Fairyland Minifee MNF Discussion Part 20

Ugh, I just love these two and they're even more mind-bogglingly gorgeous when they're together. Help! I can't handle it! (Also, my friend was wearing that exact same shirt today and I was trying to figure out why it looked so familiar. NOW I KNOW.)

Gosh they are just so pretty. (Out of curiosity, where did you get their jeans? They're gorgeously detailed!)

What! Shush, they're adorable and I can't see how boy love isn't just as popular as the girls (or the boys and girls!)

 

Ummm, I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but there's a post on the Fairyland website about a website illegally casting their dolls and such.

That's a shame, but on the other hand I'm surprised that the re-casters are so slow in stealing Fairyland's amazing dolls, while the knock offs of Soom and Volks have been running rampant for years. Since my husband started his expat assignment in China, we've been amazed at how quick to market the Chinese counterfeiters are!

Fairyland didn't disclose the websites selling the recast dolls, but I wonder whether some of them are on Taobao.. I've seen sellers on Taobao selling Minifees for around 150 USDs and they have got to be recasts..

Seeing all the pretty spam makes me miss my girls so much! I've been terribly neglectful.. :[

 

Ordered my second minifee and payment just got confirmed! I ordered a Woosoo boy! Now to fill my drawers with boys clothes for his size, and even shoes. *A*;; Even to get the perfect wig and eyes. Oooo boy.

 

I'm going to try and get some time to give _______ a faceup tomorrow! I'm leaning toward Ianthe as her name BUT WE SHALL SEEEE! I'm going for a more natural look but we'll see how well that goes since I always seem to do fantasy faceups.

Anyone want to spam some natural-looking faceups? Maybe a bit of "makeup" but nothing super intense!

 

@SmoteyMote Hunter's faceup up is pretty natural, with just a bit of makeup..

 

@SmoteyMote - Nyne has a pretty natural face - her eyeshadow is a little vibrant, but you can't really tell til you're up close.

 

Hey! I've got a question for miyu owners. I believe I have 14mm eyes in my girl but she looks a little like she's unfocused all the time. I like the iris size in her but I don't want to move up to a 16mm and have the huge anime eye thing going on. Any recommendations?

 

Could you share a photo of your Miyu so we can see the problem?

i have 14s in my girl, i find that it helps to have her looking in a particular direction for her to look more focused and not have that derpy look i think miyus can get sometimes if you arent careful! lol

Looking at my girls, I have to say, Chloe's and rheia's have the best lips..imo

 

crazykimochi: Brink looks so awesome! Hubby always teases me about my Calanon, and wonders why his abs are so ripped and his arms aren't as big lol! BTW where did you get your jeans for Brink? My boys jeans are not quite as low and loose so when he does the hands in the pockets or belt loops, his arms bend too much.

Hmm... Fairyland giving a warning about having their dolls copied makes me worried about buying their dolls second hand. Of course this has to happen when I'm looking to buy a mirwen head! I doubt folks on DOA would buy knock offs, but you never know. :\

The recent talk of illegally recasted dolls has scared me into even looking at the market place. I'm still pretty newby, so I wouldn't know what to look for and what not. And I'd love to be able to buy dolllies off the market place. But I didn't know MNFs were being copied. I guess those people can copy any doll they get their hands on :/

 

I think the DoA marketplace is going to be relatively safe, but I'd definitely be a little more cautious with outside markets. Pretty much all my favorite doll companies at this point have posted a notice about illegal recasts and it makes me so sad.

 

If you're looking to be extra cautious, try looking for sellers who offer the original doll box and/or care manual with the doll and have owner photos (with their username written on a piece of paper next to the doll, for example) to prove it. That doesn't really help much if you're only looking to buy parts, though.

 

I have bought a lot and sold quite a bit on the marketplace. Just use caution, check the person's feedback, look for anything that just seems "off". I also look at their prior sales and if I know nothing about that person I may check for any "waiting room" involvement if it's a newer doll.

Nothing is a guarantee though. Many dolls, like Soom's Xmas kits, don't come with original packaging or bags when bought new so there won't be any of that to search for in evidence. Mine only came with paperwork. My best recommendation is to be a cautious buyer. If it looks or feels off, move on.

 

I'd be cautious and stuff. I think I'm most worried about buying a doll and then finding out later it's a recast. I shouldn't even be thinking of buying new dolls when I'm still waiting on my first. Lol. :3

xxSugarxPopzxx - thanks! I'm so happy with her! And I've always wondered the same thing about the Woosoo heads. I've stared and stared at the blank heads trying to see any noticable difference but have come up empty so far

 

The only thing I can think of would be the default faceup being different. Otherwise they seem the same to me.

 

There is a difference between the two. Otherwise there wouldn't be a point for a female or male option.

This is what I've noticed:

Boy Woosoo VE- Longer distance between eyes and lips, thinner lips, rounder jawline, narrower eyes.
Girl Woosoo VE- Shorter distance between eyes and lips, wider and plumper lips, wider and sharper jawline.

MHD Patterns are perfect for MNF as long as you make sure to use her Ellowyn Wilde patterns or patterns for 16" BJD's. Here's Kess in one of the dresses made from an MHD Pattern.

I tried my hand at doing this tonight! My girl is on a large bust body, I think the pattern could use a little bit of tweaking to make it look a little bit more fitting for her, but here it is~
