Fairyland LittleFee Discussion Thread - Part 28

Aug 13, 2014

1. Thank you so much! n_n

2. I think you can do more with faceup if you want a doll to look surprised - smaller eyes can occasionally make them look a bit more "slapped in the face with wet fish" than surprised. The other thing is the actual choice of the sculpt - that can have a big affect on it. Some of them have larger eyes than others and that can help with getting them to look surprised.

For the most part my LTF wear their default eyes (14mms), and admittedly I go for the older looking sculpts, (I have two Lishes and two Els plus these three). But I don't find that 14mms makes them look particularly "child-like" at all...

3. 14mm eyes can easily go either way; your boys look fantastically mature, TeaPartyRevolution! Style and faceup definitely contribute a lot to that look, too.

I personally think 12mm definitely lean more mature, and 16mm are definitely childish, but 14mm are flexible in their look. This boy's 16mm eyes are never going to look mature, though:

4. I like the really childish look so tend to go for 14mm eyes. I love them looking like they're about 4-6 years old.

5. All of mine have 12mm apart from Mio's premium eyes.

6. Thank you so much guys for the tips and pictures! Looks like I may get two pairs of the same colour in 12mm and 14mm to test and for the fact that I want my little girl to have the surprised look at times and on other times just a more natural surprised look xD lol! Don't want to reveal too much detail until its time to 'reveal' her :P

Again, many many thanks to everyone!

7. Yep, there really are a lot of factors in determining a doll's "look" so that sounds like trial and error will be the best solution for you since you have a specific look in mind. ;) I hope you achieve it!

8. It sometimes takes me several changes before I get the look I want, so I think you have the right idea.

9. Interesting to see how old you think they are...
To me, Littlefees are more 7-8ish, but I guess it also depends on the sculpt, some are more childish than others.
Ante, Bisou and Leah seem very childish to me whereas Chloe and Mio seem older.

About eyes, I prefer realistic looking eyes, with a lot of white (sclera) so I've just ordered 4 pairs of Eyeco 13/12mm eyes, I hope I haven't made a mistake, we'll see !

So far, Maddie wears some eyes a friend has lent me (I would say 12mm but my friend wasn't sure) and they don't fit very well, there is a gap between the eye and the socket, I hope the Eyecos will fit better.

Some Maddie pictures with winter clothes in the garden :

10. age seems to depend on the other dolls you have too. if they are relating to sds then they definitely fit better as 4-5ish. but if you have pukifees as your toddlers or preschoolers and msds as the adults then littlefees tend to get bumped older as 7-8 or even tweens.

11. My son is 8 and they look younger than he does, I think because of the way I style them too! I don't have any pukifees or smaller dolls either my ltfs are young to me. But I agree the Chloe and Mio sculpts do seem older! :)

Liloo, my Luna definitely seems older than my Ante, Sadie, though:

12. I apologize for not having any Halloween pictures but we don't celebrate it over here. Instead my Leah is here to show you that princesses don't always dream of pink stuff and glitter. She's a tough girl, you know~

Really contemplating turning her into a cute tomboy but then again I'd need another prissy Littlefee to make up for it... Could a Tan Littlefee be turned prissy? o__O;

13. Effie and Cordelia

14. Love the coat and hat Maddie is wearing. Where did you get it?

15. Thanks for understanding. Normally I don't say anything negative, and personally I liked what Vindalootoo did with his lips more than the default.
Bluemoonjules: your doll is going to be lovely in your hands, they always are. Same faceup but different posing, personality comes out, different lighting... I look forward to seeing your posts of him.
DSF: Lol, although I can be diplomatic at times, "politically correct" is not one of my strong suits. Now, when somebody owns something I don't care for, I do keep my lips shut, or comment positively on some aspect.

ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really need some good pics of Ramune' on her motorbike, although she won't be in this thread (off topic).
And, well, while I got Halloween pics of Lexi in a dress fabric that's very similar elsewhere here, getting them uploaded and then posted....

16. Sorry they're not all Littlefee but Happy Halloween from my Girls!

17. Loving all the Halloween spam! And joining in on it, too; pumpkins are close enough, right? :)

Couldn't find it on the Volks website, though.

