Aesthetics Face up attempts on the practice head

Oct 23, 2017

    1. I bought a practice head from Alice's collection a while a go so I can get better at face up before my first bjd arrives.

This is my first attempt but I felt like there is plenty of room for improvement so did another one.

      And the second attempt!
I learned that it is a terrible idea to use sealant on rainy day (and learned it the hard way..)
I was excited because I got to use my new dslr and diy soft boxes to take these photos.

      I will keep practicing any try to improve every time I do this;
      so critiques are very welcomed!

    2. I think you did very well! i am definitely no expert but i like it! =)

    3. Ahh you're really good! I feel like the shadow in the middle of the lips could be too much but I don't know. And possibly the blushing extends too much to the sides where the lips part? Nice job on the light box, the pictures are sweet!

    4. For your first time its amazing & agree with mincy that the dark colour in the middle of the lips is to thick as I feel it drags the mouth down & I sort of like not so think brows but we all like what we like so in the end if your happy thats all that matters but I still think its a great job you have done.
The brows are actually good & even though.:)

    5. Thank you that’s very sweet of you:love

I see, thank you for the suggestion, I will use lighter color when I color middle of the lips. Critiques are always appreciated :)

I agree I should have gone easy with the mouth haha. Although I have a thing for thick brows, it seems like most people prefer thinner brows, so I will try on thin brows every now an then.

    6. I think if your happy with thick brows you just stick with them or the world will be full of thin browed dolls & we arent all like that..variety is great...I still think you did a marvelous job.:)

    7. I love the added blushing on the nose, it's a cute effect! The eyes look symmetrical and you did a great job giving them some dimensions. If you like thick brows, I think you could add another shade of brown on them so they pop out even more, while still looking natural. Perhaps adding 'hair' details with the darker colour? :)

    8. color looks really natural and vivid :) I like it

    9. Thanks for the compliments and advises!
I want to be able to do face up in more varieties of styles so your suggestion was definatelt helpful :)

      Thanks!
I will try hard to make my next face up better :)

    10. You really improved a lot from the 1st try to the second! For the forehead, maybe blush the temples instead of the crown? It will help contour the head to look less egg shaped.

    11. I have the same practice head! :lol:I personally love how much improvement you can see in the eyebrows from first to second! I think they both look great for a first time though :) (although that is from a newbie who is yet to do a faceup)

    12. You did a great job! Colours are well blended, and the faceup looks very natural are a whole. You can try drawing strokes of hairs for the eyebrows to make them more realistic.
