Aesthetics Faceup #5 + Hand/Foot blushing

Oct 31, 2017

    1. The look I'm going for with this faceup is a witch. His color scheme is ace colors so I tried some soft (subtle) purple eyeshow and lip gloss. I think I'm getting the hang of lashes thanks to all the advice from my previous thread. Also, this was my first time doing freckles, teeth, and piercings. (He also has some purple crystals on his ears, but I did them after these pics were taken) Other than the brows being slightly too high, I'm really trying to work on that, any advice would be greatly appreciated. I also don't have upper lashes to put on him yet, but he will be getting some as soon as I can get some.

As for the hand and foot blushing, this is only my second time doing it so all advice is welcome. I'm not exactly sure why, but even though I used the same color of pastel that I used on his face, the hands and feet turned out more orangey. Also, yes, I realize the nail painting is sloppy, but I'm not used to using actual paint. It's something I'm still working on.

    2. I have no experience whatsoever with doing faceups, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think he looks great! I especially like the blushing on the fingers and palms.
Then I have a question, is there a particular reason to put gloss on the eye lid/eyeshadow part? Or is it just the look you were going for?

    3. I don't have the biggest experience with face ups but as an illustrator my advice for drawing eyebrows is that unless you want a surprised expression do this:
Start lower on the brow bone, then go up in a soft curve and dip down a bit at the end of the brow.
But really the best way to draw great brows is to use reference. Look at a lot of pictures that come close to what you're going for and you'll be good. It also helps to outline the curve of the brow with sth erasable like a watercolor pencil and correct it again and again until you're satisfied. :)

    4. I’ve never done a “real” faceup before, (all of my past faceups have been a complete failure with MSC) but I think he looks beautiful!!

    5. Thank you. The hands were hard to do. The gloss on the eyelids is just a personal preference. To me, it makes the black liner and the shimmer stand out.

Thank you. That's really helpful advice. The thing about the brows, though, is when I'm putting them on, they always look fine. It's when I'm done that I realize that, once again, they're too high.

      Thank you!

    6. The eyebrows may be a little high -- but they sure are beautiful. The pencil strokes create a wonderfully realistic hair texture.
