Yeah.. I've got some epoxy putty questions~ First, what does it do, exactly? I've gotten the impression that it smoothes everything out after you've sanded your doll down, and then you sand that too. Where do you get it from? I looked on the JoAnnes website, and they just had this spray-on stuff (Loctite Quick-Set, to be exact) :/ To go with the previous question, is it neccesary for it to be in "putty" form?
I think most people use it to sculpt dolls or add bits to an exisiting doll. I don't know what you saw at Joanne's, or what exactly it is you want it to do, but you can get one popular kind of sculpting putty here: http://apoxie.sculptingstudio.com/
I have no idea what you found at joann's, I've never heard of that. o_o To smooth out your original sculpt after sanding, you can spray it with a sandable primer, like Krylon. Epoxy putty is good for making your original or else adding to an existing sculpt. It's an air dry clay that is extremely hard when dry, so you don't have to worry about baking your finished piece- which is why it's good for adding to an existing sculpt.
Okay. So I should look for Kylon if I just need to smooth things out? I think I'll go with that, then.
Now.. I looked on the joanne's website, and this is all I found that wasn't in an aerosol can. Would it work?
I've never seen that before either! X3 The primer I use I got at the hardware store for like $4 in the spray paint section. I got both grey and white. I put about two coats on, sand, then coat, sand, ext. If you're trying to fill pits or gouges in your doll, try getting an acrylic nail filling kit. Glyndon recommended that to me, and it works great! But it smells really bad.
Dude O_o I have that same exact stuff..Heres three words for you, DONT BUY IT!! Though it is great for heavy duty work for gluing things together and you can sand it down, the stuff is in liquid form which is highly IMO in convienent gluing pieces of sculptures together >_<. Its not the same as epoxy and primers, its for gluing things together pernamently.
Really? That's a good idea.. I'd have never thought of the nail kit. I'll see if Home Depot has what you got. @ xshinatox ~ >_>;; It's good thing I never found it, then!
