Fairyland ChicLine 40cm Discussion Part One

Apr 22, 2010

    1. I am sorry I can't wait....and I took photoshop and...had to do this....!
I am really happy, L-Line is a bigger head/faceplate whatever xDDD really happy C-line heads looks too small for me!!!

    2. I read L-line are the faceplates that go with the head back that supports littlefee faceplates.

    3. I bet there is a hidden double joint in the knees. :D Just 'cause it doesn't look like the MiniFee knees doesn't mean it's single jointed.

    4. The bodies seem to be pretty much identical to the MNF bodies... just a touch shorter with different knees, elbows, and neck thickness. The girls' waists are thinner and they have smaller hands, but otherwise... really, it doesn't seem too different. I'm looking forward to seeing more photos of the posing to see how it is different from the A-line body.

I like the tiny heads, actually... though I have to look at them by themselves rather than in comparison to the MNF and and L-line heads. If I get them, they'll be separate from my other storylines so the head size compared to other dolls won't matter.

    5. I was curious to see how accurate the C-line head really is in proportion to the body, so I did a little Photoshopping :3 According to Wikipedia:

"# The average adult human figure is about 7 to 7.5 heads tall.
      # The idealized human figure is traditionally represented as being 8 heads tall:

      1. From the top of the head to the chin
      2. from previous position to the nipples
      3. from previous position to the navel
      4. from previous position to the crotch
      5. from previous position to mid-thigh
      6. from previous position to just below the knees
      7. from previous position to the middle of the shinbone (the tibia)
      8. from previous position to the feet"

Also: "the maximum width of the shoulders is a quarter of a man's height"

And here is the picture I made! The body is exactly 8 heads high, which is accurate for the "idealized" human figure. Looks like the shoulders could even stand to be a bit wider. In the context of fictional people, they remind me of certain anime styles (like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) or some action figures (like the ones for Fist of the North Star). XD

Man, I can't believe how excited I am about these dollies! I'll try not to spam this thread anymore though *dies*

    6. ChicLine Boy Girl
      Height (Cm/Inch) 40.0/75.75 37.0/14.57
      Weight (g/lbs) 457/1.00 338/0.74
      Head circumference (Cm/Inch) 12.0/4.72 12.0/4.72
      Neck circumference (Cm/Inch) 6.7/2.64 6.0/2.36
      Shoulder width (Cm/Inch) 8.2/3.23 7.5/2.95
      Shoulder to wrist (Cm/Inch) 13.0/5.12 12.0/4.72
      Elbow to wrist (Cm/Inch) 6.0/2.36 5.5/2.17
      Length of back (Cm/Inch) 8.0/3.15 6.5/2.56
      Chest circumference (Cm/Inch) 18.0/7.09 16.7, 16.0/6.57, 6.30
      Waist circumference (Cm/Inch) 13.5/5.31 11.0/4.33
      Hip circumference (Cm/Inch) 18.0/7.09 17.5/6.89
      Hip to knee (Cm/Inch) 9.5/3.74 9.0/3.54
      Knee to ankle (Cm/Inch) 10.0/3.94 9.5/3.74
      Ankle circumference (Cm/Inch) 5.0/1.97 4.3/1.69
      Feet size (Cm/Inch) 5.0/1.97 4.3/1.69
      Feet size (high-heel) (Cm/Inch) - 4.1/1.61

So either stretchy 4-5 or a 5. O my, that's actually SMALLER than a PKF head.

    7. So wig size would be a size 4-5 then but no bigger than that......eye size I saw was a size 6....that will be a challenge to find different sizes and colors to fit in such a small head. Clothing.....don't even want to go there but my Tyler and Gene dolls could be stripped clean if I get her.

    8. @Lazulistar - their head size is 12.0/4.72, which I think would be 4-5?

    9. one thing that freaked out about these doll is about how small their heads are Ô__o
      LOOK!!
      what wig size fit that??
      A is MNF, B is R-lin and C is C-line

    10. gigias: C-line is Chic-Line ^^ Thank you very much for the link!

