Fairyland LittleFee Discussion Thread - Part 33

Nov 25, 2018

    1. HAHAHAHAHA
and Wiishu says: Tanks you, bery much! Iz nice to be back.
We've had a rough few years, but with both hips replaced and some newly rearranged innards, I hope to be taking pics and making clothes for the little rascal very soon!

      What a beautiful little crew!

I fear my crew is somewhat less....elegant. Here was a rare occasion when they all came out at the same time. (I promise to stop spamming now!) :D

    2. @perfectionismxx your group are TOO CUTE. I can't wait to find Juris of my own ;-;

@Vindalootoo hehe I love that party photo! I'd love a set of correctly-scaled instruments for a little LTF band.

@SacredMonsoon requested more Sofie so here she is trying on some clothes that came this week!

Lia and Marcie are here for a bit more of a comparison, in case anyone else is interested! Standing up, Marcie is much shorter than Lia, but the height difference is mostly in their arms and legs, so sitting down they are close to the same height!

    4. heh heh....christmas ornaments are your friend! I got the guitar at an SF con years ago.

edit. OMG, I just found this. I'm so hosed. Miniature guitar Musical instrument model Dollhouse | Etsy

    7. Chiwoos are so cute! I've debated getting on for a while, still a bit stuck between the human and the elf eared ones. Does anyone happen to know if the girl elf and boy elf Chiwoo sculpts are actually different or is it just a default face-up difference?

I had my Ade (Cygne) out briefly. Been trying to grow any ground cover in the yard and some clover seed is the only thing that's taken root.

    8. The girl sculpt has slightly... poutier lips? I think a slightly narrower lower face too. I found this comparison on Flickr: Chiwoo Elfl Girl vs. Boy (hope it's ok to post links, I am still very new!).

I love Ade in clover fields ;-; Cygne is such an elegant sculpt.

    9. @lilibet Thank you! She's been great fun.
Oooh, excellent. I've been looking for a comparison. I was staring at the blank sculpts in the a la carte section and squinting and I felt like the lips miiight have been different, and it looks a lot more clear there.

    10. That is what I was doing and then I convinced myself they were just taken at different angles and then I was like.. I KNOW I have seen a comparison before. It was an emotional rollercoaster ;)

    11. The Chiwoo human and elf boys seem to have the same face, just the ears are different. The boy and girl faces are different. Girl elf face on left, boy human face on right.

    12. Color me disappointed.....I just got mine in from DDE, and they don't go on! The hole is the wrong shape. Have they changed the ankle joint? I mean, I can sand it out, there's plenty of material, but I shouldn't have to.

    13. That looks like the Minifee skates. I wish I were at home to compare. I am presently sitting in the hospital waiting room waiting for my mom to get out of surgery. Later today, I will post a picture of what my LTF skates look like with the LTF Leg.

    14. @Vindalootoo I photographed my LittleFee skate. Below is a picture of my LittleFee leg and her Skate. Notice how the magnet takes up most of the top of the skate. Did you order both types of skates or did DDE make a mistake? I also have the Minifee skate at home (I'm at my mother's house now and only brought my MiniFee and of course she needed her skates) and the magnet part is smaller and the circumference of the skate at the top is smaller like the one in your picture. If DDE made the mistake, contact them and they will fix it.

    15. @clochette ooo thank you for the comparison! That helps a lot!

    16. You're welcome!

    17. Whoa! Thank you. I better check and see what I ordered. I certainly thought I was ordering LTF. Never have had a minifee, only the LTF and ChicLines, so I didn't even think of that.

update: My invoice does indeed show LTF. I will contact them as you suggest. Thanks so much!

Message sent! And I just noticed your previous post. Hope your mom's surgery went well. Sending healing thoughts and Wiishu hugs. Wiishu's hugs are pretty potent.

    18. It went well - I’m sure Wiishu’s hugs helped. I am glad you are contacting DDE. According to their website they still have the LTF skates.

    19. Yay! hope she heals fast.

I just heard back from them. They are indeed sending me the right ones, with a return label for the others. I took the liberty of including your photo with the original message and my photo. I'm sure that helped. The thing is, the plastic bag they came in definitely says Littlefee, sooooo...we get to growl at Fairyland...for about two seconds. :D

    20. I made jeans for my LittleFee twins. Ukko-Pekka and Urho-poika look very pleased.

    21. The jeans are really nice! I have been looking for a pattern like that. I have attempted to reduce some that were made for other size dolls but so far have not been successful. Did you make the pattern yourself or could you tell me where you got it?

    22. They do indeed! Nice fit!

    23. I made the pattern by modifying a basic simple pants pattern. Reducing a pattern made for a larger doll seldom works well as the body proportions of the dolls differ. If the original pattern includes seam allowances, the result is even more off as the width of the seam allowances gets changed, too. I think my original pants pattern came from Rosemarie Ionker's book "Fashions for Small Dolls" though I may have modified even that (I don't remember if the original pattern was a perfect fit or not). Before I use any ready made pattern I remove the seam allowances to get the actual pattern shape so that the needed modifications are easier to make when the exact size of the garment can be more easily seen. I add the seam allowances later when I cut the fabric.

    24. Ukko-Pekka and Urho-poika are so adorable ^___^ those pants are very handsome on them.

I'm a little down right now since I found the perfect Littlefee shell for a character I was toying with and the seller backed out after payment was already in their possession for a while. The tracking number was supposed to be sent but instead I got different news. It upsets me knowing I passed up on several others that already sold by now just to not be able to bring this one home either. I know, this too shall pass, but for now it's pretty sad.

Cheer up spam of all your cutie pies is much appreciated~!

