Props Fairy House by Mike and Debbie Schramer (Feeler)

Aug 3, 2022

    1. Hello there!

I thought I'd bring a book to the community's attention. It's called Fairy House: How to Make Amazing Fairy Furniture, Miniatures, and More from Natural Materials by Mike and Debbie Schramer.

This book is really unique from all the books I've seen on making minis for dolls (well in this case these are to be used for fairy gardens and dioramas, but who's keeping score?). You can go out after a storm and gather materials that have fallen from trees or washed up on the beach or whatever and make things out of them using the ideas in the book! They range from simple fairy doors (good for dioramas) to whole bedroom sets out of natural material. It's a really great resource.

I have a box of sticks currently waiting to be turned into fancy chairs lol I am worried about messing them up or not getting the proportions right but honestly that's all a part of the learning process. I'm lucky and live by a huge park so sticks are no stranger to me.

Would anyone be interested in building natural little furniture and things with me? Or just following along with my progress? I'm thinking about making a tiny chair today for my 15cm dolls Toast, Tempest (humans) and Mia and Maya ("pixies" --who are just RS Elfkin-- in my stories).

    2. The sounds really cool. Thanks for sharing the book title so I can look into it myself. I would love to follow your progress.

    3. I like it! depending on the doll size will depend on what it is!

    4. Thanks for the recommendation! It's nice to see there's actual instructions in it, not just inspiration board-style fancy pictures of what people have made. I just finished composting all my natural materials for a new garden bed, but trees lose twigs all the time, lol. Only a matter of time before something interesting falls into my lap!

    5. That sounds like a really interesting project that would be fun to follow along with! What other sorts of projects are in the book?