    11. It will probably be impassible to fit a 12 inside the head.

    12. Looking at the size of the default eyes in the Fairyland photos, I think even a puki 8mm eye would be too big, since there isn't a whole lot of white even with the 6mm (I'm looking at Soo but I imagine the others are fairly similar). :)

    13. I'd think 8mm may need beveling to fit from puki experience with fairyland faces. Some of the pukis say they take 8mm but I found that 6mm fit better with some molds. Luckily 6mm is a standard for fashion dolls so there are some nice eyes out there in 6mm. Ginarolo carries some

    14. I ended up ordering the El in white. I don't really care if he doesn't match my other dolls, since he's in his own storyline. :) I am still not sure about the size of the head, but I really love the grown up face. I'm really excited to see some adult proportioning, as the character is supposed to be in his late twenties.

Next up is to find eyes (checking out ginarolo) and commission a fur wig. I am hoping he'll be able to wear the outfit I had commissioned for the Narin who was this character previously... or at least pieces of it.

    15. 6MM eyes aren't nearly as hard to find as one would think. Dollmore, Captured in Glass, and most general doll shops carry them in some form, you just have to look in different places than what you would for most BJDs.

    16. For everyone confused why FL ChicLine dolls are on topic for DoA while Dollmore Fashion dolls are not; Fairyland have emphasised the customisable aspect of the ChicLine dolls, (extra head connectors, ability to hybrid with parts of other Fairyland dolls...), which is a large and important part of the BJD hobby. Dollmore specifically market their similarly-sized dolls as fashion dolls, which are not the focus of Den of Angels.

I really like the L-line head Ruru, I think she'd make a lovely C-line doll, but also a pretty LittleFee. I can't wait to see the ChicLines start arriving and see what people do with them.

    17. You're right, I did the calculation wrong (that's what happens when you do math in your head, LOL) They are 15.75" tall so that is very close to Tonner. Also other dolls are Ficon, Sybarite, Avant Guards, JamieShow, Joe Tai and Les Reves De Garcon that have clothing that will fit a 16" doll (all with slight variations in body size). I have clothing by all these companies along with wigs to try out. The wigs are size 4/5 so that seems like it should fit these girls too.

    18. Conversion equations for people who are wondering :daisy. (known measurement)

      2.54X(inches)= cm
      (cm)/2.54= inches

      1 inch = 2.54 cm

    19. I think where the confusion came in is that Fairyland's measurement chart says the boys are 40cm and the girls are 37cm. 40cm would be better.

    20. That's why I came up with the 14.5" for the girls! Thanks, I'm not crazy then, LOL

    21. MNF can almost fit perfectly into Tonner clothes, just 1/2 cm too big in the butt, so my tight skirts have to ride up a bit to fit :) They should be a great fit for Chic! Maybe a little smaller in the bust, so maybe very fitted items might end up slightly bulbous on the Chic. Maybe nothing will look bad though?

Mayonaka, they most certainly won't fit Barbie, but sometimes Ken stuff will fit the Minifee, so maybe sweaters n such made for Ken might fit. I wouldn't count

For the measurements, I think they're taken with flat feet. When you put the heels on, you might get the same as a Tonner TW doll?? 16" or close to it ??

    22. Just for reference, here is my MNF next to a Tonner Sydney Chase (Tyler Wentworth type) doll

Then you can compare MNF with Chic here and here

And having done this, I must re-evaluate my thoughts on how well the Chic line would fit TW clothing. Still, even in my two pictures, one looks like the TW is a lot taller, the other they look the same height. So much happens in the 3d world when photographing to a flat 2d picture. Face on, the new Chic body doesn't look that different, just thinner up top, profile really looks different though. Kind of have to also go by the numbers they give us. But do note that the pictures are taken with the doll in her flat feet, so the heels will make her more like the TW doll's feet, and lift her height up higher as well. So.... anyway, LOL, in the end, we have to wait and see, but I dont think I can stop myself from guessing LOL!

    23. FYI - I just measured some Tyler shoes and they have 3/4 inch heals. If the Chic line high heel feet are 3/4 inch, that would make them 15 1/4 tall.

