Aesthetics Face-up

May 18, 2016

    1. I like the side-eye from the last photo! I had a kitty who used to silently judge me like that.

    2. I think it's not bad, and what I do have to offer are more like suggestions, since I'm not sure what people usually do on anthro faceups ^^

The purple eyeshadow looks quite well blended and positioned. If you ever want to go darker, you can consider adding some browns above the eyeliner area to blend the lines to the eyeshadow. Or if you want more blushing, maybe a bit of peach/warm light brown around the hollow of the eye socket to emphasise the sculpting.

The eyeliner looks pretty good too, although more steady lines might help (also maybe the eye of the eyeliner could be more pointy?)

Since there's less linework on this faceup, I would suggest doing more with blushing - maybe more colours, shading the hollows of the sculpt, maybe the cheeks etc, to give it more dimension. But of course if it's supposed to be a more stylised faceup then what I said might not apply so well. Hope your next attempt goes well :)

    3. Haha that's why I picked this sculpt! She reminds me of my kitty too

    4. Thank you! I didn't know what colors would go good with the purple eyeshadow, but I think you're right with the light browns and peaches. I don't know a lot about countoring and definition so thank you for the advice!!

    5. TO BE HONEST
      I think it's perfect without any/heavy blushing oAo <3
Its so tiny and I think the definition it already has does not need to be enhanced. It is a round face anyway so most of the contour would be on the side and idk I just think that would look weird. The only place I would shade is the tear ducts up, in the same form as your eyeshadow took, and perhaps the top of the forehead or base of the ears to give a tiny bit of dimension. I'll admit I think that place looks bare.
But that is for shading and not actual blush. Like its a cat, it doesn't do that D: omg

Anyway there are also things I love about this :D like everything. What did you use to make those eyebrows? I may steal this technique. Like omg this tiny cat is so good... SO CUTE..... *__________________* FFFFFS

And uhm what sculpt is she?

I also think it would be good to mention that her eyeliner looks a little unsteady, but I don't know how to remedy that. Small things are difficult, and I often don't work on the combination of small+hard things myself. BUT WHEN I DO, I find it difficult to find the middle ground between a steady stroke and a well placed one... So I hope someone else has good ideas for this.

    6. She is a Doll Family-A Nei!!! Thank you for the feedback! I have really shaky hands so I;m working real hard on that. I used many layers of watercolor paint for the eyebrows and the eyeliner but I used a pastel base for the eyebrows as a guidline. I am thinking of sculpting tiny ear tufts to put at the base of the ears!! I think that will make it more interesting. Thank you so much !

    7. That's pretty interesting, thank you for letting me in on your process :)

    8. I am just so in love with those little white dots on her cheeks. And for the shakiness of your hand, I know I had trouble painting doll's faces with a brush but have you tried watercolor pencils? They're easier to handle and you can build them up pretty easy if your doll is sealed properly. I know using them helped me with my faceups a lot!

    9. Thank you! I always felt like watercolor pencils looked too grainy but that may just be my pencils.

    10. She is cute!
