Aesthetics Face-Up

Sep 23, 2016

    1. So It has been awhile, My eyelashes used to be decent now they are questionable, My brows have improved and my lips have improved. I was having a difficult time trying to get the pastels to smooth evenly on her cheeks it kept getting splotchy Maybe I used to little or too much sealant? The white eye lines got smudged by the gloss :(
I'm open to critique and tips, It's been 2 years since I was doing Face-up's every day, this is the first one I've done in almost a year itself. So I'm trying to come back and get better :)

How do you guys get better lashes?

    2. If my opinion means anything, it looks great! I don't see any unevenness and the cat-eyes, to me, look symmetrical. :3nodding:

    3. Thank You, Practice makes perfect right? :)

    4. You asked help with lashes. I'd recommend that you'd draw them bit more sparsely, too close together drawn lashes start to look too "hairy". Thinning them in inner and outer corner of eyes might be enough.

Also proper brush is a really good thing - something like this

    5. Thank you, I'll try making them more sparse in those areas and maybe thin my paint some more I think I might have a brush like that I'll give it a try. :)

    6. I might do the lid creases in brown or tan, because as it is they look kind of like makeup or illustration. If that's the look you're going for it's pretty cool, but seems like your looking for a relatively natural look.

    7. I like the idea of doing an illustration style face-up I might try that purposefully sometime now. I appreciate this tip and am noting it for my next face-up, what color would you recommend for a white skin or normal skin doll? like a peach?

      Thank You Very Much!

    8. Anything just a few shades darker than the skin and a bit cooler toned. It's basically just a small shadow.

    9. ahh the eyelashes look great! I always have a hard time with them, I wish mine would turn out this nicely, haha

    10. Awwe well thank you! Just gotta keep at it am I right? :)

    11. I've been doing faceups for ages too and eyelashes are the most frustrating things omg. @_@ What finally helped for me was thinning out my paint a LOT more than I had been. I'd been thinning it and so I was like "That's not what I'm doing wrong cuz I AM thinning it" but hoo boy, not enough! I also wasn't using a good liquidy thinner, the one I had was more gelly. you want it runny as all get out, ink like consistency. Xanthi has some awesome youtube tutorials if you're a visual learner (like me hah!) and shows how to thin the paint to the right consistency and gives advice on the thinner to use.
Thin brushes help but thinner paint is a MIRACLE.

As for blotchy splotchy pastel application, I mix mine with shine pearl powder. It makes it smoother and then it also makes the face up look more luminous under the layers without getting all glitter bombed!

The eyelid lines are placed correctly but I would take a lighter color and work them in first, then go over with gradually darker. it takes more time but you end up with a more polished product in the end.

    12. Awesome, Thank you very much. I will check out her tutorials :) I totally forgot about youtube resources! Hmm Sounds Like need a better thinner to start for sure.
I will have to mess with the shimmer powder mixing. I'm sure the first few will look like disco balls if I'm not careful.
      I appreciate this Thank You.

    13. It really isn't a bad faceup, but I'd suggest that you don't use pure black for the eye crease, since it looks a bit unnatural. The lashes really can be a pain to paint, but we have to face it that sometime they turn out wonderful, sometimes not. I guess it depends on the mood of the faceup materials :XD:
When I do a faceup I usually look at faceups that I like and want to make something similar. I always end up with something truly mine, but when I'm very inspired it really makes a difference! :thumbup
