Faeries in flight

    1. My doll is going to be a faery (specifically, one of the FCE Faery Legends from Soom) and I am already contemplating pretty photo shoots in the woods.

      I would very much like to get some images of her 'flying' (rather, hanging in the air), since she has wings and all, and her faery feet won't be much good for standing! So, I am looking for tips/tricks on how to do this. I searched a bit through the forums but could not find anything really.

      My first idea is to use fishing twine/invisible thread of some sort and tie her to a branch or some such. But how to secure it to her body? And how to make sure she doesn't tip forward or something?

      Ideas? Anyone done this before and have awesome photos to share?

    2. Hello!
      i have done a photoshoot with a doll who was doing gymnastics. In order to get her to leap into the air i set up the shoot under my daughter's highchair. I used fishing line strung around the joints of the doll (because that is where the line stuck in the grooves) and also anchored her below with some more. I photoshopped out the thread later. If the thread was black and the background was dark you may not need to use photoshop. Hope that helps!

    3. Good idea, attaching string to their joints! I kept imagining securing it to her waist but that would be a precarious balancing act.

    4. I don't know what kind of clothes you will have your faery wear, but you could also put thread/string through the shoulder parts (similar to how the arms are strung), knot it at the back and use another string/thread on the lower torso/hip, to balance it out. ^^

    5. Secure well, use good lighting when you shoot, then use photo editing to add motion blurs.

    6. I suspended a doll by tying fishing line around the elastic in his arms and in his legs, inside the joints, where it wouldn't show. I then strung that from a length of dowel, placed across two chair backs, and 'Shopped out what could be seen of the line.

      Sorry for the hideous overexposure and general crappiness. It was a relatively early photo. But it gives you the idea.

    7. ooooh, these are many good ideas! Thank you, everyone! I didn't even think about slipping the anchoring thread into her joints, but that would help with secureness. She will probably be in flowy dresses for any such photo shoots so it might be more easily hideable. Will also have to brush up on photoshop skills :sweat