Happy Halloween everyone, your pictures are great, I'm so scared !!!:wiggle*_*

Brought my kiddo to work with me today, and thought I'd share. She seems to be plotting something over the morning coffee.

20. Mwahhhahhaa these Littlefees are tricksy

21. i'm sure it could it would all depend on the hair and makeup. i have two ns elf antes and one is a real tomboy and the other my girlygirl. neither planned oddly enough it's just the way they came out once i finished their faces and they picked their eyes and wigs. i'm thinking of getting a tan pipi to see if i can make a girly twin for my rough and tumble eilidh :)

great halloween pics by the way. we don't do much about halloween either at our house. we live semi rural so there aren't a lot of kids that come round.

22. Hey guys! Just dropping in to say Happy Halloween and share a picture of Fable (and Huck) in her Halloween costume. When I told her she couldn't be a Christmas present, she went with the next closest thing: a "Sugar Plum Fairy Mouse Princess".
[IMG]Happy Halloween! by h a l c y o n, on Flickr

23. They look both adorable! Only poor Huck will get no treats, when he dresses up as a bear with no arms... ;)

24. Awwwwww cuteness

25. I ordered two tan Pukifees and will get the Littlefee Halloween faceplate with them, I really love that face :)

26. Me too, but 2 tan LTFs...also getting the little weird PKF...

27. Dropping in to wish everyone a Happy Hallowe'en between trips to the door to give out candy!

28. I can finally post in this thread!
I've been lurking here for months and just adore all your ltf. I have finally given in and ordered an Ante Elf in tan. So excited! :dance

I'm getting little derp pkf too, got to admit it's growing on me the more I look at it.

29. Welcome to the crazy land of Littlefรฉes....and yay, another tan Ante Elf (I have one on order too). It will be so much fun seeing what everyone makes of them.

Wovenflame, they look amazing.

Got some Dollheart boy clothes in the mail yesterday, bought part of an outfit from the MP...I.guess the new LTF faceplate is going to be a boy, then....he can share outfits with pongpong2. Now I need another LTF body...this is how the madness goes!

30. Atleast two Littlefee Tan Ante Elf on order? I can't wait to see the pictures you will be sharing in the future. I'm a real sucker for Ante. Did any of you order them with the default face-up?

Unfortunately my wallet wouldn't allow me to participate in this event, haha~ I look forward to all of your orders though. No spam from me today but I wish everyone a lovely Halloween in any case~

31. I ordered my tan Ante Elf with the default faceup. I think she looks great, and am really looking forward to having her join my little family.

32. I am not sure if I will end up ordering another tan Littlefee but I will order it seperately in case I will get one because then I will also get the derpy Pukifee faceplate :) Do you think Rose would look good in tan?

33. I can't wait to see her. I've seen some photo's on Flickr of the default face-up on tan but not with a wig or clothing. It would sure help to plan characters to see more of her. Congratulations on the order by the way~

Do you think Fairyland will offer tan Littlefee again next year or would that be a bit soon?

34. Josie is a tan Ante Elf with default faceup but I'm sure FL missed a layer or two on her lips so she's probably not the best example:

35. I'd expect Fairyland to do a tan event once a year, they are super successful.

My tan Ante Elf is still nekkid... :sweat

Josie is such a cute little girl. Pink seems to suit the tan skin very well. Might I also add I'm a fan of your little Elly. I keep getting torn between the Littlefee and Pukifee Ante. They both have pointy eared Ante~ ?
Lil Spark

What a beautiful face-up, did you create it? She's gorgeous even nekkid, haha~ I really do hope their tan event will return, even though I seem to fancy normal skin over tan. I really want to own one tan girl/boy to see how it looks in real life and I look forward to seeing how different they are to photograph and things like that...

37. My tan Ante Elf will have a custom face up. Her wig arrived today...white mohair.

38. I've ordered mine with the default faceup. I get terrified sending my girls off in the post and I figured I'd be doubly troubled sending off a tan head lol. I quite like the default for Ante. She might not keep it forever but I'll be happy with it for a while.
Plus I imagine it will be a long wait with the tan event and I'm already excited to get her. DDE said 14-26 weeks, that's 6 months ... :/

39. Plotting with a Dalek? That's a scary thought.

Nekked in clothes, but that faceup is gorgeous!