    24. LOL, I didn't mean to sound negative (didn't even finish my sentance, I was tired, LOL) But yah, I recently put a ken blazer on my minifee. a little tight but cute! My mnf has too big a bum for any of his pants though. But you could make a stretchy skirt easily and have a bottom ready :) And of course the Chic line bum might be small enough for a pair of Ken shorts (but his bum is so small... I dunno LOL)

    25. I was looking at the Unoa Quluts measurements and it looks like the girl Unoa has similar measurements to a boy Chic in pant size. So maybe they would work too. Unless I compared them wrong which is highly possible O.o

    26. they also finally posted the event photos. UGH I want that sleeping cat face SO MUCH MORE now!

I definitely don't think I'm much fond of the c-line cat face, but the lion one is sort of growing on me.

    27. I'm hoping that the sleeping cat will be easy to find after they've shipped, but it's so cute that maybe it won't be ._. UGH I hope it doesn't turn into another 'NNR'07' for me.

For the first time I don't really want to finish an event head set with a body. I mean, I want to complete all of my floaters eventually, but ... that c-line cat head set, I'm really not fond of it, and this is the first time ever I haven't really been fond of a FL event head (well, aside from Dreaming Lily, but I think that one was just soured because of the faceup being lied about being non-permanent). Sure, I have a small bust C-Line female body listed on my wishlist for it, but it's definitely going to be last. Ruru will end up getting one first to be sure, and I definitely want a non-muscular C-Line for Breakaway.

But those cat plates ... :/ I'm thrilled with the magnetic ears though. I'm definitely going to be using those!

    28. Wow, the event anthro plates are no way as cute as I thought they would be aside from the L - Line Sleeping Cat. The C -Line Lion and Cat plates both remind me of the Beast from Beauty and the Beast, the TV show not the Disney movie. They're cool but totally not what I was expecting.

I don't think I'll be keeping Breakaway when he turns up. I always prefer other peoples Breakaways. I would have loved Ruru instead. It would be great if Fairyland would offer an alternative to event heads/fps for people if they did want the offered plate.

Lion plates will probably hang about for a bit. I'd like to try them out and live with them on the CLine body but I really will have to get another CLine boy then. Hopefully if FL have already reached the 100 sales mark with this event it will assure them that lots of people like this size and they will bring out new face plates soon.

    29. I agree, the lion looks tremendously like Vincent, from Beauty & the Beast.. I could see dressing him in medieval garb with a big fluffy mane of hair. He needs big furry paws, too. ;)

    30. In their first newspost introducing the ChicLine they said that the L-Line headback connector, and I quote, "...will be able to support LittleFee faceplate on Chic Line body." No assumptions or guessing needed :) Which is great, because I might try Breakaway on my future Elf Shiwoo LTF body.

      Those cat nurses are creepy lookin' o_o;

    31. I think that was someone else's question.

The L-Connectors will only work with their specified gendered C-Line bodies though, if anyone's curious about that. The L-Line and LTF faceplates should all work on the head connector itself.

    32. Here's the link to the waiting room again:
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...ing-Room-v4!&p=6386503&viewfull=1#post6386503
It looks like around a 6-8 week wait if you ordered direct from FL, then?
My BFF ordered her girl from DDE, though she's not on DoA, so she's not on this list, but she did order a full set Ino. *drool*
My boy needs the other pair of hands, too. I think I need to check out the split thread or GO for the #3 hands.

    33. I hope it's an early ship for all... I am changing a character from a Narin to the c-Line El. I already sold the Narin and I feel weird not having an embodiment of that character around! I want him to return in his spiffy new pinheaded form. :aheartbea

Re: head size... they have a 4-5 wig size. What other dolls wear that? I'm going to be commissioning a fur wig and need to find someone who sews that size! Looking at the measurement chart in tinies, looks like they would wear same wig size as Bisou Ai...?

    34. Ah, here's something for those of us who are looking at LTF faces for our C-line dolls, LittleFee Dark Elf Soo!

Personally, I think this is the best looking DES so far, and her face isn't anywhere near as baby like as most LTFs (and her super thin nose isn't as.. pronounced? as with other variants of her). She's so pretty on her own, but I still think I like El better. Oh, and an Elf El, too.

    35. Is it just me, or does the El look not very El-like? *_* I think he's missing the cheeks xDD
      But omg. Another DES OTL

Why you do this to me, feeple????

