Fairyland LittleFee Discussion Thread - Part 28

So are you planning a Saiyuki Son Goku with that faceplate?

 

What is one of those?

 

This is the first one I've ever heard of or been to, but it won't be my last!

 

We have a large Doll Show twice a year at a nearby convention center (I got to meet OT doll creator Berdine Creedy last time and Robert Tonner was there a couple of years ago). It's mostly geared toward non-ABJD collectors, but there are often lots interterchangable clothing, accessories and furnishings. Our next one is this coming weekend and members of my local doll group always meet up for it. It's fun to walk around with ABJDs on our arms because so many of the sellers and collectors have never seen them before and we get to be embassadors for our hobby.

 

Noooooo . . . . . I NEED a tan Ante . . and a tan Pippi girl and a tan PKF Ante and a tan MNF Celine and . . . . . I don't have any money right now.

Hi everyone I am new to DoA~
Im planning to get a Pukifée Mio but LittleFée Pong ver 2 full set just pop out and I fell in love with him... I am not sure if its a wise idea to get two at the same time haha...(since I never own any actual bjds, i have a dal and pullip)

Just a opinion question though, for the halloween event gifts, which gift would you go for (choice a-d) if you have a (let's say)$900 order?

 

If you have the budget for it, I would say get both dolls! If you don't like one (or both) you can always sell them later without too much problem usually! I love both sizes so I can't help you much there.

As for the gifts - I'm not much of a fan of any of them. If you plan on getting a tan skin doll, remember that the faceplates are not in tan and you can't purchase littlefee and pukifee bodies from fairyland so you'd have to get another doll and maybe sell the faceplate (unless someone is selling just the body on the marketplace or something). The devil wings are pretty cool so that would be my choice. I wouldn't go with the minifee head if you're not getting a minifee unless you think you might and/or you really like the face sculpt!

 

I'd go for wings, if you don't plan on keeping any of them. They seem the most popular

 

I ordered a tan Ante Elf from DDE and a tan Fullset Pongpong 2 from FL. That enabled me to get the LTF and PKF plates. I like the LTF one and the PKF might end up being a naughty pixie or something. I was not interested in the wings for either the pongpong or event gift, though I now know someone I could have split with!

The art complete is so expensive, even just for the wings =_= Hope I won't regret, seeing blank wings/shoe parts/mask when I open the parcel >_> (I don't know how to do faceups)

 

That's great! Thanks so much! I was considering putting the LTF Nanuri 13 faceplate on the LTFB body. I'll have to think about whether I think it's young enough.

I know! I would love that LTF event head on a LTFB body. Or in general just love to have that LTF event head. It's really the only Halloween event head I am partial to.

 

My littlefee Chloe finally came home!!!
Ofcourse she was delivered in the week that I was away *grumble grumble* but today I finally had a chance to open her up with my best friend. Alot of squeeing happened.

I ordered her directly from Fairyland on the 3rd of July, and she was delivered on the 23rd of October. The wig she's wearing is from Fairyland too. It is exactly the same colour as the product picture online, I was quite impressed by that.

So jealous of all these new orders :3 I wish I could have participated in the event but alas a certain big girl is holding all of my funds hostage at Fairyland.

I hope they'll have another tan event next year that actually includes tan hands as well...

 

Painting the resin bits should be easy enough with acrylics if you keep it simple.

Little bit concerned about the comment re the wings. You know you can't get them painted separately don't you? The $45 is an extra cost for the wings themselves, they are not part of the fullset.

 

Littlefee are so cute! I have a littlefee Ante, normal skin. I really like her but I can't bond with her Maybe when she gets a new face-up, that's the only thing I can try..

 

Hi again [MENTION=67839]adubois[/MENTION] ! Ante's are my fav sculpt for littlefee I think they're awesome. I hope in time you do bond with her. I have a Luna with a default face up and a Ante with a custom face up and I love them equally!

