Fairyland LittleFee Discussion Thread - Part 33

Nov 25, 2018

    1. @JinCIncy Thank you! And your Littlefees are so CUTE! Great photo!

@vermont chick Thanks for the giggle! Actually, my vision is average, but I wear 2X magnifiers to work on my knitting.

Recently, I was wearing those magnifiers and working on that afghan when a moth flew straight at me! With those glasses, it looked like a bat! I told hubby he oughta be grateful I'm not a screamer!

    2. They're adorable! Quite the fine looking pair, and their little pet is very cute.

    5. Okay, who is ordering the new LTF?

I found it interesting that they tied the event plate to the fullset dolls, but I kind of wish they'd done the same vampire face/non vampire face gift plate option like they did with the larger girl.

    6. I couldn't resist and put her on order, so she'll be my first LTF. When I was going over the order before checking out, I noticed that the Halloween face wasn't included... Good thing I noticed or it would be completely annoying to change it.

There should be a bigger notice because I feel there will be people who order the basic and expect to also receive the event face.

    7. I may be waiting on the designer complete package now, including all the optional painting and such...

    8. Congrats on everyone getting the new little one! I love her fullset. So cute.

My Rose is excited for Halloween. I can't wait either. :P

    9. Thought I'd join again as I just got a tan LTF gal. Her name is Gia...

    11. TY she's a modded Cygne :D

    12. I couldn't resist little Hwayu. She's really adorable and will be my first littlefee!

      • x 1
    13. Lol, another "Hwauy will be my first LTF" here! She is so cute and the fullset is really a bargain for all that you get.
I may eventually hybrid her onto a slightly taller body as I would like her to look a little older than my other 26ish cm dolls.

I knew I would break down and buy a LTF eventually, but I thought it would be a tan DES if they ever offered her in that color again. Surprise vampire elf!

    14. Not sure if this is the right place for posting it, but I'm looking into a dollhouse for my LittleFee and I'm not sure what scale she would technically be? I know LittleFee is considered a 1/6 doll, so I'd look for a 1:6 scale dollhouse, right?

      • x 15
    15. Yes, your LittleFee is a 1/6th sized doll, albeit a little bit smaller than the "standard" YoSD.

I've ordered some 1/6th size toys for Ichi-chan off of etsy. They need to be painted still, but they're great! Ichi-chan loves his new toys.:3nodding:

    16. @BlueDragonfly A standard 1/6 scale dollhouse is designed for dolls like Barbie. The 1/6 scale YO SD type dolls are really not 1/6 scale. A house will depend on how you view your doll. If it’s a toddler or small child it would be closer to 1/3 scale.

    17. The same seller that I bought Ichi-chan's toys from, DreamStudioDollHouse also makes and sells furniture, dioramas and more, all specifically made for BJDs (and pullips and the like). So does WoodenTalesWorkshop.

IIRC, I did a search for "YoSD BJD furniture" to find them. You can get them premade and painted, or as a DIY kit where you can glue it and paint/stain it yourself. Ichi-chan's toys were super easy to put together, and they give you instructions as to how. Etsy is great for things you can't find on DoA for BJDs, I'm there all the time getting clothes and things for my Crew. Both shops are in Russia, so it took quite a while for them to arrive to me here in the US because of COVID, but I'm patient.

Here's a pic from when I first put them together and the glue dried. Ichi-chan was thrilled to finally have some toys!

I plan on eventually getting him more toys and a bed, I just don't know where yet in my own tiny house I would put the bed where the cats can't get to it! :sweat :kitty2:lol:

    18. It's hard enough finding a 1/6 scale, I doubt I'll find anything 1/3. That's alright though, I've decided to skip on dollhouses for now. The only 1/6 I see are either massive dollhouses with several floors, or plastic pink Barbie ones.

What I'd really like to do is recreate a forest diorama like Fairyland did for Cygne (witch), but it's been difficult finding detailed little plants like they used.

    19. I think that Fairyland simply used plastic plants that can be found at any craft store.

As a matter of fact, that's a great idea, me hitting the local Joann Fabrics for stuff for a diorama! Hmmm...maybe I'll make that my next big project. :evilplot:;)

      Ryu

    20. Yeah, I suppose she would look odd next to Barbie scale furniture. Do you think 1/3 scale would conflict with 1/4 scale? Or would they be close enough in scale that either could work?

I'd already checked out Joann's site, but it's mostly terrain stuff (like fake moss). Tiny scale trees for train sets. I scoured the Internet for days and didn't find anything close enough to that scale and level of detail. Man, those plants are just so nice!

