2. Wonderful tutorial, thanks for sharing! :) I love the pictures, they're quite helpful.

3. Thank you for the kind comment!

4. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I had an eyelash come off of a doll and I had some issues trying to get it back on. I did some of what you were suggesting here, but not all of it so this was majorly helpful to me.

5. i dont know why i thought bjd's have their own eyelash things...

6. I'm glad this was helpful!

There are eyelashes specifically for dolls, but they tend to be more expensive, so that's why I showed it with a human eyelash.

7. Oh wow! Just my opinion, but human eyelash looks quite nice. Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Now to fix up those awkwardly glued lashes on my dolls.... xP

8. Thanks for this tutorial! The one time I tried applying eyelashes was kind of a mess. I never thought to let the glue get tacky before sticking the eyelashes on!

9. Thanks for sharing. Photos are very explicit, it helps a lot ^^

10. Wow nice tutorial with the helpful pictures. I'm thinking of putting eye lashes on my doll

11. Thankyou for this, My doll's eyelashes recently came off, and I didnt think to make the glue tacky first.

12. Great tutorial!! This was made really well and will definitely help people out! :D

13. Thanks! I made the mistake of using super glue for my first face up... worst decision ever..

14. Oh no! I can imagine it was a stressful, sticky situation.

IzabethS Thank you so much for this tutorial! It helps to give confidence to first timers to see such clear pictures and pointers. :)

15. Using a pin is such a good idea! And having visuals really helps too, thank you for this tutorial!

16. Wow! I love how the eyelashes just pop!
Thank you for the tutorial! Now I don't have to put the lashes in and mess with them when I adjust the eyes <3

17. Thanks everyone for your kind comments, I'm glad this tutorial has been so informative!

18. Thanks for sharing! This will come in handy. :)

19. Only for open eye or can you put eyelashes on sleeping sculpts?

20. As long as there is a slit for the eyelashes to sit in it should work on sleeping sculpts too. I've applied eyelashes the same way to sleeping plates.

21. Thank you. I wasn't sure.

22. You're welcome!

23. Oh good this is exactly what I needed! Thank you for posting this!

24. This was very useful information, thank you for showing this! I do faceup commissions and I always truggle with the glued eyelashes, I've now done the glueing with this technique and it works really well.

25. You're very welcome!

I'm glad it could help you in your craft as well!

26. Thanks so much for this! An eyelash fell of my doll the day I got her home. So far it is the one face up thing I've avoided doing myself, and this really helped me replace it quickly, even as much as I was shaking!

27. I'm trying this tomorrow!

should i post a before and after pic?

28. I'm glad it helped you so much! Eyelashes can be daunting to apply, but I'm happy that this tutorial eased your mind.

Awesome, and yes do show!

29. try this tutorial, thank you ;)

30. Great tutorial! Thanks! :)

31. Thank you so much for this tutorial. Photos are very explicit, I'll try this :love

32. Thank you, I wasn't sure how much glue was still fine, feeling more confident now :D !

33. Thank you so much for tutorial. Photos are very helpful. I will have to give this a try. I have tried putting eye lashes on before and did not work out for me.

34. I have such trouble with eyelashes!! I'm currently using putty for mine, but I need to put new ones in (that are also correct in size). Thank you for this tutorial and also making sure it has pictures of every step!

35. Thank you very much for the tutorial!
I was looking for ways to put eyelashes on my doll, this was perfect!

36. I needed this desperately! Thanks for your help! All the pictures make it super easy!

37. i dont know why but applying eyelashes until this tutorial i found daunting, maybe because i tried it once in my teens and it went horribly wrong. i;ve seen some lovely sfp with eyelashes when i order my girl i'm also ordering the sfp.

38. very nice tutorial, thank you

39. I just did eyelashes on my little B&G Leile a couple weeks before joining the forum. It sucked so bad. XD I was screaming like a banshee as glue got all over me, the eyelashes, the dolls eyes and they still wouldn't stay put to stick! And when I did get them to stay, when I repositioned with a pen/toothpick/anything they immediately stuck to that and came right off. I was using elmers school glue....apparently not the right way. I ended up having to use a glue stick glue because I guess it was immediately more tacky?

I'm probably just impatient....but...I hope if I need to I can get the school kind of glue stick off? I feel silly..

40. I'm so glad this tutorial is helpful, thank you for your kind words everyone!

That does sound like a nightmare! I think glue sticks are water soluble, so just take a very wet q-tip and rub it along the glued parts of the eyelashes. It may take some more patience, but that'll soften the glue, or at least should!

41. Thanks so much! I about panicked thinking all my hard work would mean I ruined my doll with a stupid glue stick. Hahaha. I guess we'll see...if I bring myself around to even trying to remove them one day. I'm traumatized.

Q-tip. Very wet. Got it.

I know I'll have to do it again soon, but thankfully on bigger sculpts, which I hope will be easier. The bigger ones are easier than 1/6 size and smaller...right?

