Aesthetics Elfdoll Eun-A - Faceup Critique Needed

I think you did a REALLY nice job with this. I like the brows particularly... so many of us are afraid to do anything but delicate pastel little eyebrows, and these really give some character to the face. Am I correct in thinking that you took a female head and repainted it to be MUCH more masculine? I have an Elfdoll myself, so I have looked at their webpage A LOT. The color on the mouth is very nice, very natural......the only thing that bothers me about this face up at all it is the shading at the outer edges of the eye, I might have made it just a little less dark, but that is just a matter of personal taste. By the way, love his coat, I have been looking for one just like it, would you minding sharing where you got it from?

 

I really don't know a lot about face-ups, but I'm amazed at his new skin color- you can't tell that he didn't start with that color because your application is so smooth!

 

I do really likethis faceup, he seems looking at straight and maybe thinking of something. Your work is cleanand smooth, simple things can look really good.

 

I have done dye jobs before and at most times they are successful and you can't tell the difference. But for you to say that you airbrushed it from a WS to a NS is unbelievable. It's simply flawless on how did that. The face up itself is also flawless and I like that you took the risk of making the eyebrows big because I have seen many going too thin for a male doll or some big ones just look stuck on. However yours works for this face up and they look great. Everything looks great and I can't find anything harsh to say about it. It's simply awesome!!!

I lovelovelove this faceup! The eyebrows especially are absolutely wonderful, and you gave him a great natural look when airbrushing him. His eyelashes do grow a bit spare the further in they get, compared to the outside, but honestly I wouldn't touch a single thing abut him - he looks lovely!

 

I really like it! It looks totally professional. the eyebrows are stunning!

 

Skin: I try to compliment the original skin tone, so the immediate difference in skin threw me off. I see many praising your ability to turn him tan, which I must agree it's smooth even coverage so good job on that.

Eyes: His lashes are soft, neutral, and blended well into his eye lid. His eyebrows are full and let me know he's a boy, love the wisp details you've added to them as well. You could benefit with a white pencil on top for some quick light hairs towards the third eye area for some more depth. When working with a doll and their wig I take into consideration our skin tone is directly related to our hair tones. You could go back in with some dark blues for extra shadows and some "cooling" of his skin, since right now he is very warm. Also, the ridge of the brow would be "darkest" at the point it bends down towards the eye so I'd suggest doing some graphite sketches of real portraits just for a further understanding of the light/dark balance on that one.

Lips: He surely has a natural lip about him. I'd suggest taking some brown mixed with red and darkening the inner corners of his lips to really help us see the value change and grasp just how supple the sculpt is in that area. The color in the center of his lip, I just don't know it stands out right away to me. This could have been your intention.

Face shade: I see some nice shading in his eye ridge, along the eyelid, and on his cheeks. I love his nose and perhaps some cool blue/brown tones could have been put into the creases for another value push.

The above are solely my opinions and everyone's are different. Overall you did a great job with this boy, he feels very natural. Keep up the great work!
