Dolls & Party 2015 is an event that will be held on Barcelona (Europe) 4th of July 2015

While the first edition was very focused on BJD (Ball Jointed Dolls) of all brands, this year, other dolls such as Pullips, Blythes and other kinds of collectible dolls will have a greater presence.

The event aims to bring and make this hobby more accessible to their fans as well by congregating in one place companies, shops, dealers and artists from around the world. We also aim to make the hobby more well-known.

Dolls & Party 2015 is organized by the Association Dolls & Party (tax identification number G66274796), this being a non-profit entity. The money, once the costs of the event are covered, is donated to organizations of social and charitable nature.

We didn't chose our name without a reason: we plan to offer a real party for you and your dolls.

Where and when will it be held?



Dolls & Party 2015 will be held on Saturday July 4, 2015 in the Ballroom of the Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona, an area of 1,000 m2 which will host the 2nd edition of the event. The venue is located just 10 minutes from the beaches of Barcelona.

This year the event location is right next to the Diagonal Mar shopping center which offers a host of restaurants and bars where you can taste from a big variety like Japanese food, fast food or local cuisine.
You can also find ATMs, a cinema, a hypermarket, recreation areas and 240 stores. Also, right next to the shopping center you will find the Diagonal Mar Park, 14 hectares distributed in 7 large spaces. A large park where you can relax, have a snack or take pictures to your dolls, alone or with other visitors of the Dolls & Party.



What activities will be held?

Dolls & Party is not only about buying dolls and supplies (which, we have to admit, we all love). The staff is also preparing some fun activities for you. We will be updating this section as we unveil them but for the moment we can disclose that the Best Dolls Owner game from the first edition will be back, with new tests and bigger than ever!

Flying with Dolls: Reviews from an experienced traveller

I've decided to make a small review and sharing of experiences of flying this dolls. Up until this date I've flown several times with a doll: To USA, to Japan and several times to UK, as I was moving there and did not trust the moving services with my dolls I used various flights to carry them.

My recommendations are:

NEVER put them in the cargo. Carry them with you in the plane. Buy a sturdy small suitcase that will be allowed to be in cabin. Have your doll securely inside it with cushions or safe clothes (avoid clothes with gems or beads) with a face mask. For extra protection bubblewrap your dolls hands and feet individually and tie them together. For amazing extra protection and if you have the place, have the doll inside a doll box. DO NOT wear anything sharp or liquids than can spill in the same compartment as your doll.

Don't be scared for the security. I've never been asked to open my luggage but if you are asked to do not worry! Just open it and show it. Explain the security that you are carrying a valuable collection doll, and if they want to examine it you can show them, but you would prefer to handle it as it is extremely fragile. (Wear some extra adhesive tape just in case you have to rebubblewrap).

Now your two new best friends: BE EARLY and RUN (run for your lives!!!!! LOL, seriously though, run). Some low cost companies now allow you to bring an extra shopping bag inside the cabin, which is great, but results in less space and, if the flight is full, the last passengers will have to put their cabin luggage in the cargo. So for the resin god's sake please don't loose track on the time, be extra attentive to the airports screens and get one of the first places in the boarding line.

If you follow these simple rules you should be fine


Should I bring my doll to Dolls & Party

YES, YES, YES!!!! I totally recommend coming with your doll to the D&P! First of all, it is really fun to see the place full of happy owners carrying their dolls and showing them around. Second of all, most exhibitors will let you try some items on the doll. And third of all... I can not give in details but maybe you should bring a camera along with the doll? You never know when a good chance for a photoshot would appear...

 

Hi bat77, on the Dolls&Party there will be some exhibitors who offer face up services. You won't be able to have your doll face-upped at the event, but you may be able to leave it with them. Have a look at our exhibitor list and if you find any artist of your interest we recommend you contact them before the event and ask them if they will offer this service!