40. lilspark:what Darkwind said! Wheee!

Re: eye size: I go with 14 since that's the default and what the eyesocket is designed for. It works well in the Shiwoo and El sculpts. No real experience with the others. The main thing to keep in mind is that how you position the eyes and the angle of the head and camera can make a world of difference. In general, the more white that shows on top, the more surprised the look. Also, when startled, humans tend to either throw their head up or angle to the side. And remember to use that amazing body language of the LTFs! That will do as much or more than eye size for you. Case in point here...tho the deliberate flash overexposure also played a factor: http://www.janefancher.com/HarmoniesOfTheNet/wp-content/gallery/christmas1/xmas-10a.jpg (This is after he discovers his changes on the name tags have made all the prezzies FROM him rather than TO him. :D)

Now that Halloween is over, Wiishu has shed his wings and ears and wants to show off his new jumpsuit.

41. he looks very smart in that outfit!

after dithering a lot 'cause i got my tan 'fees last time and kind of wanted another girl but wasn't sure which sculpt i wanted, i remembered that last time i got a sleeping face with my tan ante, planning to get the eyes modded open. but i liked the girl i had and haven't got around to sending the extra face for modding, plus i hate having floating faces/heads, so i ordered another tan ante and this time i'm just going to steal the body for my modded girl. i'll try and get her done while i'm waiting, and just have to hope the tans match the last round!.....plus figure out what do do with the new face that's coming

42. All those cute halloween outfits, I love em! Sadly we don't really do Halloween in my country, such a shame as it's so much fun.

Some spam of Hanna, as we were enjoying the sun today!

43. We went to a local doll show yesterday and I took Violet (Ante elf). Many of the dealers and other attendees really enjoy seeing the ABJDs although I thought one of the dealers had lost her mind when she gasped loudly and grabbed at Violet's arm as I carried her cradled in the crook of my elbow. I reacted instinctively and put my hand over my doll - and I know I momentarily scowled at the woman, but she didn't seem to notice. :doh This dealer had in-box Barbies so I'm certain she knew better.

There were a couple of dealers who had some ABJD as well as some American ones, but no Fairylands. And, sadly, no clothing that fit my darling Violet. The dresses wide enough were for 8" dolls and the ones for 10" dolls were either too skinny, even for her slender body, or way too big. My PKF made out with a couple of new dresses, though - even if she wasn't there. LOL

44. Kirahfaye: I cannot imagine someone grabbing my doll. (I am now a proud mummy of a Littlefee Ante, and I wouldn't want anyone touching her without permission.) I think I would have accidentally punched them by reflex.
Too bad you couldn't find any clothes. I am attempting to make my doll something to wear, but my sewing skills are pretty non existent! I am trying however, and maybe one day she will look decent.

45. Gosh, people are so weird

46. Me neither!

I've noticed that while ltf's can wear 12" doll clothes like Ken and GI Joe, I have serious misgivings about Barbie clothes fitting. The waists just look too small. As for sewing, well my skills are down there too ;) but I'll keep trying. We should be able to at least make simple things, right? And since I may be getting into cosplaying now, well, practice on the littles first so I don't waste too much fabric on my mistakes.

47. Barbie's clothes certainly don't fit. Ken has totally different proportions though, that's why his clothes do fit. Exept trousers. Those even don't really fit Kens. Or is there soemone out there who likes going their jeans down the butt once you sit down?

48. if the styles were appropriate you could always length the skirt by sewing lace on the hem (or gluing it on with fabric glue if you don't sew ;)) otherwise sometimes you can do what real moms do when clothes start getting to short and turn them into tunics to wear with leggings.

the only barbie clothes i have ever got to fit were a couple of sleeveless knit tees, which were supposed to be a bit looser so they made decent cropped tops for summer. the set did come with a little jean skirt that fit too as a mini skirt. they were actually to fit a barbie clone so maybe that's why they weren't as skimpy? i found them on a clearance rack at a specialty store for $5 a set so took a chance on them. some of the pieces went to my asella rhubarbe, some to my 'fees, and the rest that didn't fit to goodwill.

i agree on the ken stuff though. i've found some really cute knit tops when i can get the sets cheap enough, but the pants and shoes always end up in the goodwill box.
