Fairyland FM60 Sionna Fomhar Designer Complete

Mar 16, 2015

1. Sionna arrived Saturday, but because I wasn't home (I was at a doll meet-up: how ironic is that?) the mail carrier left a notice instead. After waiting all day Sunday, I couldn't get to the Post Office fast enough this morning. I wasn't thrilled to see that my box had a huge gash on the side. The folks at my PO stamped the box "Received in bad condition". No kidding! Here's the box:

You'd better believe I was nervous about opening it. Luckily, all the Korean newspaper and foam kept the important stuff intact. Nothing inside was damaged and everything appears to be there. Considering that the gift head was loose in the box, it could have fallen out if the gash got any bigger in handling. Thankfully it was on the other side of the box.

Underneath the packaging and extra stuff, Sionna's box itself was perfect.

Here's all the stuff that was in the carton:

I got the calendar and the F60 Rin sleeping elf head. The roll of bubble wrap (which I almost threw away thinking it was only more packaging) contained Sionna's broom. The tan box at the bottom has the outfit, fox tail and ears, and wig.

Here you see Sionna's certificate, the FM60 manual "dressed up" with a photo of Sionna, and a small package of postcards:

First glimpse of Sionna in the box. That's her sleeping head nestled between her knees. I didn't order it with faceup.

And here is a close-up of her beautiful face. It's hard to see in the photo, but she has freckles. I don't know if it's my imagination, but it seems to me that her eyes are slightly different colors. Maybe it's just an effect of the lighting in the room. Also, I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but my girl is a bobble-head. I'll see if a piece of moleskin attached to either her neck or the inside of her head will help.

Here she is wigged and dressed. Love the coat, but those many buttons are only glued on, not sewn. One popped off as I was putting the coat on and I had to re-glue it. The coat won't go on over her little puffed sleeves, so they have to come off first. I also had to remove her hands, both to get the coat sleeves on and then the gloves. From the promo photos I guessed that the tail would attach via magnet, but it has a pin at the end. You pin it to her skirt and then let it peek through the slit in her coat. It got in the way of my doll stand so I left it off.

Despite the issues, I love this girl. I can't wait to see what's next in the world of Mandrak Moors!

2. she's lovely! She looks amazing and I'm so happy for you :) I was tempted to buy Sionna myself too hehe, but sorry to see that you received the box in bad condition. Thank god for those korean newspaper and foam eh??? LOL!

3. Congrats! I'm glad nothing happend to her. She is lovely!

4. Thanks! I've received boxes with small dings before, but never one with such a large tear. It's ten inches on the diagonal! Makes me wonder if a handler was trying to get a better grip on the box, or if Customs poked it to see if it was worth opening. But she is unharmed, which is the important thing.

5. She is beautiful! congrats! :D

6. she really is beautiful, it's great to see them arriving. congratulations!

7. Oh she's wonderful. Been counting down the days for mine. It's killing me. When did you do your order? Mine was the 20th. Congrats and it's great seeing full sets. <3

8. She's lovely! Congrats on your new doll!

9. Congrats on getting her safe and sound. I have seen a lot of this doll lately. She's so pretty.

10. Congratulations! It is wonderful that everything is all right. Charmingly complete set. I love this makeup smoke - eyes.

11. Oh goodness, that box condition would have me afraid! Glad she came out good and lovely :D.

12. I really wabted Piper...
No money for nothing tho. :c
Congrats!

13. Thankfully everything was alright with that box, I would have been more than a little miffed at the state it was in. And wow she's gorgeous! I see what you mean with her eyes, her left eye is just a touch more blue than the other. Slight heterochromia perhaps? :P

14. i wanted a box opening for a feeple moe girl and she was bobble headed too, rather her head would move around (i guess thats what you mean)

lovely doll however, congratulations on her arrival ^^

15. Thank you for your comments, everyone!

Meguone, I ordered her direct from Fairyland on December 19th. There were a lot of orders on the 19th, but yours should be coming soon. Unless you ordered from DDE--that will add a few more weeks to your wait.