 

Crazydolleyes They are very cute! Both face-ups suits well, but I think Ante's face-up is more realistic. They have such cute clothes too!

 

I agree Ante is definitely more realistic, but my Luna looks like a little rascal!

Their clothes are made by a lady who is local to me. They suit littlefees really well. I'll be buying more for them soon I think!

 

FAR more attractive, I say. Apologies to anyone who favors the FL faceup, but I found it repulsive. What Vin's done is more appealing, in my ever so humble opinion. Not that I'm in the market...

Yes, a custom faceup can change a lot, look at the Ante faceplate that I just bought, how different from the stock makeup !

I think using the word repulsive is a bit extreme. I have seen quite a few custom face ups I could apply that adjective to, but I keep it to myself.

Each to their own, I say.

I understand where both Darkwind and Bluemoonjules are coming from. English is a funny language. In all fairness, I think Darkwind was speaking of a personal reaction, not an absolute judgement on the faceup. I had a similar reaction...just a personal disturbing gut feeling, which is why I wanted to see what the actual sculpt looked like. I felt the makeup was seriously fighting the actual shape of the sculpt. Someone else mentioned they wondered what it would look like with a different faceup, hence my post. I didn't mean to upset anyone.

On a lighter note: Wiishu and the Pookster are doing the final prep for Halloween!


And if anyone is making an order on the new guy and doesn't want the sleeping FP, could you maybe PM me? The more I think about it, the more that looks like the Seiten Taisei, if I just make the eyes slitted. The cute little smirk is perfect. (From the manga/anime Saiyuki, Journey to the West, for those who were wondering.)

 

Anyone else around here going to agree with me that Pongpong2 and his Cheshire Cat face up are totally adorable?

 

I did not like how FL did his eyes, but he is growing on me with his little smirk.

I like the actual cat eyes, just not how they did the lower lashed. But it will not be the first time I eat my words after seein non FL pictures of him by new owners. FL does not alway do justice to some molds.

 

I am getting him with the faceup, I love it. It will look very different on tan though.

 

I am looking forward to seeing him in Tan, I am sure he will look great.

 

That new PongPong (3?) is wonderful. If only I knew where the money tree grows... I love that face-up, but I can see, that one might not think it Chesire-cat-ish enough. It was only when I saw the mask that I understood why he (or she, looks not like a tomcat to me) is the Chesire Cat indeed.

 

Bluemoonjules: I know you're not alone in that feeling! OBVIOUSLY FL loves it! It's an extreme makeup job and as such, it's likely to elicit extreme reactions. I've gotten the same from people regarding my faceups for Morgaine and Vanye, because they are extremely non-standard for BJDs, being based on my method of coloring for the graphic novel. Darkwind is a sweetheart and I know she wasn't meaning to hurt anyone's feelings or make a judgement on anyone else's taste. Neither was I. I was just trying to give those who might not even look twice at it a chance to see the face sculpt in a little different light.

My comment that the faceup does the sculpt no favors was more that what you see when you look at the fullset is the faceup, not the sculpt. The underlying sculpt, esp the eyes, is very different.


And I do love the mask and the wings and the boots. The whole outfit is cute, but esp those.

And I'm always curious to see one of the sets in tan, and look forward to your pix of him when he gets here. Do they do the exact same paint job, or do they adjust the colors?

Puppedoll: she's so sweet. The FL faceup wasn't bad, but I especially like the softer color on the eyeliner.

 

No idea...adjust, I expect. I know Darkwind is lovely, by the way (hugs) , it was the word used I was taken aback by. When you have just spent a lot of money on something...

I liked your face up too.

 

Language really is complicated when it comes to communication! I do agree with Bluemoonjules that speaking objectively, the word "repulsive" does seem rather harsh. I think most people hearing that word would expect zombies or Frankenstein's monster or a toad made of boogers, lol. Subjectively, it makes perfect sense for an individual person's extreme reaction. I personally would have used a more "politically correct" word like "turn-off" or "odd cup of tea" or something so I could signal my personal disapproval without offending anyone else's tastes.

