Face sculpt critique

Jun 3, 2021

    1. Hi! I'd like some feedback on my face sculpt. It's still a work in progress, so there's a few things I already know I want to adjust (as well as just a lot of sanding to do), but overall I'd just like your opinions. I'm going for a more-or-less realistic look and proportions.

Let me know if you want any more/different angles to see the sculpt!

    2. You've done a good job with the face. Quite realistic. The only critique I have is that the top of the head feels a bit too large, vertically. You might put a temp wig on and check. It's just my opinion. But overall, looks great.

    6. If it's not by me, I'd be interested in seeing it!

    7. It's in Facebook marketplace. The name is JoyDolls Tia Sleeping Plate Face
      I couldn't get a link
      Similar features.
I'm sorry if I mislead. It's a resin doll head, not an original unique piece.of art like yours

    8. This is a nice face, I like her alert look.

There are a few things that jumps out as not quite there yet. Nothing bad, just areas that looks a bit underworked.
First one is in the lip area. The lips themselves are sweet and the area between the upper lip and nose is nicely worked, but the area under and at the sides of the mouth lack definiton, making the lips seem almost as if they are applied on top of the face, rather than being a part of it. Especcially where the corners of the mouth meet the cheek. Take a look at human faces and look at how the area around the mouth moves and shapes with different expressions of the mouth.

The second area is the eyes. Right now they seem very widely opened, almost staring. Since the eye size is so small it makes the eye opening seem almost round.
It may be the small placeholder eyes that does it, but the eyes also seem to sit quite far apart. That may fix itself when the rest of the eye detail is done, though. It almost looks as if the eye area is sculpted with a bigger eye ball in mind.

She's got a lot of potential. Best of luck with the entire project!
