Hi all! I thought this group might be an OK place to post as we all buy lots of BJD goodies from around the world. Is anyone else waiting for international EMS packages shipped to USA right before the end of de minimis / halt of EMS shipments? Have you received your packages? I had a package (it was over the de minimis) sent from Japan on the last day before they stopped services to USA (August 26). Unfortunately . . . it is now in US customs, and they have not been of much help. Has not updated in over 2 weeks so I am on pins and needles. I know it could take up 45 days to clear, so not sure what to do as honestly, my packages usually clear within 24 ~ 48 hours. I started a missing mail search about a week ago. I had a nearly identical package sent from the same sender about 2 weeks earlier and it arrived very quickly with no issues. Wondering if USPS is holding a lot of packages due to the new customs requirements. Anyone else receive their EMS or other USPS packages after this? I am using other couriers such as DHL or UPS for other packages, have had to pay some duties on some, but nothing stuck like my EMS package.
If it's at the Jamaica NY facility, sometimes that one in particular is a bit of a black hole... I've had packages stuck there for some time even when others breeze through. They've all eventually cleared, and at least once were actually delivered without any update. I suspect it's just a backlog situation, but totally get why you're anxious. Are you able to contact the sender? It might be worth it, just in case it gets sent back. (The tracking should update in that case, but still.)
I’ve had packages stuck in customs for a few weeks, they eventually arrive at my doorstep. It’s frustrating, especially now, but it will probably be fine, just slow because of the current situation.
I did contact the sender a few days ago, waiting for a reply. Perhaps they are working on contacting Japan Post as well. I did call both USPS and customs at ISC NY. Though neither had any updates for my package in particular. Customs told me to call USPS instead, after USPS directed me to call CBC. I think that's pretty common. I hope it will update soon / or just show up at my doorstep. I am guessing they still don't have the infrastructure to charge these duties. However, before the end of the de minimis, I received multiple EMS packages over the threshold without a hitch. If I hear word about any duties needing to be paid, I'll pay them ASAP. But so far, nothing and the tracking doesn't indicate anything like that. The last USPS update is: ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS), Processed Through USPS Facility on August 29th. However, Japan Post's last update is UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, In Customs on August 30th.
Ugh. Yeah, I understand the worry, especially when you've already tried to investigate. My personal best guess is they have a lot of packages because everyone was desperately trying to get things in before the deadline, and whatever carts full of them they have, sometimes one gets pushed to the back. I'd certainly be pressing F5 on that tracking once an hour. I hope that's all it is, and it shows up with no more fuss! May also be worth checking every so often to make sure you don't get fees due as an email, and it goes to spam... just in case.
Unfortunately, still no updates for my package. Hoping others are having more success with their EMS! Wish I had purchased a little sooner and mailed with my other purchase earlier in August
Oh no, seeing this notification I was really hoping your package had finally arrived. We will keep sending good mail vibes for you that it's located and arrives *somewhere* (even if it's sent back, still better than not knowing).
Final update on my lost package from Japan (EMS)! It was recovered! I had opened up the investigation with CBP as well as the missing mail enquiry with USPS several months ago . . . long story short, it got redirected to the Atlanta Mail Recovery Center that handles lost, undeliverable, and damaged mail. I'm pretty sure that it got opened at JFK for customs inspection and the original label got torn off or was illegible. Luckily, the sender had included a paper inside that gave a general idea of what was inside the box. I also uploaded a description and picture of doll when I submitted the inquiry with USPS. Somehow . . . it came to me safely today after 80 days in transit.
I'm so glad it was found!!! That's quite remarkable, I've actually never had a domestic lost package found. Good on you for keeping on it, and whoever was responsible for finding it!
