Aesthetics Face up try number 2!

Mar 16, 2017

    1. I feel like I have so much more to learn but I'm happy with how this face up turned out! Please give me advice on how to get the best lower lashes, what brush you use, favourite paint, how much you thin it ect ect ect.
Also! Which do you do first? Eyes? Lips? Blushing??
      :)

      She is a luts yuz!

    2. Very detailed work I can see the effort! I don't personally do face-ups but I do draw, my advice for the lower lashes would be to face the dolls chin away from you so you can do them bottom side up! (also I start with either the eyes/brows or nose when I draw :3) Good luck!

    3. Wow, beautiful job! :thumbup Her eyes are such a rich blue that go very well with the darker lip color. While I don't have much advice concerning lower lashes (never done them Dx) I would recommend using more of a similar color to the eyebrows to make the hair look more consistent >u< but a very well done 2nd faceup I must say!

Edit: I accidentally replied to this while trying to edit it x,D but I just changed some wording to make it clearer

    4. Wow what a cutie! You did an awesome job!
I personally don't paint my lashes I just use a watercolor pencil and turn the head upside down, it so much easier this way for me and I'm pretty sure you could apply the method with painting them on

    5. Those lips are such a beautiful color! You did a great job! I personally also feel like the lower lashes and eyebrows should be more similar in color but you did an awesome job with the painting :)

    6. If this is your second face up then wow. It looks really good and detailed:). The hairs in the eyebrows look really pretty.
If you need help with the lower lashes just try drawing small triangles. End a line with a swooping motion, like flicking the brush away from the doll.
Keep ip doing the great work!

    7. Really good job! Her lips are really pretty!

    8. ooh I'm probably a bit late but I got a great idea! you could watch make up tutorials for closeups and movement on eyelashes!! good luck!

    9. Her lips are beautiful, they remind me of a cherry :D. Very impressive for one of your first faceups!!

    10. I recently switched from watercolor pencils to a very fine nail art brush and it made a HUGE difference in my doll's bottom lashes. My lines are thinner and cleaner now. You can find some on Amazon. :thumbup Good job on your faceup! The lips are very pretty:kitty2

    11. Can you link me? I have been trying to find a really thin brush like a 0/30 but everything I find has crazy shipping times. I found a small liner brush on amazon but it said "unknown delivery time".

    12. Here ya go! I have Prime so they shipped pretty fast. I used them on my latest faceup and was really happy with the results. I hope they work out for you too! :3nodding:

    13. You inspire me to also do my very first face-up. and not to mention everyone here is so supportive and sweet :)

    14. Very nice! I like all the colors you chose, except the eyebrows are a bit intense, especially if that is her wig she wears all the time. For eyebrow colors I usually try to match the shadow color of their "main" wig. But for browns in particular, it's really easy to make it too bright of a color, they look more natural if you tone it down a bit! :3

The brush I use for eyelashes/brows is a Princeton Mini Liner 20/0. For thinning the paint, I use this acrylic thinner by Volks. If there isn't much else you want from Volks, it seems ridiculous to order it, but I am absolutely in love with this stuff. I can't imagine doing a faceup without it anymore! So I highly recommend that.

I'm fascinated by the order some people do the faceup elements in, it seems like every way to do it as a different advantage. Personally, I start with blocking in the eyebrow shape in pastel, then do all the blushing, then paint the eyeliner, eyelashes, and eyebrows, then add more blushing as necessary. I feel like I need the blushing there first to help gauge how dark the painted lines should be, but the downside is that if I mess up the lines and try to wipe them off, there's a chance I'll damage the blushing underneath. (The solution of course is to, uh, never make mistakes. LOL)