    25. I also remove seam allowances before changing patterns. And I do know about the proportion issue but when I really want a certain garment and I can’t find a pattern I sometimes still try and start with something. I have heard of the book you mentioned. Is it worth buying? Yesterday I did manage to make jeans that fit but they didn’t look as nice as yours did. I really wish there were more patterns out there for LittleFee.

    26. I like Rosemarie Ionker's book, I have used it a lot. It has basic patterns for several sizes of small dolls, so I can usually find something that is close if not perfect, and when one has basic patterns, they can be modified for different effects. There are not much detailed instructions in the book, but I have found the patterns useful.

    27. Thanks, I think I will check it out.

    28. What I want to know is how you do the double stitch. Is that a double needle? I think my machine has the capability, but I've never tried it. And your top stitching is so close to the edge. I finally started topstitching with tissue paper underneath, but that's not really optimal. The spacing on Wiishu's first pair seems so huge now!

    29. I don't have a double needle. I just do the second row very close to the first. I guess one just needs a lot of practice.

    30. I've never actually tried it. And, yeah, it's gotten better. These were the first real piece of clothing I made for him. First non-human sized thing I'd ever made. I wasn't clever enough to shorten the stitch. :D I'd never made pockets, period, and had to figure out three different types! A big part of the fun for me is figuring out the patterns. I switched images when I found this one that shows front and back.

That's beyond unethical. Was that someone here on DoA?

    31. It wasn't, thankfully. It was a purchase through a social media platform. I'm starting to get over it and regrouping my thoughts. Something better will come along I'm sure.

I love the little pockets on that pair of pants though o__o pretty awesome for a first try. Someday I'll be able to sew together something like that as well! You all inspire me so much.

    32. You know, after getting a second hand doll for backup, I've decided that for the price difference, which is usually not much, I'd rather go with new resin and order right from the company anyway. Besides, it give the creators the money. I really don't understand the mentality that thinks an older, used doll is worth as much or more than a new one. I just ordered a new backup for Wiishu, whose original body is just displaying his emperor outfit and the second hand one is getting pretty fragile. He works HARD. :D

Thank you. I got pretty ambitious on that project, but I used to make all my own clothing, so I've had a lot of practice. I just, for some reason, had never made pockets. It was for the now-defunct Project Runway that used to be here. All those threads seem to have fallen by the wayside, but here is the rest of the outfit.

I wanted to do cargo pants with detatchable bottom (i.e. they could be shorts) but I just couldn't find a zipper or velcro that didn't make the leg too stiff. I ended up with three different types of pockets. the little front ones he's got his hand in, an "expandable one" the big one below it which has a pleat in it, and then little back pockets, also with button flaps. All I did was look at my own pants and see how they were constructed.

The hardest thing about sewing is getting past the "it's magic" stage of thinking. There are a few tricks to learn, for which you'll find all kinds of help here and on you tube, but it's really great fun. It's been a huge part of my Fun with Wiishu.

    33. DDE has a LittleFee boy in stock right now. You'd have to buy the whole doll but I think that's how it always is. I agree with you about the 2nd hand dolls. I will buy them if it is for a good price or if it is something I need sooner rather than wait. (The wait seems to be 5-6 months right now.)

    34. Thank you! I think it's a Pong, which is darling, but I'm avoiding adding new personalities to the household! :D I bit the bullet just the other day and ordered another Shiwoo through DDE. I want to make Wiishu some alt-faces...a singing face, a smiling face at a bare minimum, so having spare Shiwoo faceplates will be useful.

I've got some new Granado kids coming in...shells for the main characters from my first novel...long time ago now, but the only ones I want to shell. They'll keep me plenty busy!

    35. Hello everyone!
I've been out of the hobby for a while but recently returned and bought Rabi! I finally sewed the poor girl a dress, with inspiration from some Blythe patterns. She's really cute and I'm hoping to make many more outfits for her. I look forward to seeing all your dolls too! :D

    38. @WindGuardKT She's so cute ^__^ love the dress you made. Good job.

I agree that straight from the company is an option but I'll need to save up for another year. The price difference between new and used is about € 300 due to customs and taxes here.

I'm not complaining though. Hard work earns the goodies~ ^__^

    40. @spih I can't believe how incredible those jeans are. You must have so much patience and practise!

@WindGuardKT your Rabi is SO beautiful ;-; That is the sculpt I want most now, but I am hoping for a tan event to coincide with purchase... :D The dress you made is so gorgeous, I love all the beading and detail!

    44. These are super cute. I've got some tennies that are just a mm too short for his foot to go in, and I thought of filling it with, like epoxy resin, pressing the foot in with a magnet, and making it into a "foot." Do you think that would work with these?

      Thankyou! She looks very snazzy!

    46. Very pretty girl!

    47. Oh, Cookie's body blushing makes me want to body blush my girls! Her outfit is so amazing and detailed.

I bought a Halloween 17 face this week and I can't decide how I want to do her faceup.. she was such an impulse buy, and now I need a body/headback too oh no. But I couldn't resist!

    48. Please excuse my double-post, but @ was kind enough to sell me a body for my Halloween and I need to do her faceup etc but as soon as I put her face on her body a whole personality popped out and I had to share her!

Do you see it?? I am waiting a couple more days to start her faceup because... the Leah I ordered from DDE in DECEMBER should be arriving tomorrow! I cannot contain myself! I have a FLAL face to paint (although I also still need a body for her...) too so it should be a creative week next week ^^

    50. I have the Halloween 17 face plate too with my Rendia, that is still blank, may paint it once this heat and humidity goes away. The sealant won't take in this weather.

    51. I'm heavily considering getting my first Fairyland doll, a Littlefee Soo Dark Elf, and would love to see any owner pics to help me decide!! :XD: She's sitting in my cart on DDE, and will likely sit in it for several days before I decide.