42. Yes, 1/3 and 1/4 are easier to glue eyelashes into than the 1/6 and smaller scale. The smallest I've put them on is Pukifee sized dolls. That was tricky, and I had to trim the eyelashes afterwards so they wouldn't be miles long.

43. Does anyone know where I can buy eyelashes which are better quality? I have bought mine from Leeke, and sometimes I have used my own fake eyelashes. Both are ok, but tend to damage and look bad easily.

I don't know if this is the right place for my question, I tried to look for right topic but.. if there's some topic where people have discussed about eyelashes you can jus lave me a link ^^'

But good tutorial, thank you!

44. It was my pleasure to put this together! Would you mind posting your boy with his eyelashes once you get them?

45. cool. great tutorial=)
how did you make that scar the dolls face.

46. Thank you! And I did the scar with white glue.

47. Thank you very much for the tutorial. My doll's eyelashes got damaged in transit so I was pretty sad until I learned I could try the eyelashes myself. I just have a few questions.

☆ Which kind of glue is okay to use? I have no idea which will harm my doll and which will not.
☆ Is it okay to use old eyelashes or should I buy new eyelashes for each new application?

48. I'd be happy to answer your questions!

1. White glue, like paper or wood glue, is fine. As long as it is water soluble it should be fair game. I use PVA glue, but a lot of people use just plain old white school glue like Elmers or so.

2. Old eyelashes are just fine to use. I reuse eyelashes all the time!

49. Thank you, Iza :) very kind of you to help me out. Well, I went out today and bought some kind of hobby glue that dries transparent and seems to have no oils or solvents in it. That should be okay. I guess we'll know soon enough... *collects her courage and starts to take her little girl apart* I'll see if I can gather some before and after pictures, haha~

EDIT: Done! I think...

Here you can see my little girl's head and the glue I used. The poster buddies on the right were going to be used to reattach her eyes when everything was done.

And I started by removing her eyes, that eye putty was a pure nightmare. I don't know what the last owner used but that stuff sticked to anything... On this image you can see how badly she needed me to fix her eyelashes. The hairs of the eyelashes on her left eye were barely visible on the outside, this pretty much explains why. It was glued there...why? o__O You can see a toothpick there as well as a needle, in the end I used the needle since it was easier to use than the toothpick.

Freshly glued eyelashes for the win~! You can see the white glue here but it should dry up and turn transparent. It took me about five minutes to get the lashes where I would want them to be with the help of the needle. I'm lucky as I could use the right eye as reference. I'm going to admit it was not that easy for me but with some practise I'm pretty sure it'll go faster next time.

Now she's resting so the glue can dry up. I'll probably leave it alone for the night and insert her eyes again tomorrow. I want to make sure the glue is dried up properly. As you can see this is a massive improvement, both eyes have pretty lashes now!

Thank you again for the lovely tutorial and teaching us how it is done~ :)

50. Hello, firstly thanks for the nice tutorial, that's exactly how I'll be doing it when I get my doll's face together!
I wanted to know if anyone can share a method for trimming lashes that are too long for a tiny doll, in a way so that they don't look bluntly chopped-off. The lashes appear to taper toward the ends before trimming, is there a way to achieve that look by perhaps cutting at an angle or maybe brushing the ends of the lashes with some sort of solution after chopping (probably not while on the doll) ?

51. That's great Siara, thanks for sharing pictures!

I tend to trim eyelashes by having the scissors (very pointy ones, like the ones that are meant for trimming eyebrows) and I cut parallel to the lashes to taper them. That way they aren't cut straight across. Let me find an example that I did.

This doll is teeny tiny (pukifee sized), and I only have 5-7mm length eyelashes in stock so I trimmed them down.

52. Thank you for sharing your tutorial! My first eyelash installation was a nightmare. I wish I would have seen this first. Heh. Thank you!

53. Thank you for sharing that photo and tip! (Adore those freckles too btw!!)
My doll's eyelashes arrived today, I ordered Dollfie Eyelashes from Volks... the color is great but they're ridiculously uneven (one eye's worth of lashes gradates nicely short->medium->long, the other eye's lash goes short->medium->short), so that presents a new and unexpected challenge when it comes time to shape them.
*_*
Thankful for the advice and wisdom..!

54. Great tutorial. I'm really nervous knowing I'll have to do my own face-up in the future so I'm just researching as many techniques as possible now!
Thanks so much for posting. :abow:

55. Wow this is so fantastic; thank you for this tutorial...Another reason I am so glad to have joined this forum.....:dance

56. Very long eyelashes!) Very useful post!! Thank you!)

57. Great idea! Also can i ask what head this is?

58. Thank you! She's a Dollzone Stramonium, sadly discontinued....

59. Haha of coarse! i seem to fall in love with a few and they always end up being so. dang it my luck!

60. Do the eyes have to be removed? Not sure I can re-center them evenly...
