Fairyland Feeple60 Discussion - Part 15

Jul 8, 2021

    1. I need your help Feeple People! I still haven't decided on how to style my Lookback Lishe. I've narrowed it down to a few in-stock Leeke wigs at DDE ( I just can't bring myself to spend $30 on shipping from someplace).

I haven't painted her or bought eyes yet since I'm so undecided on her hair.
As a reminder, here is what she looks like:

Under the spoiler tab are a few different colored ones that I like but can't decide. I like styles that don't have bangs, I think it shows her face the best.

@Robyn_in_WA - Ooh, her faceup is really beautiful! And the color of her hair is very flattering.

    2. I vote either the blue or red.

      • x 1
    3. @Nabbs
I second the vote for either the blue wig or the red one. I love rich bright colors and fantasy colors for doll wigs, so those are the options that stand out to me.

As for styling over all I'm no help at all with other people's dolls, my own are all over the place for style. I've two soon to be three F60 Alans, and each is very different from the other in spite of default face ups cuz of eye and wig color choices. So much personality in a doll can come from something simple and small like that.

Speaking of unique styling I'm making my winking Lishe elf boy into a brushed and beaten fighter/brawler. He's going to have a face up that makes his wink into a black-eye and I want him to have lots of little cuts and bruises. Cuz I saw the head and went I want to make this elf boy into a brawler punk clearly he has been on the wrong end of a fight. When he is done I want him to have a look that says "well yeah I look bad, but you should see the other guy."

    4. Thank you for the input guys! I ended up ordering the red wig and the ombre one (I forgot I had a gift card, yay!). Plus some light violet eyes. I'll try them on and see what works. Her head is so small that she can share wigs with my older mnf Marcia , so she might get what doesn't work out lol.

As far as a character she's definitely a witch of some kind, but haven't hammered out the details. My other dolls exist in a magical universe of course, so I'm looking forward to making some outfits and props. (I'm also trying to ignore the size difference between her and my mnfs :sweat)

@Tippetarius - I love that concept! It's very unique. I feel like his faceup will do a good job of showing his personality. I look forward to seeing photos when he's ready

    5. Oh don't ignore size diff just work it in their story, like she's a half giant, or it was a spell gone tilt, or some other such quirky way to explain away her being much taller. Or flip it maybe the rest of them are shorter is from having fairy blood, it makes you small. ;)

Whatever else I really like she's some kind of witch as back story. Oh and good luck in the wigs. <3

Normally I don't double post, but already hit enter on the above when your @ me message then popped up. XD
Anyway thank you for liking the concept, I'm first slowly learning face ups. (I need to have my friend with some skill in that show me how to do some stuff like bruising.) However he does have a wig picked out and I think I found him eyes (er eye one doesn't show as winking head) I've got loose outfit plans right now that are mostly banaged hand wraps to drive him the scrappy fighter vibes. XD
I'll post some photos once he either has a face or pants I like whichever comes first lol.

    6. I finished up a summery dress for my Feeple60 gals today. I used some very fine
Swiss batiste - and a people pattern from etsy - which I scaled down for the dolls.
While I think the dress is really sweet for people, I'm not so sure about how it works
on the Feeple gals. I may try it on a larger doll and see if it looks more like the
      pattern photos.

    7. @Robyn_in_WA - I think it looks very sweet. She is also just beautiful anyway. :D

My Leeke wig order came in from DDE and they're both size 7/8. One wig is way too small, and the other one which is the same size fits almost perfect. Kinda disappointed, but will try to exchange for a bigger size. That also worries me because I've tried an 8/9 Leeke on her and it was so incredibly oversized that the wig cap fell down over her ears. *_* Will post pics when I get a chance.

    8. @Nabbs- Yeah, the Lookback heads are a tricky wig size! I've had that same experience, though I did manage to squeeze a Luts 7-8 on my El. I've had better luck with Smartdoll wigs, they're kind of in between BJD sizes. The wigs I got from Dallas Doll Co fit my Lookback El perfectly, though they're closing out their Smartdoll wigs so if you want any, grab em fast  I would guess that other brands' Smartdolls wigs would fit well too.

      • x 1
    9. I might have to try that! I had previously tried on a 7/8 Leeke wig and it was the perfect size, but not my favorite style. So I'm so bummed that my new 7/8 aren't the best fit.