Decoy Embra - That's exactly what I think! But since it was during the long weekend, the 100-order quota could have been filled before my order and I'll never know xD;; I do wish he'll be here next week though ;_; Thinking of getting some 6mm masterpiece eyes, but am wary about the quality. Anyone here eye hunting as well? xD

armeleia - I'm getting some 5" wigs for my boys!

    36. Crossing my fingers for ya ;D

I'm definitely eye hunting. I want stormy grey eyes for Pin, and I'm thinking a warm brown for the Lishe. I'll wait and see which they come with though before I purchase any. As it is I'll probably have to wait until my yearly Christmas Dollmore GO to get them.

    37. Since I haven't been able to keep up, does anyone know if the C-line bodies will ever be sold alone (like some of the Minifee bodies are)? Also, the L-Line head connection will also eventually be sold separate (or with the body), right? n n;

    38. I believe the head connections will be sold separate (since they're only part of the gift package during the event), but they haven't mentioned whether they'll sell the bodies separate yet or not. All I know that they've stated for sure is that they'll be adding an A La Carte system for ChicLine. I assume though that if enough people request it, the bodies will be sold separately, the same as MNF bodies are.

I hope they are anyway. I need about four extra bodies from the ChicLine myself :/

    39. EDIT; Mreh, Decoy beat me to it!

Right now, we don't know if bodies will be sold separate. L-line connections, and the yet to be released M-line connections, will be.

My assumption is that when Fairyland adds C-line to their A La Carte (which they have stated will come shortly after the release event ends), it will be based around which head connection you plan to use. CP has always been adverse to selling their head sculpts separately, so that's the only logical route I can think of that works well with these kinds of dolls.

Except, of course, if they started to sell some heads or faces separately. :sweat

    40. Thanks for your quick response!

I'm planing on having a LTF headplate modded to look a bit darker/more mature, and so I'd end up needing the head connection + body if I decided to go that route (which is why I asked).

Though I seriously am hoping that they WILL sell them separate, but if not, I suppose maybe I could get lucky in a split...?

EDIT: Thank you, too, Ellanie. (:

    41. Sorry Ellanie, I sort of camp the thread at night while typesetting ;D

Well, for their tinies they've always sold 'transformation' or 'winking' faceplates separately. It's just their heads-entire and 'basic line' faceplates that they don't particularly seem willing. With the emphasis on fantasy and optional parts they're putting on Chic, I'm sure a lot of transformation or fantasy faceplates will be available separately, though I doubt they'll sell the 'normal' human faceplates separately since it's not really their practice to do so.

PrincessEv: Running a split to find someone to take the faceplate you don't want and allowing you to keep what you do want is pretty easy to do. There's always someone out there who only wants a faceplate, or who can only afford a faceplate to start :3

    42. I'm already saving to split a LTF in a few months, hopefully during the summer event, pretty much to do the exact same thing, save the modding part. I'm just diving in for a mature face-up. My two favorites for the concept, El and Leah, aren't popular enough to really find a blank OE and sleeping face easily on the MP, so running or joining a split is the easiest route.

LTFs have actually been pretty lackluster in the parts department until very recently. How long has Pukisha been around, and still no proper parts for them!

Also, they are a lot stingier for special plates and faces now, too. You can get older Puki sculpts Winking plates, but could only get the newer one's through fullset. (For example, Lily's Circus full sets came with an extra winking plate but no sleeping, and her basic has a sleeping but no winking. O_o If you want both, you'd have to buy 2 Lilys!)

Heck, I think the only reason they really started selling bodies were from the complaints that Gift Heads had no bodies of their own! CP apparently hates the concept of one of their dolls being a hybrid.

Basically, I have little hope in the idea of Fairyland suddenly making all or most of their heads available for individual purchase, even though one of the shining points of the C-line bodies is that they can have heads and faces from older lines, though I don't doubt that their will be a wall of NEW transformation faces or perhaps a few human/elf faces only for sale individually.