    21. @BlueDragonfly Rather than a house, I would suggest one or more room boxes. You can use a shipping box or make one out of cardboard to see what size you like and have room for. You may be able to choose accessories like windows from multiple scales. Etsy is a good place to look for the odd things we need for our dolls. There may also be help in the workshop section!

    23. @BlueDragonfly Did JoAnn's floral department have nothing you liked? JoAnn's and other stores probably have a lot more in their stores than online. I miss shopping there in person but maybe next year... *sigh*
I find scale to be an odd thing. Some items will work for both 1/3 and 1/4 scale: rugs, books, artwork, etc., because there's no set size for these things. Some furniture can work for multiple scales if they're simple. Some dining tables can become coffee tables or footstools, for example. You decide what looks good to you.
I agree with @nancy_schroeder_ca on room boxes over dollhouses. Room boxes give me the height I prefer and they're easier to store and move around at these larger scales. Room boxes that fold up for storage would be the best!
      Good Hunting!

    24. That is a good point, I didn't go to one in person. I've been trying to keep with quarantine but I think I'll nip in to my local JoAnn's at some point, to see if they have anything I can work with.

Room boxes do sound good, a dollhouse in that scale would just be huge. I've been looking for a nice windowed room box but so far I just see them in 1/6. I also want to do some kind of platform full of plants and some driftwood and pebbles for a forest scene.

    25. Belachix on Etsy has room boxes with window cutouts. They also make all kinds of props in 1:6, 1:4 (MNF), and 1:3 size. I also like their wigs.

    26. Whoa, thank you!

    27. My Cygne came today!

I knew LittleFee was about 9.9" but I really couldn't imagine the size until I got her, I was surprised how big LittleFees are. It's nice to finally get her, though, because I can start planning scale around her easier. I made the plants days prior with pieces of fake plants from JoAnn's with a foam base.

Eventually I'll get a bjd pet cat or two. The more kitties the merrier! I'd like to make a full on forest diorama but it might take a while, I have to research the type of base to use, and size, which I may not have room for. For now have some fake plants on a dresser.

Question: How in the world do you get the wig to stay on? My PukiFee never gave me as much trouble, bu then I think I had wig caps for her. I'm using the default FairyLand wig (6-7inch). It's hard to get on all the way and pops right off if I touch it in the slightest. The magnet horns have helped keep it slightly in place but I still can't touch the hair at all without the horns popping off and wig sliding off.

    28. I use a silicon wigcap that I got from...somewhere. Its been a while since I ordered it so I don't remember where it came from. :sorry

Congrats of your new Cygne! :D

      Ryu

    29. Etsy and eBay both have multiple sizes of silicone wig caps for bjds. Other people glue hook and loop tape to the bjd's wig and head. Some people use double-sticky tape. The silicone wig caps can also keep faceplates in place (which helps me a lot).

    30. I have hook and loop tape/Velcro for my larger dolls that all have headcaps. I have the silicon cap for Ichi-chan, my one and only LTF.

I'm not sure that Velcro alone will work for Ichi-chan, especially since he has a faceplate instead of a headcap. Does Velcro alone work for LTF heads? How would you position it so it doesn't interfere with their faceup?

      Ryu

    31. Thank you for the advice, I went ahead and ordered a silicone wig cap, size 6-7 inches.

    32. Just from personal experience, I adore my wig caps but they will get dirty over time. If you feel like they aren’t sitting well or keep slipping rinse them in warm water with really mild soap and dry them really well. They’ll be good as new. I have some that are 7+ years old at this point.

      • x 1
    33. Oh, that's great to know! I rarely take Ichi-chan's wig off, so hopefully it won't get very dirty.

      Ryu

    34. Well, turns out Hwayu might not be my first LTF after all! I just bought a second hand DES. I have been wanting to get one.. and I was kinda holding out to see if FL was ever going to offer her again... and kinda hoping for tan too... but since I got a big DES in tan.. and this WS little one was such a good bargain, I decided to jump on her.
Still waffling on her name. I think I have it narrowed down to two, so we will see when she gets here. :)

    35. *confused screaming*

I bought a silicone wig cap, and that fits perfectly. But when I try to place the wig, it doesn't want to stay on right, and gets this air bubble on the top of the head, between the wig and cap. The wig kind of poofs out from the head, but at least the horns are there to put it back on track. The magnets aren't very strong through the wig, though. This is a doll to handle carefully. Her hair is already frizzy from my constant struggles.