But that's all in the past already, I guess! Just look at the posts! We're all grown-ups who know how to handle things civilly. Good job, ladies!

No i'm actually with you on Pong, i think he's going to be a really individual character, i would be getting him as a girl tbhough as i don't do well with boys but i love smiley dolls, here is a sneakpreview of my Halloween shoot with my smiley girl:

I am debating whether or not to join this event. I love the PKF Vanilla's face in the fullset but I may go for a MNF Ante in tan (though I may hold out for when FL makes a MNF Ante elf). I am also interested in a tan LTF Pong with the open mouth. So many decisions and so little money!

Speaking of Goku, here is my Son Goku (LTF Elf El), who is in partial transformation into Seiten Taisei. He still needs some work, like the right colour cat eyes and a custom wig.



This is Jinx, my happy-go-lucky kitty boy. I really enjoy taking him out and see if his kitty tendencies overtake his desire to be more human-like.

Oh yes, you certainly are on the right track there. With a little bit wilder wig it will look great. I have no idea who that character is, but I certainly see the resemblance.

Thanks. I'm really happy with the fit on the jumpsuit. I've got to get a pic of the jumpsuit alone... I hadn't realized how perfect the elf el is for the Gaiden Goku! Wow. I found this wig (lower right) for my seiten taisei on ebay...I'll try to find the link: Color's better in RL



Goku is the Monkey King from the amazing Saiyuki: Journey to the West and Saiyuki: Gaiden by the phenomenal mangaka, Kazuya Minekura. One of the best mangas and anime (first series. The second, gunlock, from a different anime company is average) ever.

Okay, I apologise if this has been asked a million times before, but I'm getting my first LTF in a couple weeks time and I'm new to everything xD What eye size do these cuties take, approximately? I know it differs from one sculpt to another, but a general idea would be good. And does anyone has comparison pics?

My incoming girl is supposed to look a little "surprised", so other than the raised eyebrows, she would need a smaller eye. Can I have some 12mm and 10mm size comparisons please? :') Doesn't need to be next to each other, separate ones are fine ^^

 

Chamillia- I don't think I have any pictures at the moment, but when I tried 10mm eyes on my Ante, they were quite gappy. 12mm looks really nice, though, and so does 14mm.

Eeep, gappy as it the socket is bigger than the eyes? Hmm, that's going to be a problem. Can I please have reference of this? Whenever you're free, I'm in no hurry :P

 

I find that the "surprised" look has a little more to do with eye placement than eye size, as larger eyes tend to make a sculpt look younger and more "doe-eyed." However, you can definitely achieve a "surprised" look with smaller eyes, too, if you place them looking straight on instead of slightly up like I personally prefer to do. My LittleFée Ante Elf came with 14mm acrylic eyes, but I use 12mm glass in my Juri'10 (Shiwoo Elf) faceplate. You might try searching on Flickr for eye comparisons.

Oh, also on the subject of eye sizes, there are a few companies that will take custom orders for a smaller iris size on a certain size of pupil. For reference, the mm size refers to the diameter of the whole eye, not just the iris. I believe the standard size is 14mm with a 7mm iris, so you could theoretically do a 14mm eye with a 6mm iris if you wanted the look of a 12mm iris but no gapping, (or a 12mm eye with 5mm iris, as the case may be).

 

My larger group of LTFs all have 12mm eyes, and I wouldn't go any smaller than that; I seriously doubt they'd fit at all without major gapping. Raised eyebrows, eye placement, and the sculpt overall will do more for the "surprised" look than small eyes, however. My Piki has a perpetually "worried" look from his eyebrows and sculpt; his oversized eyes (16mm) just make him look younger, and likewise the 12mm in the larger crew make them look older:
