Eyes Experimental Eye Collection

Oct 15, 2023

    1. I've been making eyes for 3 years now! I made my 1st trashy clay pair in 2020 and my 1st resin ones in 2021! I just started making anime/paper eyes (:roll:still figuring them out).
I have lots of fun trying any idea at least once! From landscapes to flowers or a pond. I just wanted to share a few of my favs though it was hard to pick just a few! Most of the iris designs are made with polymer clay which can be finicky, but has improved my eye game 10x over.

My most recent experiment that turned the F out! Love them [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
Anime eyes. My newest foe at the moment! The two in the middle are my classic polymer clay. The rest are hand drawn (left side) or paper cut (right side).
Bubbles are still my worst enemy even after 3 years, those cursed bastards!:vein
Hope you enjoyed the collection this is a small slice of my collection as I make eyes constantly ;p.

    6. Thank you oh so much. Id say my hyper realism is lacking but why do you need that when you can do “fantasy” :whee:

    7. You totally should! I did it in several layers. To break it down… I put down clay rocks (which you mostly can’t see). I “water” colored (blue and green) the next layer (so I wouldn’t discolor the fish). The koi went on top with the body made of clay and fins painted on (the orange was also painted on). The Lilly pad was lifted a bit from the koi and finally with a tiny bit of mica for taste. It worked out super well for a very complex design. I for sure think you should try it!!! :XD: Hope the break down could help you with your own.

    8. I know!!!! I really wasn’t expecting much for my first try.
I believe they are they are 16 mm and about 8 mm iris. If I went smaller I would have to paint more details rather then using clay I guess. Hmm now you get me thinking. :evilplot:

    9. @BarefootWarrior That breakdown is hugely helpful, thank you so much!! I'll be sure to share them with you when I finish them - but it'll probably be a while, this time of year is always very busy for me. (I get most creative when the weather turns cool.) I try to make eyes with resin alternatives since I'm not able to safely handle resin right now, so they'll definitely look different, but that's part of the fun I think.

    10. Thank you for your comment! The ring/chain one was an experiment for creature eyes (they look like snake eyes in the head) that extended to finding different ways to attach things (ie the chains). I thought it would be spooky to do eye chains like how people do chains from face piercings. Though piercing is not any of my doll's style :)
The one ringed in blue (with the crescent on top) is a clay charm I sculpted to fill the horn hole for one of my dolls. She has a huge forehead hole for her unicorn horn. I don't always want the big horn on so I sculpted a third eye instead. I highly suggest it for sculpts that have big magnet holes.
I post on social media off and on. My Tumblr is a good photo gallery for my varied doll projects Riddler’s Cove. I do have a TikTok for short vids at Merlins_Memoir. Otherwise, I post randomly across social media ;):D
