just hoodies lol. (and my girl needs some shoes haha)

    44. She is beautiful. Makes me want a Chloe. Who did her faceup? There are so many artists I don't know where to start.

      Thanks.

    45. @Julie P in Florida - Thank You so much.
Her faceup was done by Emy from Eludy's Workshop in Texas.

    46. Your Chloe is beautiful. I had Chloe with the default faceup and sold her. Some of the custom faceups like yours make me want to get one. Will you tell me who did her faceup?

      Thanks.

    47. Ah! That's the wig my Finnian is wearing atm;
Although I put it on a wonk to get it closer to the style I wanted =v=
It is a lot longer in person than the company photos look, hurhur >,< but still cute!

    48. Thank you!

    49. cinfelix - Squeee! Its gorgeous! :fangirl: Now I'm even more excited for it to arrive.

xxSugarxPopzxx - Aww lovely photo of Marcy and her fabulous hat :)

Ravenwolf - Congrats on getting Autumn back, she is looking beautiful!

    50. What color looks best with blue eyes? Like baby blur? Trying to figure out what color to get my Lukas wig.

    51. @dollyb - I personally like black hair, blonde hair or red hair with blue eyes

    52. I ended up being so annoyed that I'm not able to display Prudence, my D.Marcia 24/7 (due to the lack of bodies since my only MNF boy body is currently with a friend) that I made something to show her off nonetheless ;p

Some more info what I used here

    53. Congrats on your pretty Chloe Blueskiesnorain

Marcy is always so cute xxSugarpopzxx

    54. Such pretty pics everyone!:D

Mert's chicline body finally came in for her, and it's perfect. I'm just happy I can start taking pics with her again:)

    55. Thank you :) Her faceup was done by Momochu!

    56. I think you'll find that in real life people with blue eyes have all sorts of different hair colours and textures, so really, choose whichever you prefer. Honestly, I think the faceup influences my hair colour choice more than the eye colour does. Things like the colour of the eyebrows, and the undertone of the blushing can really make a wig colour seem out of place.

What a great solution to the bodyless problem, Roterwolkenvogel. You've created a great display spot for the head. I love it. Maybe I should try to fashion something like that for my floating head. Neither the Luka, nor the Mirwen (in any of her three different character forms) will admit that they are "the floating head". All four characters claim that the others are borrowing THEIR body. But yeah, only one can have the body at a time and that leaves the other head stored in a box.

In answer to the Mirwen request, Candace McMirwen (the business executive), Gunhilda Nerheim (the "old country" one), and Morganna (the mystic/gypsy/hippie one) all clamoured to have their photo presented. I couldn't show any favouritism with them all staring at me like that, so I compiled a photo collage with all three.

Shhhh.....don't tell them, but Morganna is my favourite.

    57. Everyone's dolly spam has been really great. So many pretty dolls. I was talking to a girl in real life to day about BJDs because she was in the hobby too and i so agree that being about on the message boards really does tempt you into more dolls.

I looked at both too after and saw they where both 15.5cm and yeah that was on the Mei body so it is the same one as i have. But looking at the shoulders the MNF shoulders are a full 1cm bigger which sometimes can make a difference.

Thanks so much for the help, i think i will make some stuff and make it on my Mei girl, to get the bust right, but then also test it on Ico my MNF girl to see if it is OK on the shoulders, before i make too many. :)

I am really happy people have been really helpful about the matter though.

Thanks so much, that is so sweet of you to say. I am still pretty new to sewing and limited to what i can do. But i am going to keep going and try and push myself more because i think it is good to be able to make doll clothes. I did take lessons and i think they went a long way because since people have said nice things about my sewing. :)

    58. Thanks on the opinions everyone!

    59. It's a bit late now but finally have some minifee and toys spam.
Mackenzie took center stage for this photo shoot. I guess she needed to catch up to Aislinn some how.[IMG]

    60. I really do love dolls with toys. :) I just think there is something very cute about it! Especially when they are in scale with the dolls. :aheartbea