16. Congrats! She is lovely. Your so lucky that nothing happened to her with the box so damaged.

17. *0* so lovely... I was tempted but I'm still new-ish to bjd and my biggest doll is 43cm. I was to scared to get her. D:

18. Congrats, she is gorgeous. I agree with you on the eyes - one seems to be green and the other blue, but it might just be the light. Her outfit is incredible.

19. Congrats, she is beautiful! As for the eyes, it is true, they don't seem to be of the same color, but I find it quite nice in fact!

20. She's so beautiful! :love Congrats on her safe arrival! I would have flipped if I saw a gash in my box like that, but I'm happy that she and the event head were all safe! She really is incredible and I agree on her eyes, they do look like they're two different shades!

21. She is gorgeous! I really wish I had ordered her now. Congrats!

22. Thanks everyone for your comments!

I have fixed her head so that it no longer bobbles. I stuck two small strips of moleskin to the inside of her head, opposite each other, just below the place where the resin key turns. Problem solved. Her head now fits nice and snug. I had to fix the sleeping head also--both sat loosely on her neck.

23. ^ You're brilliant! I am going to buy some moleskin tomorrow. :D You know I love this wonderful, bobbly girl to pieces...she's quite possibly the most personality-filled-right-out-of-the-box doll that I've received in the last couple of years - so belated congrats on her homecoming, because I know how happy you must be. I'm morbidly curious, though...which "button" did she pop? Mine lost the top coat button on her left (my right) lapel as soon as I started to put it on. I really wish they'd gone the extra mile and used stitching, because I'm pretty confident that at some point I'm going to start losing them and sucking them up in the vacuum by accident, never to be seen again. :sweat

24. Woah, if my box had arrived like that, I would have had a heart attack! Luckily it didn't affect her and she looks really beautiful, congratulations!

25. Don't know if you saw my other post about the moleskin. (I don't remember if it was the waiting room or the Feeple60 discussion.) I posted a photo so people could see where exactly I was sticking the moleskin. I'm repeating it here for anyone who hasn't come across it yet.

As for the button she popped, it was about half-way down the coat on the left side (her right side). Real buttons with stitching would have been nice, instead of the stick-on ones. I'm sure FL's choice was dictated by speed rather than quality. I guess the thing to do is to make sure she's got all her buttons before you vacuum. Or else buy some real buttons and replace them all. (That's a lot of buttons!)

26. The first picture my heart dropped a little but I'm glad everything was okay ^^ She's gorgeous<3

27. Yeah, new buttons are definitely not happening any time soon (not laziness alone, although it does play a major part :P - *sigh* I also happen to really like the stupid 'fake' buttons). She's just going to be checked when she comes out of the cabinet, and rechecked when she goes back in.

Bought moleskin today...implanting it tomorrow. I got the faceup on the sleeping head, and it's so lovely...but not sure if I'm going to keep it, because I still haven't even tried it on, but I definitely want to see it on her without the bobble. I reiterate that you are brilliant...I probably would have tried sueding and hoped for the best. :sweat

I'm nervously awaiting what Mandrak Moors has to offer next. Sionna is so perfect...I think this series may be very dangerous for my budget...

28. She's beautiful congratulations! :D

29. she's gorgeous!

30. Congratulations, she's beautiful

31. What a beautiful girl! I'm checking all the Sionna threads on DOA since I was lucky enough to grab one on eBay. Gorgeous shot of her faceup, never noticed the freckles before!

32. It was really nice to see Sionna at meetup. I'm not always crazy about Fairyland dolls but she's a keeper especially with the sparkly eyes.

33. what a neat outfit! She has cool stylized cat shaped eyes I love it

34. vermont chick Perhaps some better fabric glue on those buttons would help?

35. She's lovely!! That box damage is kind of terrifying though, I would have almost fainted if I had seen the box arrive like that :O

36. I re-glued both buttons (the original, plus the one she popped at the meet-up) with Aleene's Tacky Glue. So far so good.

37. Stunning girl!! Congrats!!!

38. I love her ! The makeup is gorgeous and her eyes seems to be a little different ! Beautiful ^.^