    36. Congrats on both! I own a tan LTF DES and she is the cutest. I got her secondhand end of 2013/beginning of 2014. Her tan is a little faded on the exposed parts (her eyebrows literally protected the resin from mellowing under the face up, most entertaining discovery when I repainted her last). Let me know if you'd like a picture of Bonnie (my DES)!

    37. I love my DES girl, she's a NS version. She's so much more mature looking than most LTFs. My girl's name is Morgan.

I've never used wig caps, but I don't tend to use the FL wigs. You can use larger rubber bands around the head as well, or those rubber bracelets, just be careful not to use a dark color so that it doesn't stain the wig cap.

    38. I'd love to see all these DES dolls! I have an SD sized one, but I'm interested to see if they have the same pointed little chin that my Noriko has. Only one LTF, only one LTF.... :sweat

    39. The LTF version may be my favorite version of DES.
I keep thinking of picking one up but haven’t yet.

    40. DES pics or it didn't happen! ;) Yes, this is a call out to see DES pics with their cute little pointed chins! :kitty2

      Ryu

    41. I'd love to see photos! I was bummed when I missed out on getting a LTF DES in tan, but since I was able to get her in a big size, it opened the doors wide for me to get any color for my LTF.

    42. My Morgan is an NS girl from the first release, but here she is. I also have an SD sized DES, Aubree, who was one of my first BJDs, so I was thrilled they made a LTF version.

    43. So pretty!
I am trying to figure out what eyes and wig to get for mine. I know FL heads run small. Would a 6-7 work, or should I get a 5-6?

    44. Thank you! All of my LTFs wear a 6-7 wig, Morgan's wig is a Kemper wig in 6-7. Generally, I use 5-6 for PKF sized kids.

    45. Thank you! I was wondering since the FL MNFs and my current tinies use 6-7s.
I just have to wait until tomorrow to pay for shipping (coupon on the proxy goes into effect and I can save a little if I wait one more day).

    46. Yes, that's the case, 6-7 fit many slim MSD like MNF and some realistically proportioned larger dolls as well as YoSD/LTFs. The heads on many smaller dolls tend to be larger scale-wise to their bodies compared to MSD size and up.

    47. OMG @clochette, Morgan is So. Freakin' Cute! :D Any more DESes out there?:kitty1

Only one LTF, Ryu, you promised yourself...only one LTF...only one LTF...only one LTF!!! :love:whee::sweat:eusa_naug:chomp:

      Ryu

    48. I do love a more mature looking LTF... though some people can find it a little more freaky...

    49. Are those MNF heads? I was about to go to bed and I see this and my brain is torn between creeped out and that is adorable.

    50. Nope, they're LittleFee Breakaways. Officially they were known as "L-line" heads, as they were designed to be hybrided onto the Chicline bodies as well as the LTF - and it's one of the reasons that they look so much older than normal LTF. In the end there were only 2 L-line heads, the BA and the Ruru, but they're exactly the same as a normal LTF head, and if you have the right headback you can hybrid any of the LTF faceplates onto the Chicline bodies.

They'd actually be proud to creep someone out, so I wouldn't worry!

Here's a shot of them with my Scar MNF to give context:

    51. I forgot about those Chicline heads! That is neat!

I just got notification that my DES will be here on Friday! She will be my first full FL doll. :)

      • x 2
    52. @Ryuichi Sakuma 13 Thanks!

@Tonboko - it's not hard to do, they were event heads with the Chicline release, so not even really associated with the LTF.

    53. I tend to favor the more mature looking kids, but I don't have a Breakaway. Chloe and Lishe are also among my favorites.

Thank you so much! I wish you luck on your quest to only have one LTF, may you succeed where I have failed. :D

      • x 1
    54. I think the only reason I have only one LTF is because I don't know where I would put any others I'd get! Poor Ichi-chan is currently sitting in his chair on the kitchen table until I figure out where he's going to go where I can see him regularly.:sweat

The problems of having a tiny house....
      :nowords::sweat*_*

      Ryu

    55. I don't have a Chloe, but I do have a Lishe (or two), and some Els.
But I agree, I'm not really a fan of most of the younger looking sculpts, they just don't appeal.

I was looking for a photo that would show my other LTF... but couldn't find one that included all of them. [55th note to self - take more photos!] - Here's three of my other LTF, one of my Els is missing from this shot (not sure why!)