@overlordu - Thank you for the suggestion! I just snagged a bundle of 2 beautiful wigs for $24 and it was FREE shipping. :D

    10. She is beautiful! Is that the Fairyland face-up?

    11. Here she is in the red wig. I am in love with the color! I was worried it would be a bright primary red and look unnatural, but it's just dark enough in real life to look more realistic. I like the idea that it's big and crazy from spending the day in the woods picking potion ingredients. I'm not sold on the lilac eyes, though. I think they clash a bit. I'm thinking a bright green might match better. :) I did order a few SmartDoll wigs just to see what I like, though. This wig fits, but just barely. If I end up keeping this one I might try to use velcro. It's just small enough that when I move her head it slips back and tries to pop off. :(

    12. Does anybody have photos of any Feeples with 12mm eyes? I'm interested in a more realistic look, but am worried an eye that small will show gaps in the corner, or look kind of funny. I would love to see any pictures you may have! I've only tried her in 14mm eyes so far.

    13. @Nabbs If 14mm fits well, you could try to find eyes with smaller irises. 14mm traditionally have a 7mm iris, and 12mm would have 6mm, so perhaps a 14mm eye with 6mm iris (14/6) would be more realistic looking while fitting without gaps! I've also seen 14/5 but that might look kind of intense. :XD:

    14. Thanks @Dollquest! and yes - tan Ria has her original Fairyland facepaint.
They did a great job on her - no weird eyebrows even!
Her alpaca wig is by Belachix on etsy; and urethane Gumdrops 12mm eyes.

    15. Does anyone have photos of a recent Carol default faceup?

    16. @overlordu - You're the best for the suggestion about Dallas Doll Co. I just got my mew wigs in and they're literally so soft and gorgeous, and are the perfect fit. :D The natural ginger color is perfect, but I'm curious to try and dye the other wig a little darker (I've never dyed a wig before). I'll try to grab a few photos before I head to work today.

    17. Hi everyone! My human Netis arrived today, and I’m in love! :D I’m surprised I haven’t seen any owner pictures of her yet. I’m still deciding how to style her - once my home renovations are complete, I’ll grab my spare wigs and eyes and see if anything clicks.

Edit: Weirdly the picture shows in the preview but not the post. Here’s an Imgur link for anyone who’d like an owner picture of Netis:

    18. @Natty - Your Netis is gorgeous! :love It's interesting to see what she looks like without a faceup. I'm excited to see what she looks like when she's done.

I'm finally getting around to painting my Lookback Lishe after trying on every single wig I own a hundred times. :sweat I decided on the wavy red hair. She's my sweet witch in the woods, so I'm trying a more natural faceup (no dark black "eyeliner" on the top lid, etc.). Let me tell you, trying to mix the right shade of red for her eyebrows was challenging. I'll post pictures when she's done.

    19. I finally painted my Lookback Lishe! I used gouache paint for the first time which is a million times easier than acrylic. I was trying for a more natural and lightly blushed look. I am particularly pleased with how her lips turned out. She's such a versatile sculpt, though! I was heavily considering painting her to match a black wig and look more dark and sultry, but the red wig is just too beautiful.

    20. Hi there! I was wondering if anyone has recent photos of a chloe default faceup? Just the default, no mods?

    22. Oh thank you so much! Shes so pretty ahhhh ♡♡♡

    23. Beautiful, congrats at getting her face done, she's beautiful. All Lishes are beautiful IMO LOL RE: wig decisions, ugh, so hard! I've found that finding the right wig requires the doll to try it on. That means, I've collected a lot of wigs in my time! At least when you have a lot of wig styles and colors, you can narrow things down, like size color and general style (bangs no/bangs) etc... So I make fewer mistakes now, but still, ugh, yah, wigs are a pain in the butt :D But I think that one looks fantastic :D

      Aww, she's so pretty too!

    30. Anyone seen the new F60 boys preview. :D He's absolutely stunning and has an alternate head that's a very stern looking feline.

    31. OMG he is perfect <3

    32. Oh man.., lol, and I was just fussing that they have no F60 boys anymore.

    33. Can someone enlighten me if I'm missing anything why he is a cat and named Kanis? :XD: I got so excited for a dog. I'm really over the voodoo theme but he's cute! And maybe we can order him in grey skin which would be so cool!

    34. I just saw him on Instagram, he's lovely!

    35. I tried looking to see if there was any connection with cats... failed. In Dutch it means "Basket with fish" and Greek "Ti Kanis" is "how are you doing?". In Arabic and a few other languages it is synagogue or church.

So it might be Church, Fish Basket, or How you doin'?

