Hi EU sellers. I prefer to buy in EU becurse of customs, so I wish that every seller from EU would write EU in the headline so it was easy to locate - BIG wish
You're right,i'm located in EU either and i think that post in the title thread EU would definitely makes things easier.
I couldn't agree more. Portugal is part of the EU and seen as I'm buying my doll soon enough it would be very helpful if EU sellers could mark their headlines
Second this, i'm from EU as well and i do think it would be great to add a tag so we know that this of that seller if from EU, it's helpful in my pov!
Also agree to this ^^ I'm in EU too and I'd love having it a little easier, since it's often complicated to find things from Europe and I'd like to save on shipping and taxes. Thank you!
Can't agree more! Definitely would be helpful! I do try to find EU sellers first... I'm really sick of being charged VAT for any goods coming into my country from outside EU...
It is definitely a good idea and I always try to put UK/EU when I list dolls etc for sale, I always look for things in the EU too, saves a lot in customs fees.
Having EU written in the headline would make things so much easier not only for seller but in general. The international post office in my town has an almost impossible schedule.
yep totally agree, it would be good to be able to search just for eu too buts too small for the search!
I prefer to put "Europe" in the headline, because like newdollfie-bjdowner said, EU is too small for the search!
I agree too. If the country or area could be shown in the Headline or be visible in some other way this would be helpul also for trades in other countries. Mein-Lullaby, not all European countries are in the EU. Maybe we can agree to some other way of writing it, like *EU* or something similar.
i agree too! great idea just changed mine so the title now has eu in it! i think that we should use some thing we can search though as eu will not give any results! europe was a good suggestion or *EU*?
As the forum search will not pick up on any search-term shorter than four characters, it is next to useless to put 'EU' or 'UK' in the title 'Europe' is easily searchable and isn't too long that it takes over the title. 'Euro' is probably more confusing because some sellers do choose to sell using the Euro but not everyone in the European region uses the Euro.
I disagree that it is 'useless', I often just browse the MP or search for a specific item rather than by location and in these cases its very useful if EU/UK is in the title...
@ lisa I also prefer buying in Europe because of the same reasons ( no tax and high shipping fees). And I agree, it would be great if every seller from the EU would state it in the thread title ^-^ It would also be helpful if every seller states his/her location in the user profile- so that the location will appear under the avatar! ^^ Sellers will have to be put "Europe" in the thread title so you can SEARCH for items from the EU. If there is just an "EU" or "UK" you can easily find it when you are browsing through the MP but the thread will not appear when you search for it. Overall I hope Lisa´s wish will come true :P
I'm from the US, but I also think this is a good idea. I don't have customs fees here, but shipping fees from outside the US are much higher. I might be able to get a head shipped to me domestically for under $10, but that same head from Europe might be $40. Usually, I don't have the spare money to pay those high shipping costs and it would be helpful to not waste a seller's time asking and then deciding I can't buy, when there might be another EU buyer that would buy if they knew.
I had to disagree that this idea is "useless" ^^" even though the forum searching function does not pick up words that are less then 4 characters, it is still useful to have them in the title. Not sure about other members, but I do sometimes look through the market place page by page instead of doing a search^^ Even when I search "clothes" and it turns out some of the results thread do say "EU" in the title is already a very useful fact
^Me too, if I use the search on the marketplace I do so to track down a certain sculpt/article, not to just browse. If I then get the results and some of them have an indication in the title, whether that is "EU"or "Europe", I find that very useful indeed
Isn't it better to have a standard that works for both directed searches and browsing? I browse occasionally, but most of the time I do a directed search for what I want to find. There are specific things I'm looking for that are better found using the search than browsing by chance. I would find it easier to locate items in Europe if people spelled it out in full, rather than use [EU] which isn't searchable. It would make it easier to prioritise a search.
Well, yes, but then it would also be better if we could search for shorter terms or the country of origin was automatically listed in the title from the form used to make the sales post, but neither of those things are going to happen, so we have to work with that we have. I, for one, don't want to buy from the whole of Europe, I want to buy from the EU members. There's no point going to the trouble of seeking out sellers from places that are going to be taxed upon importation and writing title lines is already like shoving the collected works of Shakespeare into a Tweet. More often than not, I don't have the characters left to put "Europe".
Hear hear! *nod nod* It's like having the price in the title - I've tried to search for items by price but it never brings up the items I'm hoping for however having it there is still helpful so I know what threads to click on once I've used the search to bring up the items I'm looking for if I know what kind of amount I want to spend Likewise if I can tell at a glance that an item is being sold in the UK/EU that helps greatly since I'd rather spend a little more on an item within these areas than less and end up paying through the nose in customs from the US. Like in the meet-ups section - people have started using [UK] [US] etc in the thread title (something I'm delighted to see) so if I search for a place I want to find a meet up I will know at a glance if it's the place in the UK I want to go to or if it's the similarly/same named place in a different country
Wouldn't a better solution be to include European Union as the location where the doll will be shipping from in that field on the form? Then you could use an advanced search for that and not clutter up the title of the thread.
Please correct me if I'm wrong I think this is a good idea, but not all marketplace sub-forums have this form-filling function, at the moment, for example selling on the accessories sub-forum is just like posting a thread here, there is no form for us to fill in ^^;
I would love that to happen. Actually, I would love even more if a general advice for all sellers was adding location to the sales thread... then I wouldn't have to click any thread that's missing the location to find out where it's located. I also prefer to buy from inside the EU because of customs. I perfectly understand why sellers wouldn't want to mark a package down, but here in the Netherlands TNT has a flat fee for handling any package that needs to be declared, and that fee is HUGE, 18EUR for EMS, on top of anything you have to pay to the customs. It's actually outrageous for me, but what can you do... That's why I much prefer to keep it local if I can.
I totally support this! for me it's really useful to see EU or Europe in the title, although it's a pity that EU can't be searchable. The huge Customs fees makes me mad, we also have to pay a flat fee in Spain for every parcel (14 euros I think) plus 18% of the price declared. Some times I had to pay almost the same for the item than for the customs fees -_-U
Adding anything from EU to whole world would make searching much simpler. For me just EU would be enough I think, as I tend to skim the thread titles quickly before deciding which may be relevant to what I am looking for.
Then simply write that the item is in the European Union in the body of the post. You can still search specific sub forums for key words in the body of the posts in the advanced search. It requires maybe 20 extra seconds of clicking and typing. The issue is that people want to use an abbreviation that is in no way is searchable.
In cases like Lulu said (from above response), sellers don't always have enough characters left to put the whole "European Union" in their title as this would be taking up too much space, reducing the ability to demonstrate what they sell in the thread. I understand when you said people could use the advance search for specific word in the thread body, but we are not emphasizing the use of abbreviations, and are simply suggesting that at least an indication of where about sellers are based in the thread title would be helpful when we do a quick browsing of the threads.
Dumb question maybe, does the search engine take symbols (dashes, brackets etc.) as characters too? If yes, couldn't we just agree on writing something like -EU- or (EU) or even Euro in the title so that it's enough characters to search and still not a mouthful, or would that still be too long to put in a title?