    43. Decoy Embra: Thanks for letting me know that. I had browsed through some before, but I noticed some did better than others in terms of how fast people want to join in. Which really, I suppose, isn't too much of an issue since I know it can be hard to save for a doll and/or their accessories. I'm just hoping that if I were to end up having to split a C-Line girl (basic or full), someone would be interested in the faceplate/headback (or accessories if I decided to go with the fullset).

Ellanie: The reason for the mod is mostly that it's a sleeping faceplate, but I am glad to hear that I am not the only one looking for a mature face-up. I have someone in mind to do it (since I'm not very good), but it'll have to be after my MSD gets a complete makeover. |3

I noticed, though, that LTFs have magnets in their back. I'm really surprised that fairyland hasn't done more fantasy parts for them in atleast that area. By the way, has anyone heard yet if the Chicline bodies will have magnets for wings and/or tails? Since, you know, keep hearing about all the great magical stuff they're supposed to have in the future for them.

    44. Sometimes it just plays down to how patient you are and what people are looking for at the time. I've seen splits fill up quickly, and I've seen them take one or two weeks before they finally fill to the point the host is happy enough with the results to put in the order. If you have good feedback people are more apt to join you as well :)

Honestly I assume they'll have magnets like the LTF do, but maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part :) I'm surprised too that they haven't taken more of an advantage of them in their tinies, though I have noticed with the last event they've started to with the smaller ones (PukiFée in particular have tails in their animal paw sets). For LTF they only have the wings and ears :(

    45. Oh wow, Ellanie, I really like both of them a lot! (LTF El n DES) Thanks for posting them!

    46. hyschara, where are you getting the 5" wigs?

Re: a la carte, I do wonder how they're going to do the fantasy and option pieces that they mentioned. I hope that they sell some parts separately in the future, otherwise it sort of seems like penalizing the people who got in on the initial orders. I was lucky that I wanted the El on the slimmer body! I hope they come out with a lot of options for C-line boy heads! Since I'm taking the plunge into this size/scale/head size, the companion doll for my El will also have to be C-line. I would looooove a C-line Woosoo or Karsh! :aheartbea

Also hope that they'll start selling 6mm eyes...

    47. armeleia: If you go by their LTF/PKF/Puki lines and their fantasy/transformation parts, it's safe to assume that ChicLine fantasy parts will also be sold individually. They would sort of be shooting themselves in the foot if they didn't, touting this line as being so customizable, but not only penalizing people who didn't get in on the first orders, but also those who did since they wouldn't be able to further customize their dolls with parts without splitting off with another customer or buying another doll entirely, which for some people would be a bit too costly.

But, like the other lines, there's no guarantee that their event faceplates will ever become general edition unless enough people ask after them or they decide to release them in a few months' time like their PKF Pukisha and Hamster plates. Considering the PKF faceplates though, I'm guessing they just may (personal opinion, of course). Especially since from what I can tell the Lion faceplate is quite popular.

I have some 6mm eyes picked out for Pin (Rou) from Dollmore :3 They have a bit of a selection because of the fashion dolls they sell. I had another pair here somewhere because I thought they'd fit in one of my puki faceplates, but I misplaced them when my box fell off the computer desk x_x

I used to have a site bookmarked for 5" wigs, but I can't remember which computer's set of bookmarks has it. It was a general doll site, and one for fashion dolls. If I come across it I'll link it here for others. There were quite a few really nice wigs available, especially for girls.

    48. If you're in the US, http://www.audreysdolls.com has great prices (minimum $25) on wigs and really a lot of regular monique wigs look awesome on BJD's. They also have a lot in size 4/5

I also want to say, since I have tiny tinies with 6mm eyes (them be some small eyes!) you may want to think about getting low dome or no dome eyes. The reason is that at such a small scale, the light refacts so much, it'll look weird in pictures (pupils disappear, and just strange effects) also they don't fit as nicely against the eye. Just thought I'd put that out there as some of you will never have delt with such small eyes before :)

      I hate myself :(

I'm seriously tempted to forgo my long awaited beautiful MNF Rheia so I can get a Rou to go with Ino :doh

      This is an illness :doh

    49. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Parabox, yet. NEON WIGS, and in the small size! http://www.parabox.jp/eng/wig-01.html

They make Obitsu stuff predominantly, but they have a few nice things that could work for the smaller headed C-lines.