It could be just a translation snafu... thinking about the time Impldoll named a doll Penis and quickly changed it when they were told what that was in English.

*Edited to ask about Sia with a non-Fairyland faceup? I think I've only ever seen the Fairyland "crow witch" style faceup.

    40. Oh I'd also like to see owner face ups on Netis.
My boy Netis has the default FL face up which is cute, but I might try and edit it a bit to darken around his eyes some and goth him up a bit. However for now as is his face up works for his character.

    41. I plan on getting my Netis (human and the vampire dreaming a heads) painted next year, so I’ll try to remember to share pictures of her here. :) Until there, here’s my blank girl looking terribly seductive. :aheartbea

    42. Kanis and Grumpy Cat... ordered!

I suspect I'm going to have way too much fun with that cat, even though I have not one single clue where I'm going to put her. She may end up being the only doll who doesn't hang out with the rest of the gang in the sewing room cabinets. She may end up being my office Desk Cat.

At least she won't shed on my keyboard?

    45. Does anybody have a girl Erda? I think the sculpt sculpt and company face up would be beautiful for a serious-type character.

      • x 2
    46. My f60 Erda is male, but I have two mnf Erdas and one is a she/they. I think Erda is a very neutral mold and could work for any gender.

    48. I wanted to share a quick snapshot of my new tan Chloe - as yet unpainted -
but her custom ordered alpaca wig arrived and looked SO cute on her!

    50. Hi everyone, can someone give their opinion on the Feeple60 motion line boy body?

I'm considering taking advantage of the grey skin free choice and have avoided all of Fairyland's boy bodies (other than fairyline) because they aren't great, to be blunt. I had F60 Alan for about 10 minutes before I decided to sell him and didn't get much of a chance to play with the body.

I mainly collect SD17 boys and SD13 boys, so I'd really love a Feeple boy, but I just really feel like I'm probably not a fan of the new bodies. Lack of posing, coat hanger shoulders, skinny hard to fit limbs etc. Can someone give me an unbiased review? Clothing you find fits well? Posing ability etc?

Either this or I'll just give in to a Feepl60 Chloe I've been trying to resist for like 7 years now xD

      • x 1
    51. I owned a feeple60 boy body for a couple weeks before I sold it, but it was a gorgeous body, and it posed as well as the f60 girls that I had!

      • x 2
    52. I love the f60 motion boy body, and have 5 dolls on it, F60s dolls total at this time one on the female body and an Erda on the slightly older version of the motion body (it has a few differences). However as much as I love that f60 boys, I will be the first to say not all dolls are for every one, and personal tastes matters a lot in this hobby.

I like how the F60 and f65 boys look and pose. I think the f60s have a nicer looking body than the f65s as they have less rigid shoulders. I think they pose fairly well. I have dolls of all sizes now and tend to lean to liking 65 to 68 sized boys, but something about the F60 boys keeps drawing me back. I plan to get the new boy in gray as also a sucker for gray skinned dolls.

F60 boys are small and slim, not always a bad thing as I like having a lot of body types, however having that wide range of body types means dressing dolls isn't uniform. To that end I have found if it fits Smart Dolls (double so SmD boys) it most likely will fit f60 boys when it comes to shirts and pants and the like. Most of my f60 boys are in clothing made for SmDs save a few in random other outfits for 60cm dolls.

      • x 2
    53. I recently got an Alan on the feeple 60 motion boy body and I like him a lot! Clothing wise he fits any standard Volks sd13 boy and girl clothes very well he even fits smart doll sized clothing I’ve also heard some regular SD boy clothes will fit but haven’t tested that myself. Shoe wise I only have one pair and there sd13 and fit him pretty good a little room but nothing socks won’t fix! as for posing personally I like the body a lot my only issue was having him sit since he came really loosely strung I restrung him and it helped a lot I find the body needs to be really tightly strung to pose well I also surfed his hips with hot glue and know I have zero issues with posing! He stands like a rock and his chest posing is incredible! His arms are just like a minifee so good but nothing crazy his knees are good they pose very well and he can even sit on his knees amazingly! And he’s very stable when sitting on his knees! The shoulders are a bit pointy but they don’t look bad in clothes pretty much a loose T-shirt will compliantly hide it. Overall I think it’s a good body but it has its problems like the stringing and sitting but nothing that can’t be Easley fixed!

    54. Turns out in April I'll have the money to buy my Lishe, Feather, a F60 moe body, and I was wondering if you can ask Fairyland to send extra elastic with your order? Has anyone done that? Thanks!
